  1. Just noticed that my Fingerhut account has suddenly stopped reporting on TU. I've had this account since 2005 and this is the 3rd TL for Fingerhut because they've changed BANKS that handle their Credit Cards twice since I've been with them. Thankfully everytime they change it's NOT listed as a "NEW" TL but reports as being open and active since 2005. So for this 1 little Fingerhut account, it's reporting on my CR 3 times with 2 of them marked "transfered" and the 3rd one open. It had been reporting on my EQ and TU since it was transfered. But about 4 days ago it STOPPED reporting on my TU and because of this my score dropped from 789 to 780, a 9 point drop on my TU score. It's an USAA FAKO score. My TU FICO took a 2 point dip to 778 too. I'm sure it's because it had a bad impact on my AAOA, Since all 3 Fingerhut TL's were reporting 3 TL's that were 8 years old. Was wondering if anyone elses Fingerhut account has suddenly stopped reporting to their TU report. I'm hoping this is some kind of a glitch that will sort itself out ASAP.
  2. I have a question about an account that was sold to capital on from hsbc: How can I get this removed from my credit report? I have disputed this and capitol has validated that this is my account... Not sure what to do from here because they have put the date reported at 7/13. I have removed all of my old addresses and capital one says it was included in BK from 2007, I never filed BK in 2007.... so confused about this HSBC BANK xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 11/01/2005 07/01/2013 INCLUDED IN BANKRUPTCY CAPITAL ONE PO Box 5253 Carol Stream, IL-601975253 (800) 477-6000 Account Number: 515597000400XXXX Status: INCLUDED IN BANKRUPTCY Account Owner: Individual Account. 3. Got a few tradelines backed by the generous CLI-happy GECRB (like Amazon card, Walmart Card, PayPay Smart Connect, Chevron/Texaco Card, etc.)? According to this CNBC article (from 2 days ago), GE is considering getting out of the the retail card business: http://www.cnbc.com/id/100999070
  4. Hi all: I joined credit boards a few days ago and have been fascinated with the wealth of knowledge on the boards. Thanks to all who take the time to assist, comment and give their opinion. I just pulled my credit report at have TU: 696, Ex: 683, Eq: 696 on 8/7 but then 708 on 8/12 from another source. Questions: 1. Is it possible to have a credit score jump 12 points in 5 days? 2. I have a few issues: a. ratio of debt to limits is too high. I have paid down to about 30% on each card. I am thinking of applying for a credit card or two to establish more trade lines, I only have 7 open accounts today including a mortgage and 2 student loans and increase debt to limit ratio. Got an invite from Discover but honestly would get more use from a Starwood card. Should I try with these scores( they seem on the edge)? Or wait a while? b. 4-30 days late from chase mortgage in 2008. None since - does it make sense to try a good will? I read in another post that that was a long shot c. I have a paid collections account from NCO last reported 2010. I was thinking of asking for verification/validation. Can anyone verify if that collections account can only appear for 7 years after last 180 days report from the OC? If so, it seems in order to keep this on, they would have to verify OC and last 180 days report..difficult. d. I have a paid judgement from 2008. (2008 was a tough year for me) - anything to do here? I feel realistically, I am stuck. Any suggestions would be welcome Thanks in advance for any advice
  5. Hello everyone. I'm MG13! My boyfriend (future DH) was a CB'er around '06 - '07 and is now teaching me and helping me with credit (and my lack thereof). As we go through this, he is explaining what all these abbreviations mean and the best course of action to take in establishing some positive TLs. The endgame of this experience is being able to purchase a house in the next three years. He's been catching up with some of the developments since he's been out of the "credit game", and has a few questions. It does include a few quick questions including medical COs, AU's, the best tri-pullers, etc. We just recently started looking into my credit, and these are the steps we've taken so far. -(F/DH)- About two years ago, I had her opt-out online. IIRC, opting out online works for 5 years. Am I correct on this? Either way, would it be in my best interest considering her only baddies are 3 medical debts (totalling less than $500). Considering now we are going to be keeping a close eye on her credit wouldn't it be a good idea NOT to opt-out to be able to get some pre-approvals? So far, the only steps we have taken for her credit (other than the opt-out a few years ago) is to sign up for the free trial of SmartCredit (which CRA is this pulling from?). The next step I'm doing is going to sign up for a tri-puller. I'm thinking TrueCredit.com. Years ago when I was into credit repair, this was my favorite service I was using. Any better options or discount codes out there ya'll know of? Not that it matters too much, but do both of these help with B* ? Her FAKO from SmartCredit is a 694. 11 School Loans totalling around $42k (All green marks! No lates/missed payments) 1 Inquiry (attempted to get a $500 loan in January through our bank, DENIED, No recon attempt) 3 small medical collection accounts which were placed in collections in; March 2010, Feb 2011, Jan 2011. No CCs or store cards yet. She did get added as an AU on a 10+ year account with good standing. Not sure on the util, but we will see when it shows up.
