  1. Lost my old account.. so I had to create a new one. I'm usually pretty sharp on these things, but I'm looking for thoughts on how to handle the following: And ex and I had an apartment 4 years ago. Moved out at the end, turns out there was a hundred and something balance. Argued back and forth with the complex about it, etc.. never got resolved. Fast forward to last month. I pull my credit report for the first time in years, and unsurprisingly there is a tradeline from NCS on my report for the bill from the apt complex. I send a DV/LC&D citing FDCPA and TX Fin Code, CM/RRR, the receive it a couple days later, and I hit the CRAs with a dispute. I end up getting a letter back from them indicating the account has been paid, and is closed. They then update their reporting to reflect that. Now, the question is, since this is a joint account, are they in violation of FDCPA and/or TX FinSec392 for failing to provide me any documentation, let alone anything resembling validation, and verifying/updating the CRAs?
  2. Hello, I'm curious if anyone who has/had a joint checking account with a credit union that did not require the sharing of one userID/password to view both accounts and perform bill pay. For example, Most of the banking between me and my wife is currently performed at Alliant - unfortunately they require the sharing of online credentials (she has to use my ID and PW) - it makes it rather tough when there are certain identity questions asked "what was the name of your childhood friend?" that she will have a hard time answering. And this situation occurs quite often since her work computer apparently doesn't save cookies. Logix - same thing, sharing of ID and password is required. DCU appeared to be the only one that had separate logins that would allow both people to login and view all accounts and perform bill pay with only their payee's listed. Unfortunately, DCU wasn't all that good to us so they were closed - toy limits, and their debit cards failed on us twice (once apparently was due to some flag being set when the account was new, and then the second time some kind of problem with their network). Thanks!
  3. Wife had mortgage with a credit union and has since refinanced. Is it possible to be added to the closed mortgage account? or maybe auto loan?
  4. In 2003, I got a joint Best Buy card with my momma so I could purchase a laptop for schooling (I was over 18). We have moved multiple times over the years and the account is still active/used by my parents for big purchases. I am in the process of getting all my old addresses, names, work history, etc removed from my credit reports. The address on the Best Buy card has been changed/updated to our current address (obviously, as it's being used). This is also my oldest card, at 10 years 1 month. Did the address update for both of us for reporting on our credit reports? If I remove that old address associated with the card (the one I used to apply) will I lose all that positive information?
  5. Hi, I co-signed for someone who was in jail to get them out. The amount owed is about $600 bucks or so. The girl who I bailed out definitely isn't going to pay. This debt was just reported after about 4 years and now is appearing under the three major credit bureaus. I don't want to fork out the money for this despite the fact that I co-signed. She isn't going to pay and I know it. I'm wondering if I can dispute it, but it seems like a long shot. Is there any way to get this removed and/or get out of this? I'm stupid for co-signing I know, but it happened and now I'm paying for it on my credit report. Any advice appreciated.
