My credit took a turn for the worse in 2012 when my medical bills were turned over to collection despite me making monthly payments every month. I have went the whychat way to delete some with no luck. I do not have the funds to pay off the collections. I was told and sent a letter by the hospital billing that once I pay off the balance they would have collections delete the TL...that bill is my highest at $3600. I am saving every dime I have to get them paid off and hope by this summer I will. I do not have any CC Collections or charge offs. All of my collections are medical. I joined a credit union a year ago and finally received a CC through them and after good payments received an auto loan with a good interest (9.99%) for my credit score. My question is I need more credit. I have been researching on this creditboard credit pulls forum on what score is needed. My FICO Equifax is 580, FAKO Transunion is 605 and FAKO Experian is 592. I do have three accounts, Medical, in collections, no bankruptcy. I do have 11 hard pulls with Transunion, 3 with experian and 4 with Equifax. Upon starting my Credit Repair Journey in July My FICO with Exquifax was 556, FAKO TransUnion was 501 and FAKO Experian was 562 so I am very proud of the progress I made. My new CC has 6 months good payment in February with 20% utilization. I pay off the card every month but try to keep a low balance so CR will show I use the card. I will have my auto loan for 4 months in February with good payment. Should I wait for 6 months after my car to apply for new credit? Which cards would be the best for me to apply too? Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry in advance for the long first post. My wife has a bill from her labor & delivery in July 2013. We prepared for some expenses at the beginning of the year but did not expect complications that led to about $800 in meds and DME, and a week in the hospital for mom and baby after delivery. So after paying for the meds and DME we had a $1500 bill from the hospital. I wanted to try getting it reduced since our income is at ~150% FPL but couldn't get the paperwork figured out. Long story short, I was putting it off until we got our tax return, checking the bills for "final notice" or "past due" in case we needed to just throw it on a credit card, and I was reading the bill wrong so missed the fine print and we got a letter from the CA this week. The CA letter has our correct information and amount, plus interest. The letter reads: Your delinquent account has been assigned to USCB America to collect the balance now due. USCB is not aware of any reason for your nonpayment. If you do not dispute the amount owing, please pay the balance due. And on the back: INTEREST DISCLAIMER: In the event your account is accruing interest, be advised that because interest charges vary from day to day, the amount due on the day you pay may be greater than the total amount due referenced on the front of this notice. I tried to research what to do which is how I ended up here. I told my wife not to talk to them if they call her. The letter says the debt was assigned to the CA, not purchased by the CA, so I called the hospital billing to confirm the amount due and ask how we can pay. The hospital billing rep gave me the amount due without interest, and said we can pay them directly, but she said two things that I don't completely understand. First she said, the account is in collections, and so the CA might charge interest, even though the hospital isn't charging interest - it sounded like she was saying the CA was charging the hospital interest, but she was definitely implying that this interest was our problem, not the hospital's problem. I tried to get her to explain but all I got was that we would find out within 30 days if interest was an issue. I thought a CA can't charge interest on a debt they don't own, but if they owned the debt, 1) why would the letter say "assigned" and 2) why would the hospital still accept payment or even talk to me at all? Second thing that I didn't understand: She said when we pay the bill, the hospital will tell the CA that we paid it. That's exactly what she said, but I don't think that's what we want. It sounds like they're going to put it on the wife's credit report as a collections account. I want to just pay them off, I can put it on the credit card and worst case scenario we pay a month of interest before our tax return comes (just waiting for the W-2s, they usually come at the beginning of February from wife's employer), but only if it's going to keep the debt from going on wife's credit report. Today we pulled her reports and there are no bad marks with 2 of the agencies, we have to wait for the trans union report to come by mail because she made a mistake in the identity verification step, but she checked her credit karma account (which uses trans union) and it's not showing up there so we're assuming the account has not been reported to the CRAs. (So I don't think we can use Why Chat's HIPAA process since we have no collections account to dispute to the CRAs which is the first step.) In a perfect world here is what I would do: Send a cashier's check to the hospital with a letter insisting that they instruct the CA to nuke the account without reporting it since there is no payment due, reference applicable laws (FCRA, HIPAA, others?), and relax. Is this the right move? I'm worried that if we rush to pay the hospital they will just tell the CA to report the account as paid. And to be honest, if she has to have a bad mark on her credit either way, I would just as soon wait until we can negotiate a smaller settlement from the CA. Thanks for your advice.

