I know there are a lot of you who have either 1 or more of these cards. I believe that basically, from what I can read, they all tie in to BofA. So to my understanding, they are all underwritten by BofA, correct? Also, I realize that they all have their different benefits, but can anyone chime in on which may be a "better" choice to apply for? I don't see where there is a banking/investment account requirement for the Merill+, is that correct? Thanks CBers!

So I'm always chatty with the manager at my local branch of Regions, and today he tells me that, as of this year, they no longer use EX for consumer credit applications. Of course, I've tried to confirm this info online somehow, but he said it was an internal bank communication that notified him. I saw another thread from February where a CBer apped for a card with an HP, but it was for a business credit card, so that MAY be a differentiating factor. Or the change may have occurred after that. Or maybe my branch manager doesn't know what he's talking about...so as ALWAYS, test at your own risk. His personal estimation is that they use TU for roughly 60% of applications; EQ for the rest. I'd still put EX on ice before testing this...YMMV. (Cards are issued by FIA)

Applied for the Fido Amex and got the 30 day notice. Just got my denial letter and it cites too few accounts and a score of 740. Tough crowd there. It's not a card I particularly need right now but definitely harder than Penfed. I remember Hege talking about how much trouble he had getting it, but I thought my profile would get me there. Guess not. Just FYI.
