  1. Hi CB, First, let me apologize if this has already been through the shredder here on CB! I've been taking a break from reading the boards. But, recently I have been noticing a trend with the recent changes that are going on over at GECRB or shall I say - Synchrony Bank! Since they changed their name, (THREE) of my accounts have either been upgraded to a credit card or product changed without my consent or knowledge. 1st. GAP Store Card = was converted to GAP Visa - got it in the mail a month ago. Only explanation was that my account is being upgraded to better serve me. 2nd. JC Penny's Store Card = Had this one for years with no problem zero balance. = Then out of the blue got a new JCP Mastercard in the mail this past Friday. Again, no explanation. 3rd. Sam's Club Discover Card = Was product changed to a Sam's Mastercard. Now, granted this one I knew was coming and was no surprise, but it does seem odd these are own backed by Synchrony Bank. Now, to top things off, all of my reports are now showing (3) brand new open accounts being reported. My FICO has now Tanked by -40 points!! What can I do?? Anyone else having similar issue? Thanks!
  2. Hellooo! So I was shopping on the Dillard's website today and got the "pop-up" for Dillard's credit card after I entered my address and clicked next! I did NOT accept as it was only for $300 but had it been for the Amex version, I may have ... here is the screen shot. Dillard's Card Application Congratulations! 3. I'd recently read of anecdotal evidence of a shopping cart trick when purchasing on Dillard's website with some being offered a pre-approved regular Dillard's card and some being offered the AMEX version. Anyone ever heard of this or GECRB doing the pop-up for other cards in their portfolio?
  4. Perhaps someone can advise on how to proceed? A little background for those who do not know: Purchased a major-fixer-upper house last October. Had waited to pull trigger on new credit cards as did not want it to hurt mortgage approval. With repairs to home, utilization went through the roof, maybe to 85-90%. Currently have 10 credit cards or revolving accounts, 7 of which have balances, 3 do not. Another 3 have balances under $200, which could be cleared next cycle if it makes a difference. Basically, it would make a difference on number of cards with balances, but barely 1% on utilization. Overall utilization is now 48% and steadily dropping each month. Now here is the tricky part: The two accounts I would most like to see have CLI's are GECRB (Lowe's and Home Furniture) and AMEX (Delta). The issue is those have some of my higher remaining balances. The furniture was $5,000 of no interest for 24 months. So I have been paying that $200 per month for the last 7 months, but obviously that still leaves a $3,600 balance against $5,000 limit. Lowe's is a little better, as the limit is $5,200 (and I have hit it several times) but currently have it paid down to $2,2000. Amex has a $5,000 limit and a $3,000 balance. Overall, have $34,000 in revolving credit and $16,000 in balances. Credit scores in mid-to-high 600's. As noted, opened several new cards in October after mortgage closed, and two in 2014. Would GECRB and AMEX consider CLI's or should I just use what I have and wait until all the October 2013 accounts are a full year old? Also, with several other cards having no balances, I could balance-transfer the AMEX and Lowe's balances to to other cards if that would help somehow? Thanks all
  5. Hello Everybody, whats the best course of action to remove old CO's from the OC's? I have 2 from GECRB, Brandsmart and Chevron, both are zerod out and sold to collections: Midland, but Midland has removed their CA's, so now is only the OC, scheduled to be removed 09/15 an 05/16, should i send them a DV letter, Goodwill letter or ? and I also have 2 from HSBC and 1 from Credt One, scheduled to remove 01/15, 07/15 and 07/15, i send HSBC a letter but they just keep saying they have no info and contact CA?
  6. I just noticed something on my EQ report, haven't looked deeply into TU and EX, that 3 closed accounts, maybe more, that i had in a DMP with Consolidated Credit Counseling are still reporting on time payments after being closed. there were a total of 7 but 4 of them stopped reporting in 2011 when they were paid off. These three, Sears, Chase, and all three GERCB cards keep reporting on time payments up until last month. I don't know exactly what this is or why but i don't know if i should dispute them or what. No bad data other than i keep paying them nothing. They all show paid in full and closed. its just weird. Any thoughts? All show dates reported in 2014.