Newbie here. Needing help w/ things. Been lurking and I don't think I've found this scenario yet. I haven't touched my Credit report in years. I figured my credit was in the toilet but my goal has been to fix it up and I've started this week. I've been playing catch up and think I need to work on creating various validation letters to send out to CA's. I've grouped my debt into 3 blocks: CC's and Lifestyle, Vehicle Loans and Medical Accounts. I've only been at this for two days but I am proud at how organized I've gotten. Even did a spreadsheet for myself. I must admit, I am a little disappointed after checking my real FICO score (not the FAKO). Ever since I started disputing online this week, my score has DROPPED 30 POINTS. Not very encouraging but I am trying to stick with this and not give up. I was so frustrated after seeing my score drop, I called up all my CA's to figure what information they had. What a noob mistake. I forgot that calling the CA's are a no no but I gave out no personal information so I didn't feel so bad. I even learned that one of the reps was upset to see most of my medical debt was invalid because of SOL. Calling was not ok because I know they recorded my calls, and I just hope I didn't hurt my chances of submitting a quality DV for them to remove my negative TL. A few things to keep in mind: 1. I've never declared bankruptcy. 2. I believe the SOL are in effect because it's been more than 7 years for most of this debt. 3. I have one student loan that has been transferred over time that I currently pay on time (no longer in deferment) and is the only positive item showing on my credit. I have some closed positive accounts that help my CR but not worried about those for now. 4. No longer living in the state where most of the debt occurred. (I do believe the CA's are using my new address.) Here is my grouped debt: CC's/Lifestyle = all items have been charged off from OC and have unpaid balances collecting fees with CA CC 1 (clothing) > Asset Acceptance LLC, Opened in Spring 2004, Expected to be unlisted on Experian next month, Equifax Spring 2014 CC 2 (electronics) > Asset Acceptance LLC, Opened in ??, Expected to be unlisted on Experian Summer 2014, Equifax Fall 2014 CC 3 (n/a) > Calvary Portfolio Services, Expected to be unlisted on Experian Summer 2014 CC 4 (clothing) > LVNV Funding->Resurgent->Allied Interstate, Opened in Spring 2007 CC 5 (home) > LVNV Funding ->Resurgent->Capital Mgmt Services, Opened in Spring 2007, Expected to be unlisted summer 2014 from all bureaus CC 6 (electronics) > Midland Funding, Expected to be unlisted on Experian Summer 2014, Equifax Winter 2014 CC 7 (n/a) > Midland Funding, Opened in Winter 2004, Expected to be unlisted on Experian Summer 2014, Equifax Winter 2014 Rental Bill (ex damaged walls but I need to pay for it) > National Credit Systems, Opened in Winter 2011 Utility Bill (ex refused to pay his share but it was in my name) > name of CA withheld, Winter 2008 n/a = actual credit card not tied to a particular store or use. Used everywhere. Vehicle Loan Credit Union > name of CA withheld> opened up in Spring 2004, high balance reported but car was given back to dealer in 2008. Never listed as a repossession. Expected to be unlisted summer 2015 on all bureaus and become positive, unpaid account. Medical Accounts 8 ER bills all sent to various collections, opened up in 2007 but all expected to be removed from CR beginning next month into the spring 2014. I HAVE ONE CAP1 CREDIT CARD NOT IN COLLECTIONS WITH A HIGH BALANCE. Opened up in Summer 2000, expected to be unlisted in Winter 2014 from all bureaus. They said they won't sue and that I just need to pay. Any idea why this may have not been sent out to collections? They want to settle for half. I hung up the phone. High balance. I guess my question is this: If the CRA's are going to remove the item off their bureau is there even a point to writing DV's to the CA's seeing all this time has passed. Since I made the mistake and called them today, will they try to say the SOL is not in effect and attempt to collect all over again? And for the two accounts that were passed to multiple CA's do I only do a DV for the CA willing to settle the debt or them all including the parent CA? I need help in determining if the following DV is good enough to send out to the majority of my CC's and Lifestyle/Vehicle Loan debt. I plan to use the HIPAA DV sample for the Medical Account debt but being a perfectionist, I want to make this right. SAMPLE DV Letter My Name.... My Address on file Date of Letter By Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested Name of Debt Collector Address of Debt Collector Re: Account # ?? To Whom It May Concern: The letter is written in response to the letter/call I received from your office dated. I respectfully ask, pursuant to my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, that your office provide me with suitable validation of the debt. I would like to emphasize that this letter is not refusal to pay, but simply a request for proof of legitimacy of my obligation. This said, the proof of the obligation should be complete and should include copies of the following documents: 1. The agreement with the original creditor that authorized you to collect this on behalf of this debt. 2. The agreement reflecting my signature that confirms my acceptance of the obligation. 3. The complete payment history of this account. Until your office fully complies with my validation request, I expect there will be no further action on your part to collect this debt. Additionally, if your office fails to reply to this letter within 30 days of receipt this account is expected to be deleted from my credit file and no further efforts to collect this debt can be made. Sincerely, name print only