  6. I had never done any biz with BOA in my life, but after they kept sending me pre-approvals in the mail I finally took them up on it. Was slightly surprised that it was instantly approved and they even gave a decent CL of $10,000 too. Not my highest but might be my "average" CL when you throw in my little cards like the BBRZ and Cap One card even after it was bumped up a lot higher via the Executive email route. The card that I got was a "better balance rewards Mastercard rewards card". Only had it going on 2 months. Now they are sending me a Pre-approvals for their "CASH REWARDS" card. So does Anyone know if you can have two primary BOA cards at the same time? Because if I decide to do this one I sure don't want to waste a Hard pull form EX only to be declined simply because I already have a card with them to begine with. Thanks
  7. I'm just starting to tackle the job of cleaning up my husband's credit. He was out of work for an extended period of time about two years ago which resulted in four credit card accounts falling into ruin. This has left him with four charged-off accounts on his credit reports and three collections related to three of the charge-offs. The balance on the charged-off accounts ranges from $2,000 - $5,000 each before all the collections fees were added. Because the credit card accounts have been sold to collection agencies, we're at the point where we need to deal with the collection agencies directly. I was hoping some of you can offer some advise on how we should proceed from here. I thought we should make a settlement offer to one of the collection agencies so we can take care of these one at a time. I don't know what we should offer, though. Also, I'm not sure if collection agencies are usually willing to do a pay for removal these days. One of the collection agencies filed a case in civil court for a little more than $6,000. My husband filed a general denial in response. We thought we should start with this particular collection agency so we can stop any further legal action. The offer we've been tossing around in our heads is $1,500. Is this in the ballpark of where we should be? I was also hoping someone can provide me with a sample settlement offer letter that included proper wording such as "without prejudice" that would not be an admittance of liability or reset the statute of limitations clock. Thank you for your help.
  8. If someone could give us some advice. Recently married, my husband has two credit cards that were opened when he was 16 by his mother. They are in good standing and have not hurt his credit score, if anything they started his credit for him. Now that we are married I would like the cards cancelled and his mom to not have access to them. We want to cancel the cards, if his mother pays off the debt and we close the two cards would it hurt his credit score? Or is it best to collect the cards from her and change the billing address and pin number? TIA
  9. Hi Guys, Has anyone been approved for more than (1) Visa card with PSECU?? If yes, what has been your experience?/ What are the pros or cons of doing this?
  10. I'm in the process of buying a new house that it's going to require some work: New roof, new HVAC, new floors, new kitchen, re-do bathroom, etc... I figured, this is perfect time (after closing), to get a credit card and start ranking some points. (I hope it comes without saying, that I'm planning to pay it off every month and keep it with a balance of not more than $5.00). (1) My first thought was to get a credit card that would give me the best cash rewards, but then I started thinking... maybe my accumulated points get me more if it's a Airfare Creditcards? If that's the case, I'll be traveling from Philadelphia (US Airways is their main airline) (2) What credit cards should I be re-searching? (3) Is it possible to set them up to pay bills over the internet? (dumb question, but I usually use my debit card for everything: I can set up to pay bills like rent straight from the Banks website, and they simply send a check. If I could do the same with a creditcard, I could cash in on all the money that I spend for Mortgage, and other bills ) I'm going to start researching different cards, but any help would be appreciated. thanks!
  11. Hello everyone, I am frustrated and need advice. So i have been working to get my cc score up to buy my first house. It was going well my score got to 630 and wells fargo said wait another month till it gets to 640. so this month comes and my score dropped 47 points due to credit card utilization. Last month i rented a car and paid it off before the bill date. the problem is i only have 2 credit cards with a 300 limit and the rental car came to 265 and then on the back end they charged me some bogus fees and went over the limit on my card by $40. I paid it off before the due date but still got hit hard. Now i may be waiting another month or two hoping it goes up. I thought that keeping your balance under 9% helped your score but does this mean during a billing month to never go above 9% on the card? To my understanding you could go higher as long as you paid it in full before the due date. It seems i am way off here. Please help. One last thing would opening up a secured card with $1000 help me get my score back up in the next 2 months by having a card with a higher limit or will that hurt me do to the hard pull? Thanks in advance

  14. I am 26 years old. Recently married (May 2011) and a financial mess! Ok, so I might not be in as bad of a situation as some....but poor enough for my own liking. I have over $15,000 worth of debt and I have no clue how to tackle it. Oh and there is a plus, my newlywed husband is in the same situation. Most of the debt is from hospital bills, and miscellaneous things left unpaid as an irresponsible teen and young adult. The major (most expensive) things are a auto loan, ONE credit card that was put in my name when I was about 17 by a family member, and an unjust court judgement placed against me. We want to buy a house in the near future, we NEED to buy a car AND we have a baby on the way! I'm scared, lost, confused and not to mention full of pregnancy hormones that aren't making me worry any less. Needless to say, I need help. ~Jacquelyn