  7. Has anyone had experience negotiating a PFD with Old Navy or anyone under GECRB. If so was it settlement, or full balance paid and did you have to deal with any specific department. Please share experiences.
  8. Does anyone have contact information (that has yielded actual responses) for anyone in the executive offices at Merrick Bank or GECRB? I need to ask them a favor!
  9. I had a little Cap1 EO success this afternoon and when I went to record the CLI dates on my spreadsheet I realized I hadn't hit the luv button on my Belk card In over a year. I was at $1500 and I thought I might get $2k or $2500 at the most. It popped back with $4000! I guess absence made the luv button grow fonder!
  10. Got a few tradelines backed by the generous CLI-happy GECRB (like Amazon card, Walmart Card, PayPay Smart Connect, Chevron/Texaco Card, etc.)? According to this CNBC article (from 2 days ago), GE is considering getting out of the the retail card business: http://www.cnbc.com/id/100999070
  11. The lone collection I am fighting is with Cavalry, for an old GECRB/Old Navy account. I sent a goodwill letter to GECRB in June, explaining the terrible financial hardship I experienced in 2009, and begging that they simply delete the trade-line. Of course, as they charged-off the $200 or so dollars, I did not expect them to be too generous with their goodwill, but at the cost of a stamp, worth a shot. Especially since I had paid a GECRB/HHGregg from the same time in full. So while they were not made whole, they got most of the money they were owed, maybe 90%. Today, I received a letter that they were unable to locate my account based on the information I provided (name, address, partial acct# from credit report). They are asking for: Name on account, phone, current and previous addresses, DOB, last 4 of SS#, details on what I would like amended. I would love to provide this and maybe get some goodwill. But at the same time, Cavalry has failed to verify, and I do not know if the OC and the CA share info. Do you think this is a legitimate attempt to locate my account information to be able to at least consider some goodwill, meaning I am just being very paranoid, or would providing all this information be providing written documentation of what I owe and what Cavalry has been unable to verify?
  12. After reading everyone's success with credit line increases with the luv button I decided to try Lowe's and I was approved for CLI. I went from $500 to $1250. I know I shouldn't have because I'm closing in three weeks on my house but oh well. Hope it was a soft pull.....THAKS EVERYONE AT CB!!
  13. Has anyone ever registered online through Cavalry Portfolio Service's website? It tells me it cannot find the account either by my SS#, the account number, or their case #. My most recent CMRRR was received by them on 7/15. Maybe they gave up, although account has not been deleted from CRs yet? Thoughts?
  14. I opened a Sam's Club Discover a few months back at 5k and decided I would call the backdoor number today and go for 10k. After a few minutes on hold...approved for 10k! Love me some GECRB.
  15. My GF received a letter today from Cavalry Portfolio Services regarding an old Old Navy account they purchased from GECRB. Or maybe they purchased it from someone else, but GECRB was OC. The collection also hit her most recent EQ and EX reports, but not TU. The letter was sent to an old address (we still own the home, just no longer live there) and was addressed to her married name (divorced several years). The letter states that due to the age of the debt, they will not sue. I think Ohio (where she lived at the time) has a long SOL on debts, but this is 5 years old or more, hard to tell as account itself is no longer on credit reports. Both her scores fell 40 points when this hit the files. I want to make sure we do exactly the right thing, as neither of us has much experience with this type of issue. Appreciate the help!
  16. DW and I was in Lowe's the other day and we were looking at a washer/dryer set when an associate mentioned applying for the Lowe's card but I decided I would apply at a later date. When I got home I did a search on the Lowe's card and a Lowe's Visa Reward Card popped up in my results. An old thread mentioned it was once issued by CapOne but now I believe it is now issued by GECRB...I also noticed a AMEX version as well. I would love to have the Visa version...https://credit.lowes.com/LowesMarketing/marketing/LowesLogin.jsp Returning Users Sign in to your Lowe's credit account by selecting one of the following cards: Old thread: http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=250092&do=findComment&comment=4833668