I have a Merrick card, formerly Hooters that I had been running high UTL on. Recently decided to take out a small loan from my CU to pay off my higher interest credit card debt (about 4000 total). Anyway, I paid off the Merrick card, so I should be showing 1700 in available credit, however it only shows 875. Is this the start of me getting CLD or is Merrick holding back a portion of my CL until the check "clears." It would suck to go from 1700 to 875. It's also my oldest card so I would hate to have to cancel it.

hello all, i recently started trying tom fix my credit after filing for bankruptcy in 2007, then dropping that case due to not filling out paperwork in time.. then filing again in 2009 and once again getting it dropped because I had not complied with with the court correctly, basically i had one really pissed of creditor who fought me the whole way and caused me to get it dropped. I was a homebuilding contractor back then, so I had a lot of trade lines. I tried to forget about it for a long time but here I am again trying to get the credit rocking again. Anyways I have a to of charge offs I would love to get off, but the real reason I am posting is that I haven't had any bad credit post in about three years, lol due to the fact that I was involved in a car accident that had left me a paraplegic. I started rebuilding my credit by putting some of my savings in the form of secured credit cards. applied bank 3000, and capitol one 2000,and they recently bumped me up 300 dollars!e but 9/12 i had a cell phone bill from at&t post up by enhanced recovery company for 1200 dollars. I am moving in march-april and need to get a new place. do I a) pay the bill or b)try to dispute it and work that whole angle. Also I have called them and updated my address with them and also talked to them about settling the debt for half as much 650.00. Question Can I get it removed if I do end up paying them? And is it easier to get it emoted if i pay all or settle and pay half? I would love any advice. thanks!!!

Hello everyone, I am a newbie, but I have been reading the forums, and I decided to try and goodwill two consecutive 30-day lates with Discover. I emailed the CEO and another Exec the first time, and got a call with the usual "we have to report, can't change, blah blah blah." I waited a month and sent another pair of emails. This time, I got a call...the woman (in an annoyed voice) said "This letter was the same one I received from you in November, right?" And then re-iterated what she said last time. It wasn't the exact same letter, but, obviously, the content was similar, as it is my story. Has anyone else run into this? I haven't read anything like it so far... Has anyone been successful with Discover late deletes recently? Or not? These lates are the only lates on my report, and Discover has been super stiff about it. Thanks for any input or stories.

