  1. I'm going to start to go back to college this upcoming fall term. Going to Pitt and only taking one class, it will cost a bit over $3k (4credit class + materials). Now my company is paying for it, depending on the grade I get. A = 100%, B = 90%, C = 80%... etc and will be paid immediately upon turning in my final grade w/ receipts. Pulling that money from my savings would kill me. Would I be better putting it onto a credit card or pulling a loan from my 401k? And can someone please explain to me how I would do that and what all must be considered with a 401k loan? I've never done anything with my 401k other than put money in. Thank you!
  2. I've received an invitation to apply for a Sun trust Cash Rewards MasterCard via email. It includes a reservation code. The funny thing is they sent this to me 3 times via email with the same reservation code and this time it says " This is your last opportunity to take advantage of the SunTrust Cash Rewards Credit Card". Is this card worth the hard pull? My FICO score across the 3 CRA's is in the 670's but I have several baddies that are about to fall off in the next 3 to 6 months. Any thoughts/recommendations. Thanks!
  3. Ok so this morning I checked my reports and noticed that my balances were all reporting for maximum efficiency. Only my Amexes hadnt reported yet. USAA 700 limit $2 bal Amazon 1.2k limit $0 bal Amex green not reporting Amex EDP 1k not reporting Eq myfico scorewatch 749 Reports are squeaky clean Went into Navy applied for personal loan $8k, and LOC $15k. LOC was an instant approval. The personal loan was conditionally approved pending paystubs, and bank statement, which have been submitted. So it was a happy day! But wait theres more! Just appd online for their signature visa...instant approval for 17k! From 2.9k in revolving credit to 33.9k in one day!
  4. Background: Three of my CCs were CO after I was laid off. I am working to rehabilitate my credit with a slim savings account. After successfully applying for a secured CC, I awakened the Cap1/Northland mutuant by giving the CRAs some positive activity and my current mailing address. Naturally, Northland sent me settlement offer a few days ago. Why this is an issue: Thanks to the contributors here, I know Cap1 keeps great records and dilligently wrecks my CR on a monthly basis. Therefore, getting this "baddie" off my CR is on the to-do list. However, I can't afford Northland's settlement offer. Where I could use your advice: Should I '1-2' Northland/CRAs before requesting a lower settlement offer or would doing so push this settlement offer, and any potential lower offer, off the cliff of reality? The economics: -CO Balance: $2,500 -Settlement Offer: $1,250 -What I can afford to settle: $600-$800 Thank you in advance. This board is the definition of community in the 21st century. Tunnel vision is blinding and I am prone to it. If there are better plans of action I sincerely hope you'll share them. -The Indignant Kitten "Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens" - K.G.
