The master 2005 BK7 filers countdown clock... (10 years)
spongenotbob posted a topic in Credit Forum
10/17/2005 was the implementation date for the fabulous "new law" for BK, which lead well over a million americans to file for bankruptcy in the 2 months just prior to implementation. Many of us here are looking forward to 10/2015 to finally have this drop off. However, I know it's possible that some might fall off sooner. The purpose of this thread is to report when people actually start to see their 2005 BK7's drop. For me... BK7 still reporting on all 3 reports (despite my best efforts). Filed 10/2005. No IIBs or any other indications of the old BK left. Thanks! -
Wow, hard to believe I've been a part of CB for 10 years. I initially joined when I was looking for help to fix up our credit in preparation for buying a house - which we did, in June 2005, then lost to BK/FC in 2010. We've been mostly happy with renting since then, but now that DH and I are both secure in our employment (as secure as can be these days, anyway), we're starting to think about buying again. I pulled our FICOs this morning to see where we're at and - hoooo boy. My credit is actually in about as good of shape as its ever been, although there's defnite room for improvement - EQ 669 / EX 667 / TU 632. When we bought almost 10 years ago I was struggling to get to a 640 mid. I've opened some new credit - CapOne, Sears MC, and Amazon, and went back to school in 2012 so I have school loans reporting positively (even though they're in deferment for at least two more years). We also bought a car this past January - in my name only, at 0.9% (put down >20%). At a glance, my only real baddies are the stuff reporting as IIB. DH on the other hand...we've done absolutely nothing with his credit since the BK. Neither of our vehicles have his name on them. He had one card that we opened not long after the BK to get through a tight patch and then stupid, stupid, stupidly let go to C/O. He's got student loans in default up the wazoo - that's a whole other credit fix-em-up challenge that I am NOT looking forward to, but it is what it is. His scores: EQ 544 / EX 534 / TU 501. Ouch. So here I am again, re-reading and re-learning.