Hello, I read recently that someone had some baddies removed on Experian, once the had some of their old addresses removed? Is there any truth to that and what kind of impact have you had removing old addresses? What are the pros and cons to removing old addresses.

Soooooooo...a few weeks ago I had posted regarding the 3-5 day message from NFCU regarding a limit increase to my card that is already pretty high util due to some unexpected circumstances that required flights home for my family. I had only asked for $500 in hopes of not seeming too greedy and the next morning after receiving the message I noticed that my limit was in fact increased from $4500 to $5000 The card has since been paid off in full finally and for the heck of it I figured I'd ask for a larger increase. Lo and behold I received immediate approval for an increase to $7000!!! This is pretty high for me considering most of my cards are retail store accounts with small under $1k limits. Working on paying the rest of them off and letting them age and using them for small purchases just to keep the accounts active. Because I'm in the process of moving all of my accounts and financial business over to NFCU I also decided to app for the Overdraft Protection (I think it's what everyone calls NavCheck?) and was immediately approved for the $3k I asked for. My scores are still waaaaaaaaaaaaay below where I want them but hopefully as I pay more and more things off over the next year they'll keep getting higher and higher and I'll be able to app for a home loan with NFCU in Spring of 2015. To anyone struggling with rebuilding credit: I'm right there with you. I haven't had any BK or anything like that but I've made some stupid financial decisions and stretched my limits and had a couple late payments and temporary unemployment so I'm currently sitting in the 590's across the board. But I'm starting to see the light at the end of the financial destruction tunnel thanks to NFCU lol don't give up!!!

Hello all, hopefully someone can help me with this. I opened a Fingerhut "Fresh Start" back in August of this year and purchased a small item and paid it off. Recently, on Nov 11 they sent me an email stating that I have graduated from Fresh Start program to a regular credit card with $250 limit. So I was getting excited thinking that this account would be considered "revolving" and not "installment" on my credit reports. I checked my Equifax today and it says that my Fingerhut account is "Closed" by me, which is untrue. Should I dispute this or call Fingerhut and tell them?? Thank you for your help.

I received a pre-approved offer for a rewards credit card from a bank I use for personal checking and savings, Wells Fargo. I've had a relationship with them for years, get my pay direct deposited, and typically maintain an average monthly combined balance of a couple thousand dollars. Is this a good card/bank for building credit and CLIs? As I've previously posted, I'm rebuilding credit after bankruptcy (Chapter 7, discharged a year and a half ago). I've got two credit cards, accounts opened through mailed offers: credit lines below $1000, have been using them, keeping utilization ratio around 60%, and paying off balance in full each month. Currently, my balance is $0 on both cards, in anticipation of applying for this offer.

Hello all! A little history, I've been in business for 2-years. Just recently began researching building my business's credit. I logged into the iUpdate DnB website to obtain my business's DnB report, and was shocked to see an item listed, even though I have not previously applied for anything in the past. My business had ZERO credit. It listed it as a 'Cash Experience' with the "largest high credit" of $750. It contains no information on it's payment in terms of the days until it was paid. Below this, it states under "Payment Details" that it was reported on 5/13 with nothing stated under "now owes" or "payment due". It just states that mysterious $750 amount as the high credit. It has the Selling Terms listed as "Cash Account", and has the last sale as "within 1 mo". (should i be scared?) Is this a mistake by Dnb?? I have no clue as to what this could be or even how to find out what it could be! Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone. This is my first post on here. I am a long time reader though. I know there are a lot of experienced folks on here so I have come today with a question of my own. I had an issue with my health insurance (preexisiting condition) and now they don't want to cover my back surgery. Its a lumbar fusion and you won't believe how much it cost- Its costing $170,000 approximately. I have tried to just live with the pain but I'm on serious pain meds and its been difficult on my body. I don't want to be on this forever either. I am able to pay $70,000 without tying up too much cash, but the rest I must find financing. Here are my stats: Student loan: $30,000 (two separate ones for 10,040 and 19439) Credit cards: CL/Current balance Chase sapphire: $50000 cl / 6000 balance Fidelity: $50,000 CL/ using 7000 BOA: $20000 CL/ 4000 in use Chase: $3300 CL / $0 Discover: $7500/ $500 Barclays: $7500/ $0 Amex Costco $1100/ $0 Citi AA $32,000/ $1000 Citi Divi $5000/ $0 Space coast credit union - $15000 loan (but paid that in full so it should update on credit soon). I pay my cards in full each month for each card and I notice that the balance is reported with whatever the statement closes with. My income is $345000/yr and I do not have any mortgage. I want to apply for $100000 from wells fargo but I have quite a few inquiries on my credit from this past year with CL increases. Also, I read somewhere that people get denied because of low credit balances, so I was wondering if I should not pay in full for when I go to apply? I have had balances as high as $120,000 on a my sapphire above the limit and I paid it in full before the statement closed so it wasn't reported as over the CL. I have seen my report where it says high balance of $81,000 before. I know with the new obama care theres maybe a chance etc etc but please just answer in terms of having to apply for this loan. I really would like to hear what you all think. Thank you in advance-

