You have read on here and other places about the flaming hoops and alligator infested swamps that borrowers are needed to cross in order to actually receive the PSLF??

Oh God Yes, and the way I paid my loans even though I was in IBR I was looking to wipe them out completely, in less than 10 years. so I wouldn't qualify anyway. You need 120 payments made during the time you were working at a public sector job, and in the IBR, essentially you have to be attending school working full time in public sector and making payments during that time to qualify for it, A friend of mine was a pharmacy tech as she went through Pharmacist school and paid her loans throughout thinking she would qualify, Nope. ,

IF and that's a big IF they give it to you.

  2. During Rehabilitation you still face garnishment, until you complete 5 monthly qualifying payments. So you will have to make 5 rehabilitation payments during the time you are faced with the garnishment. After the 5th payment garnishment stops. Rehabilitation takes a 10 months and then your loans are resold to a loan servicer, which gives you options again forbearance, income driven repayment, etc. however you can only rehab once,

When Rehab is setup your minimum qualifying payment is 5 dollars.

As far as consolidation, I cannot answer that I was under the understanding you cannot do consolidation when you are already facing garnishment. Someone who knows more may be able to chime in.

  3. I don't agree with the discharging of student loans. Its just adding to the problem, by saying just go get an education, if you cant pay you can get out of it,

I am in agreeance with centex, the options for people who have student loan debt are plentiful, forbearance, Income Based Repayment, and certain other programs are out there to assist a borrower no reason for a default,

I thought I would have qualified through the Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness, but by the time I am eligible I'll have no student loans anyway,

I do have some large bonuses and a enormous amount of bills coming off the books in early 2021. My plan is to buy my lease out with a loan and then pay it off in early 2021 and just have my wifes auto loan.

2021 is still a year and a half away, 2 years depending on when you are getting the bonuses, and getting bills off the books. Can you keep yourself afloat till then without causing any damage?

  5. Are these Federal Student loans or Private Student loans.

Federal Student Loan Default can be rehabbed only once, and contingent you make the on time monthly payments for 9 months. The "default" will be removed but the lates will not, However defaulted federal student loans are subj. to wage/tax garnishment, So over the last 20 years I am sure the Government got some of their money

On the other hand, Private Student loans are subj. to the standard SOLs, and Credit Reporting as dictated by State and Federal Laws.

As far as federal loans go, you are ineligible for any Federal Programs, Home loans, Student Aid, etc until they are out of default status.

  6. Your leasing 2 vehicles?

Any possible way, to maybe drop to one lease and buy a cheaper used car even if its for yourself? I was in you boat before I had 2 car payments one for me one for the Mrs. I was paying almost 800 month just for cars, I managed to have enough cash set aside to do a sale on my car and pony up the difference in value, vs actual payoff. Went to a cash car,

My DW did a lease up until last year, it made sense because she works primarily from home and maybe does 20 miles a week. now I commute about 5 miles to work, So I let her have my car, if she needs it, and I take my SUV to work, I have one car payment, and not worried about mileage.

  7. First things first,

Where are you pulling the reports from? Often 3rd Party Vendors such as Credit Karma, are using older reports and the updated information does not reflect what is actually shown at the big 3. I have seen using Credit Karma myself where items where shown on my Credit Karma Pull, that did not exist on my actual Credit Report from TU, or EQ, CK said I had a 505 score vs. TU actual of 695, Oh and they suggested since I Had a 300 dollar balance on my revolver, and 20k student loans balance that I was overwhelmed and should file BK, That will fix my student loans for sure HaHa

As someone else has already stated, The reported opening date is when the CA received the account for collection and open the account on their behalf,

The Date Of First Delinquency is the date you want, the SOL clock starts at the DOFD not when the CA receives the account. Unless you reset the SOL by taking action on the account.

Something to be wary of, Years and years ago my Ex Spouse had a repossession that I signed for, dumb move I know. However about 4 years ago, Right when it was about to fall off for the 7 year mark, and was well out of the SOLs for Civil Arbitration. I got a letter in the mail from a CA asking me to make an arrangement on it. I mean it was about to die a natural death in a month. If I would have made an arrangement Boom 7 years all over again. and now I reset the clock for Civil Arbitration. I tossed it. and let it die

In short, Find out when the DOFD was, that's what starts the clock. If you are out of SOL, try a DV letter, if the collection been sold a few times since it was first charged off, The paperwork to validate is often lost, and they have no leg to stand on,

Second go ahead and refresh through Psych Docs Primer, a lot of info in there that is still valid 14 years later,

PFD should be an absolute last resort, as it hardly ever works, CAs employees will promise anything that you ask for as long as you pay the bill, That's their job, harass you for money, you bite they got what they wanted, And they use the tactic over and over again knowing that a Verbal promise is not a legally binding contract, Also if you admit to the debt in writing, you reset the SOL

  8. this showed up in my work e-mail,

RIght away I shot a message to my Lt. in the Sherriffs Dept. and he responded with don't be a %%&$&@ however he found it funny as well.

