  1. Snowpuppy's advice is spot on. I would want to focus on the Student Loan aspects, because there are some vital differences in these laws and regulations. In addition, it may be worth noting U of Phoenix may be more responsive to BBB complaints lately, since the huge lawsuit they lost last year. BBB got us nowhere. They claimed they couldn't disclose any actual info to the BBB because of student privacy issues, but that they had replied to us. The reply was another long letter outlining every contact they'd ever had and how my husband signed blah, blah, blah. And yes, the loans were private, wells fargo. It was RIGHT before the dept of ed took it all over. But the pell was the issue, not the loans, so an ombudsman may still listen/help. We'll give it a shot, thanks. Have you searched this board for University of Phoenix? I was in the same situation just before I purchased my house and UOP put something on my credit report but I was able to get it removed by emailing a contact person at UOP. I got the information from a poster. It could work for you. I will look in my emails. I believe I still have the name and email address. I will post it in a few minutes. Any chance you found this? Been dealing with these people for the last 6 months and are about to give up. Worst part of all of it is the degrees they are suing people over are worthless. For profit schools are crap.
  2. I am not seeing these prices when I go. They seem to be different every time I click it. The highest I can get is 279 total bill.
  3. Working on my sons credit and he has been denied for almost every card. Kays, Victory Secret and Dell are the only ones who gave lines of credit. As for the rest I mailed in recon letters and 4/6 worked. Cap 1 and Chase both said no, even sent a 3rd recon to chase and still a no. Amex, Amazon, Best buy, and Macys all worked with a recon. Amex I am shocked over, the blue cash card and my recon was total crap. Most of the denials where because of a thin file so I had to call when I received all the cards and do all the verification questions. None have asked any thing about a bank yet, besides if he had one in the initial app.
  4. My situation was a little different because I used to have good credit but it got destroyed while i was in iraq. I brought my credit back to life with a cap1 card and an orchard, both with annual fees and low limits. They serve their purpose. After 3 months I added a gas card, look into store cards and other easier to get cards like firestone or places that you shop. Once I had some new history showing that I will pay on time, I contacted old creditors and had them reopen old cards and reinstate limits and remove late payments, scores jumped back, then i hit up the big cards. Try not to use more than 30% of your limit on the cards and always pay in full. Credit monitoring is a good idea to track progress, even though FAKO scores don't mean much they usually move in the right direction when something good happens. Biggest obstacle for you will be jumping from low limit cards to big limit cards. Look into a secured card at a local credit union. Any memory of what creditors did this? My wife has some 50 closed accounts over the years and would love to reopen some. Every single time I have ever asked any place I have always got a firm no and they wont talk any more about it. chase, usaa, cfna/firestone I had to email/write executive services or CEO's and explain my story. Frontline customer services reps can't or don't know how to do much. K Ty. None of those are on our list

  6. I am like 1/40 probably on PFD. The only one that i got actual letter head PFD wasn't even showing on my report but figured pay it before it started reporting.
  7. I highly doubt she put you on hold to call the county courthouse and verify the judgement. When I called EX the guy said "no it's not reporting your SS#" so I asked to dispute as similar name/person and he said "sure, anything else i can do for you?".. two weeks later it was gone. What method did you use for removing it from TU/EQ? Yea, I think she did call, said she spoke to Trish. Soon as we hung up I called and Trish picked up. And TU/EQ came off with its not mine.
  8. So not sure if I screwed up or what but seems I might have a some thing. The story so far. I have a judgment that's legit and so far I have got it off TU and EQ but its stuck on EX. I disputed back in July and they came back with verified and I tried 2 more attempts but both came back frivolous. So I started the MOV and got my letter from the county clerk stating they don't verify any thing. Well today I got reading about the social security method and figured I would give that a try. The lady I was speaking to was very blunt and said your social security is not tied to this but let me call them to verify this and put me on hold and did so. Then she proceeds to tell me that phone verification is the final thing they do and now its all on me to send them paper work to have any thing changed. So now on to the 2 parts that I am curious of. I paid this back in September so its a paid judgment, and the actual case number is wrong. The case number being wrong is by a odd number that just places value on it, not the actual docket number. The identification number from EX is MCTMC4CL***** and the real one is MCTMC5CL*****. But with that the EX lady called yesterday and verified the wrong number and didn't update that it is now a satisfied judgment. Are either of those 2 things enough to try and sue over? The way she put it to me was now that she called its all absolutely correct and I have to prove different.
  9. I have read that 10 times over the past few months and it seems fine long as its not a recorded judgment. What do you do if its recorded? From the link above: "If you have a RECORDED judgment, get a CERTIFIED copy from the Court. Examine it very carefully for ANY discrepancy between what is on your reports and what has been recorded. If you find a discrepancy,[dispute them one at a time]" Did you even read whychats instructions?? It doesnt matter though, the whole point of this is that the CRA's dont actually verify the info. They are just using public records(LexisNexis). Courthouses DO NOT verify judgements. The CRA will send you a generic response stating that they verified, you then send a MOV letter to them. They will respond with some BS stating that they have vendors who verify this info with the courts for them. The idea is that you will eventually get it deleted along the way if you persevere. I was able to get a valid judgement off my reports using these exact steps. Good luck. Yea have did it all up to the point of waiting for the BS answer. I might have got it but I am not sure, EX sent me a report that's blank basically, the little area that says what they investigated is blank so I am not sure if its just a report or if this is a answer. The last thing I sent them was the MOV, but I was at least expecting some thing that acknowledged I sent it to them. Also I sent a letter to my court clerk and she responded but did so on the letter I sent her. So no letter head of any sort, should I ask here for one with a letter head?

  11. There's a several page thread in the first page or two about removing a stubborn baddy from experian.. just call them up and ask to be transferred to a "merged file" or "identity theft" department and ask if the account has your ss# attached to it. Mine didn't, so i told them i wanted to dispute it as "similar name".. took 2 weeks and poof it's gone. This is after they "verified" it twice at all 3 bureaus.. i'm hoping the verification of procedures request gets the other two to delete it. Got a link to this? My judgment is only on EX.
  12. Yea read all that but it seems incomplete on his site some reason. I found what i think is the rest of it at another site though. Does this look right? Copy and pasted. Also my judgement dropped off of EQ and TU first dispute. EX has verified over and over though. Copy and paste looks really funny. Hope i can post the link. http://aaacreditguide.com/forums/public-records/6064-guide-disputing-removing-judgments.html
  13. Can a CRA use LexisNexis as a way to verify a judgment?