As I reflect back on this year, it has been a GREAT year for me credit-wise...this time last year I had a total of $2900 in credit lines. Since then I've accomplished the following: obtained $51,900 in additional credit left my cheating spouse...freudian slip purchased a new home raised my credit scores above 720 (still after that elusive 760+) got my last baddie off EX after years of fighting None of this would have been possible without the knowledge I've gained over the years I've been a member here and at another forum I participate in. The only thing that remains on my list is to purchase a new vehicle but I use public transportation so I'm in no big hurry. I only hope others have had as much success as I've had and looking forward to paying it forward in the days and years to come. Future goals are to harpoon the white whales in my siggy and garden afterwards if I get 'em. How was your year?

Hi, I have a bond for deed that I have been paying on time for the past 1.5 years. It will commence in April of next year. The house currently is valued at about 140k and the balance in April will be approx. 70K. I have a score of around 660 and my wifes at 600; also not a very extensive credit history. I had a bankrupsey 8 years ago and just started rebuilding a couple of years ago. I have a combinded income with my wife of 100K with no other loans except her student loan on the reports. Does anyone know how I should start to get this property refinanced in April and what my chances are? Thanks

I'm posting this because I'm tired of people syphoning my information and thinking it's okay to collect my personal private information just because they want to go into the business of selling records. The government really needs to limit who can open up a business and start collecting this type of data. There should be FBI clearances to even start a business such as this. Seems like everybody and their mama has access to this kind of stuff and it's rather disturbing the kind of data floating around about a person in places we've never even heard. I've been reading the boards and want to venture in cleaning up LexisNexis. It appears these hounds think they are above the law because they "are not a credit reporting agency" and can do whatever they want with your personal information. Hi CBers, I closed on my new home the end of June (closing date in sig) and I assumed it would take a couple of months for it to report. However, it has been almost four months and it is still not reporting. Is this normal? Does it matter who holds the note and whether they report? Is there an advantage for me if it doesn't report...ever? Thanks for any feedback.

I am new here on the forums and on my journey of credit recovery. On my credit report I have 9 negative reports. Five in which I believe I can handle on my own since they were medical bills and my insurance was suppose to cover it. In Collections: MidLand Funding LLC - OC Tmobile - 754 RENTDEBT AUTOMATED COLLE( OC 2 East 8th APTS) - 2,051 FAIR COLLECTIONS AND OUT( OC 2 East 8th APTS) -2,051 How can the same debt be on my credit report twice under two different CA? Is there anything I can do about that? Then there is some credit card debt.. Citi Bank - Collection / Charge-Off - 1,443. I really don’t even know where to beginning. I’ve read so many things. The first thing I wanted to tackle was the citi bank charge off because one I am still getting statements from Citi and my balance is growing interest. I didn’t even think that was possible because when I called them they said my account was closed and now in the hands of a collection agency. When I contacted the CA (xMonarch Recovery Management) about a PFD they said they weren’t able to do that I would have to ask Citi. But they did try to cut me a settlement of 350 on my debt of 1443. Should I take it and then just try to get the paid charge off off my CR? Can anyone give me some advice to handle these negative accounts on my CR? Thank you