    Heres how this situation works

    1. a 911 dispatcher is to believe what their caller tells them no matter how messed up as it sounds, so this lady believed she had a break in, from the article I am assuming he was short on TP?

    2. the rules of a first responder, you can't be helpful if you are incapacitated, so the responder heard rustling,s scene safety called for backup believed his compliantant, and made an appropriate assessment, I am sure they didn't know what to do, when they breached the door to find a stuck Roomba.

  9. I drink the stuff at work, we all put a buck into a pot every week. that covers coffee, coffee creamer, sugar filters etc.

The local cheapest place is 1.24 for a mug refill, so I pay less for just swinging into work semi early filling my mug and not being part of the morning rush.

Millennials are all about social status, ooohhh look at me I buy startbucks every morning, well that's great, Ill watch my bank grow as you sip on your 5 dollar drink that will be gone by 9am

  10. My neighbor has this company,

Besides the fact that she is not very up front when I offered to help her if she would show me information. a Sales and Finace contract. or log into financial information you have to look at a few things

    1. American Credit Finance is apparently one of the worst companies to work with, they are not very informative or consumer friendly

    2. if you loan is in "collections" or "default" read your finance contract, they may have a "default rate" at which you are paying a incredible amount of interest to their benefit.  Marv may know more on auto finance with a secured loan, but from what I gathered about this company they can adjust the interest rate similar to a default rate on a credit card/

    3. as long as you continue to pay, they are winning, a defaulted and repossession leaves them with a car they will lose their asses on in auction, and a sell off of the debt to a collection agency for pennies on the dollar, They get to write it off, but they benefit more from receiving the payment on a regular basis

  11. Primerica is still in business? A friend of mine not super intelligent, but not a complete moron got tied into it. He works for his dad with the intention of when his dad retires he takes over the business. Had a post about how he can change my life with 30 minutes of time, so I had to hear it out as I never gave that company any time as I look at it as a,legal loopholed pyramid scheme,

Listened to his spiel, and forced him to answer difficult questions, then I asked how he is fairing out, in his monthly payments, yeah stalled right there.

  12. Thanks Brazen, it's good you got a good hubby who takes care of his new children, as a parent I could never forget my children or trot them around a new gf. Etc I actually prefer to stay single. As being a single parent is time consuming. And I have a hard enough time balancing my time.

She does the same thing new hubby time to showboat, she keeps me as a friend on Facebook and since I can be a vindictive prick. I pretend like nothing is wrong, I'll communicate and such like I'm calm and relaxed, and not make mention of everything. It's the calm before the storm

People who post comments on Facebook suggesting to parents of obviously homely children how handsome/beautiful their kids are.

Tell them their kids are homely, or need a good scrubbing, change of clothes and a haircut, and the Facebook cops get after you, I just ignore it, I won't say beautiful or handsome just to be nice, why encourage such behavior
I got a nephew who ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Parents not much better either. Nephew did something stupid and parents mention it on Facebook. I mention on Facebook, that things like this will happen when you conceive children at Red Lobster.

    They didn't take that well.

I think your giving a little bit more credit than deserved "Red Lobster"

Stop b!tching... at least you had one parent that almost gave a sh!t.

Yeah those COURT-ORDERED payments are evidence of real caring. So were his countless jaunts to Barbados with his secretary.

Meanwhile his two children lived in a house that had no food in it, because the Fifth Avenue fashion model wanna be said she didn't want to have food around because it's too potentially damaging to her figure.

unleashedfury, I hope this issue you are facing does not become too big of a headache.

Thanks sidewinder, I love my kids I absolutely do, if truthfully my children where getting a proper upbringing and if my money was going towards the children I wouldn't complain one bit, but I honestly know better, before I got my kids she was getting 1k a month from me, would drop my kids off and say oh they need clothes and haircuts and this and that. So with the 1k you get you can't spare a few hundred to make sure our children's needs are met? How I got my kids was she dropped them off one weekend and never returned fought with me about how her child support payments should resume so I can support her & her bf at the time. The court obviously saw it otherwise when they found out the children live with me
