Hello all, Im new to the forums and am having problems. Im in the military and was up for a special assignment however, background check came back with a deliquent account from AT&T which is sold to EOS CCA. This account is now 6 years old. When I contacted AT&T about it they said they don't have the contract I originally signed. EOS CCA was very rude and raised their voice at me when I asked for validation of the account. They told me they would never settle with me again if I needed validation because it could take months. However, this is set to fall off February 2014. One of the operations manager I spoke with told me he would settle this crazy $4000 bill for $700 but would not give me anything in writing for it. I didn't agree to that as that's not a legal binding agreement. I have filed with the BBB and the ACA that they are associated with due to the way they treated me as well as no validation and this is killing me my career. What steps do I need to do from here? Any advice would be great. Thanks

In another thread I asked about what to do about a parking viloation I had that went to collections. The two prevailing ideas were to write a goodwill letter to the CA and then write verification letters to the CRAs. The ticket has already been paid, and some people said that sometimes the CA won't take the time to verify a debt that has already been paid. Regardless, everyone thought that a GoodWill letter was the best first step. My question is, is there any way that writing the GoodWill letter will help them verify the debt later if it comes to that? I've moved in the past year and the ticket is associated with an old address, so I'm wondering if somehow that can be used to make the debt hard to verify? I've already submitted letters to get my old addresses removed if that helps. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to proceede? I want to send the GoodWill letter but I'm worried that will somehow make the debt easier to verify. Thanks!

I was so excited for my upcoming app-o-rama: 5 cards (1 personal chase, 1 business chase, 1 personal AMEX, 1 business AMEX, 1 US Bank). I planned it for the 18th, and I live in NY. I have a FICO score of 765 and my transunion score is even better. This morning I got a notification from CreditSesame about a negative event on my credit report. After pulling all three credit bureau reports, I found a new collection account on my Experian report (not on the others). I found that the collection was from Online Collections, a particularly scummy agency. Its for a very small amount, $45. I was told in January from the original creditor that the debt amount was to be readjusted downward, that Online Collections was not going to have anything to do with the account and that I just need to wait for them to send me my new bill. Fastforward to today, and my credit report shows a collection for the original amount and its from Online Collections. Now, I'm sure that when I call on Tuesday morning, I'll be able to get them to agree to cooperate in removing the report from my credit score. I'm not worried about that, and I know that process should take 30-45 days. What would you all do in my situation regarding the app-o-rama? This is the way I see it: 2 options. 1: Wait until collection is removed and delay my app-o-rama by 45 days. 2: Go ahead with the app-o-rama and risk being denied from by chase, AMEX, and/or us bank. I know with Chase, if you get rejected for a card, they ask you on your applications if you have been denied for a Chase card in the past 6 months, so I usually take that as a sign to wait 6 months. I really don't want to have to wait that long to apply to Chase. The big question is, will they care about such a small collection? Collections under 100 do not get incorporated into your FICO score, as of 2009 legislation. However, the card companies WILL see the very recent tiny collection account, and I'm scared they will red-flag it anyway due to the recency of it. So, would you wait another month and a half, or would you go for it anyway?

Okay, so I have been doing fairly well on my repair journey. I am still waiting on my Equifax report in the mail after sending them my updated identification, but I looked on Citi and figured I could start with that. I have 3 things that I have questions about. 1 - Collection (TU). This was post BK and was for a gym membership that stupid me decided to sign up for a year for, and only used for a couple of months. This was about $90 a month and I just stopped paying. I eventually did PIF (8/2010), but I was not aware of this PFD stuff until recently. It is through Affiliated Acceptance Corporation (http://www.profinserv.com/). How do I go about removing this from my report? Simply call and ask? 2 - Addresses. Equifax reports my former as my current, my current as my second former, and also a former from 2007. All show as reported 12/2012. Experian has my current correct and also my 2 formers, and TU the same. I would like for only the current to be reported. 3 - Employment. Equifax does not report any, and Experian and TU both show my current and one former each. Both formers are different. How important is it for a CRA to have a current employer? Is it advisable to remove formers? Thanks! Other than that I have to let a bunch of hards fall off over the next year or so, and other than Navy I don't foresee myself pursuing any other cards (maybe an auto loan refi..). This should clear up my report and make it all accurate and current. In the meantime, I will be increasing utilization by decreasing balances. I love this board!

I called Citi Bank/Fingerhut about five minutes ago and told the CSR that my account doesnt show as IIB-I asked her if she could send me a letter showing that I was no longer liable for this account. Well I went to the fax amachine and picked up the letter and this is what was sent to me: Dear Customer: Werecieved your request for Validation of Debt. Your account has been sold to another lender; therfore you will need to contact them regarding this matter. Now what should I do from this point? I am left clueless w/this letter. I dispouted with TransUnion at thousand times and yet it still comes back verified. How is that possible if they sold it. The CSR even told me that I disputed in October. Can anyone help me with this delima?

Hi, I have an old judgment obtained by a law firm for private tuition I owed the school (I didn't know about it until a couple of years ago, though that's not an excuse.) The amount is about $4,000 although at one point this law firm sent me a settlement offer for about 1,000 less, but I wasn't able to pay it. Now I can pay it and I would like to send them a letter to settle this. Can you please advise me on the steps? 1. I will send them a certified letter offering $2,500 and will ask in return that they send me a signed agreement stating that: 1.1. They will consider the alleged debt paid in full 1.2. They will report the judgment as satisfied and the amount owed as $0 within 10 business days 1.3. They will instruct the school to remove all holds from my account within 5 business days 2. Once I receive the signed agreement from them, I will send them a cashier's check with the account number on it. Is this correct? Am I missing anything? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