I was checking balances via Manilla today and noticed that my available credit had increased with Kay Jewelers which I've only used twice since getting the card in December 2012. I went to Kay's website to confirm and sure enough my credit limit had been increased to $6300 from $3900...$2400 CLI . I guess my low overall UTI and PIF habit paid off...can't explain it but I'm happy. I'm assuming it was a SP but will confirm when I remember who they initially pulled. All my reports are frozen but I know that doesn't apply to current creditors.

I have been reading for a while, still confused. I made a screen name so I can ask questions. Geez, I don't even know where to start, dispute or validate, opt out, etc. I want to do a 1-2 punch but I feel like I would mess it up. There is an address on my EX and EQ that NEVER belonged to me! I can't get my free report from TU, i don't know why. I feel overwhelmed! If I dispute the prior and false address on my report would they have 45 days (because) to fix as opposed to 30? Also, a collection from midland is being disputed (as said on both reports) and IDK why, i didn't initiate it on EX but I did dispute on EQ and it came back verified. BOGUS!!!! . However, the information is wrong. Its an EXTREMELY inflated collection from TMOBILE (I owed them in the ball park of $800-1000) but somehow it became $1,900+! And reporting as open or gone to collections in 2011. I had Tmobile from march 2008-2009(november of 2009 is when I was about 60 days overdue and never paid them ,I got sprint. They started sending me collections in 2010 but I know I Can't find them. I'm not sure if midland sent the collections or not but it was a collector.). So the latest it should report delinquent is mid 2010? Did Midland reage my account? When I dispute to a CRA, should I write in blue ink on legal paper or what? Is that out? Should I only dispute after I validate? I feel like I had a plan before I saw my credit report, and now Im baffled for some reason. Can anyone help? Back in 2010 I applied for USAA AMEX Cash rewards card and sadly wasn't approved for that but they did offer me a USAA Classic Credit the with a limit of $1500. Fast forward 1 year and I call in for a Credit Limit increase and was told that THIS particular card was not available to receive a CLI and would NEVER be given a CLI. I then applied for the AMEX Cash Rewards card again and thankfully I was approved this time. I just sock drawered the Visa only using it every 6 months for gas. Last week they sent my replacement cards for the VISA and I seriously was considering canceling it. Haven't even activated the cards yet when I got a letter from USAA yesterday. In NUT SHELL they said, CONGRATS, based on your excellent payment history USAA is pleased to upgrade your card ending in XXXX to the following features: No annual fee (didn't have one to begin with) USAA Cash Rewards program (That was new) Low variable Annual Percentage Rate of 12.900% (I like it, I like it a lot) Ability to make Cash Advances and Balance Transfers with your account (That's new) You have a USAA checking account, you can use your card for overdraft protection (new) We've increased your credit limit from $1,500.00 to $14,000 (Holy Cow, I'm speehless) Your account number is the same, This upgrade doesn't require that you activate a new card, so go ahead, take advantage of these great features and your new credit limit today! So, that was all out of the blue and totally unexpected. I NEVER thought they would upgrade this card because as you know when you get a secured credit card wtih them it will NEVER be upgraded. Wife has had one for 4 years and her scores are higher than mine and I just made the 800 club last week and they've NEVER upgraded her card. Of course we KNEW this when she got the secured card. I just figured they would not upgrade this one. for those of you out there that apply for a product and they offer yo a lessor one, "TAKE IT".

When applying online, I received message "Pre-approved $$$$$ at %%" and I chose the accept button. The message states a loan officer will contact me within next business day with any questions. Is the amount listed in the message the actual offer of credit being extended or that I could receive an amount up to that line?

I have a charge off from HSBC that was listed on my report on 12/1/2004. IT has apparently been in collection for about 8 years, without ever being paid. In light of trying to get a mortgage, I have been trying to get this paid for the past 18 months!!!! I keep getting the run around from HSBC and Capital one and they can never find the account listed anywhere. Back in February, I did finally get someone to find it, made the full payment for the account in the amount of 580.00 and sent it to the address specified. Here I am 7 months later, they have never cashed the check, and they can not find the account. I am diligent in calling every month trying to figure out how to get this resolved and removed (or marked as paid) so that I can get this mortgage! Can someone please give me some advice as to what I can possibly do here. I am at my wits end!!! Oh, and they also marked my account as FP on all three bureaus in February, for the first time since 2005 as well. It dropped my score 60 points! Help!!

I will try to make this as to the point as possible: A number of years ago, a lot of stuff happened and I ended up getting screwed over by family which caused me to run up a lot of debt. Then a couple of years ago, I had a high amount of debt on one of my American Express accounts. The catch with this account is that it has to be paid in full every month. So I was paying $1,000 a month to pay this card off, but because that wasn't the full amount, I was getting hit with a late payment to my credit score every month for 6+ months. I called and talked to them when this first happened and at first they told me, "Don't worry we'll have those removed in 3 months." Then after 3 months they told me, "I'm sorry someone told you that, we'll actually remove them when the card is paid off." Then I was told once it was paid off, "Those should be removed within the next 6 months." And then I was finally told, " I'm sorry you were told that, but we cannot do that." Or something a long those lines. Long story short, my credit, which had previously been very good, has been crushed by a card requiring payment in full every month, even though I was paying $1,000 every month. Is there anything that I can do about this? Thanks

Hey Everyone, Been away for a bit - but I am back, hope you all are well . Just wanted to share my recent CU app-o-rama results, especially for those with BK histories. I am a little over a year out, and I am having good results - Got Discharged in 7/2012. Also to share some insight into a few of the popular CU's and trends that we hear about. Before 1 year Mark: Nfcu Nrewards Secured: 1K - 7/2012: This was AUTOMATICALLY unsecured unbeknownst to me at the 12 month mark. I know we have all heard stories that they do, and then we have heard that they DONT. Well, they did for me. It was when I called to find out who I could speak to about starting the process, the rep was like "sir, your card was unsecured 2 weeks ago and we have deposited your Funds back into your savings. Needless to say I was shocked Apple FCU Secured Visa: 1K -9/2012 - I just this week got this unsecured and transferred to a MyRewards Visa They use TU98 Fico, which they said was 643. Toyota Financial: 0% APR 3 months out of BK, said Auto-Fico TU was 650 at the time. Barclay Apple Visa - 2.2K - 1/2013 - They did not increase me at the 6th statement, but I don't want to push them too hard just yet. First unsecured card 6 months Post-BK. Nfcu CashRewards - 2.5K - 3/2013 - They started me at 2.5K, my second unsecured card 9 months out, and recently as last month upped it to 6.5K, at the time last month my EQ Fico was 649. My recent Results: SDFCU (State Dept) EMV Visa - Took a chance with them since they use EX, waiting for this month's PSECU Fico, but they said it was 663 today. They do seem to be fairly BK friendly, I know they can be hit or miss, but they just called as I am typing this and gave me 3K to start. American Heritage FCU - Another EX puller, gave me 3K Card to start, and 2K PLOC and also said my EX was 663. They want to take it slow they said, but feel confident it will increase within a few months. GE-Walmart - Applied in store last week and had to call in, they approved 1.5K and I am waiting on the card. FUNNY thing with this one is, I applied in February and they declined and pulled from EX. In December they pulled from TU and declined as well. THIS TIME, and almost 10 days later, still no INQ on any of the bureaus, but instant approval and it is already reporting on all 3 bureaus? Oh well, I will take it Overall 1 year later: all Ficos are close to or over 650, and I have lower APR cards then before BK when I was in the 700's, plus more overall credit.
