    FICO/FEKO ??

Bump! I'm interested too. Just discharged a Chapter 13 and I'm starting the process of credit report clean up.
  3. When I was in college and I'd get my lump sum (student loan as well) at the beginning of the semester, what I did was count the number of months I had until my next check. I take that number and divide the amount of the check by that number. That's how much money I would have for that month from my student loan. i.e. Say I received a $5,000 check from student loans in September. I knew my next check would be coming in January. From Sept. to January that's 4 months. So I divide $5,000 by 4. The result is $1250. That means that of my student loans, I would have $1,250 available to me per month and that's all I can get from it. With part time jobs, there's more money per month. But that's how I did it when I was attending university living off of student loans.
  4. Maxine... I had been undervaluing myself when I'd go for jobs, junior level programmer, etc. etc. I did work on my own and was able to prove I'm worthy of a senior level position (as a computer programmer). So, from my last job I went from making $57.5k/yr to $80k/yr here. That's what... $23k/yr year pay increase? Close enough.
  5. Saria! You did not freak me out. I get fReAkEd out all on my own. All of this information is here for us to learn. I'm still worried, that's just my nature. I have something to start with, though.
  6. Awesome, Melanie! I can't log into the Sallie Mae website, I tried. But, I will certainly be giving them a call.
  7. Do you have supporting facts and/or data or atleast a news article? I'm not challenging you. I'm actually interested because I find this interesting. I also know a few other people who would be interested in reading about this. Just from you said, it seems that what they are saying is that since couples have nothing else to do they just go ahead and have sex for entertainment. Okay, so I it *is* rather fun entertainment ... Also, one could possibly extrapolate that TV separates couples rather than bring them together. If this were true, funding *birth control* would be a better form of birth control than TV, IMO. Just wait until they find out about porn. hehe..
  8. Okay, I just checked the NSLDS site. My status was in "repayment" at the time of my filing chapter 13, and now it's current status is "bankruptcy claim / active." Any one have any insight as to what that means? Melanie: thank you so much for sharing your experience. You've given me hope that I may not be in default. My boyfriend has been really great at reassuring me too.
  9. Bankruptcy is public information. Payment amounts to the trustee are in court documents and since court documents are public payment amounts can be seen and can be ordered up on Pacer. http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/ I use Pacer all the time and have never seen a payment record on my BK13 file. Where would that be? Cas I'm probably misunderstanding what you mean then. Are you talking about which creditors the trustee disperses payments to? If that's what you're talking about, then my bad and I misunderstood. That, I don't know. I do know that 13datacenter.com will show the dispersements, but that is for the individual to view, not the general public.
  10. Perhaps, maybe not. But I'm sure the child support would be huge and would probably still afford him a luxurious lifestyle. Sure, yay for father's rights, but I personally think he's just looking at this as a money making opportunity. Especially since his spousal support runs out. I think it's really unfair to make that assumption when you don't know the guy. Yea, he may be a punk, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a punk for a Dad. It's just possible he's really concerned as hell for his kids. I would be if they were under Brittney's care. I'd fight tooth and nail to get those kids in a safe environment. ITA on that. Sure, K-Fed looks weasley and all, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a sincere desire to be a father and give his kids the best. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, until some hard-core evidence suggested otherwise. Doesn't he have other kids with Shar Jackson, and hasn't she generally said good things about him regarding him being a dad to their (K-fed's and Shar's Kids) kids? Okay, so then why aren't we hearing stories about him fighting for custody of *those* children? Maybe because Brit's kids are a bigger money bag? Honestly, I don't know. I still suspect his motives since it *appears* that he hasn't been so concerned about his other children. And with that, I'm out.
  11. Timmus, if you can wait, I'd suggest you do so. Even though you were in a payback plan (chpt. 13), while you may be able to get a mortgage, you would receive better rates if you waited atleast 2 years out. I've read in various forums that what you're experiencing is common: mortgage lenders generally don't touch someone right out of bankruptcy, even if it was a 13. With the amount of money you're making, I'd suggest that you start to rebuild your credit, repair it where needed, and save the nice chunk of change you have left over. Do this for 2 years. By that time, you will most likely have a very nice down payment - probably giving you even better rates. 2 years is not a long time and you could gain so much more if you waited. Of course, YMMV.

  14. Thanks for the link! I didn't think about keeping final bills showing zero balances. That's good to know. And hey, I kept the original car sticker for my car mostly for sentimental reasons - it was my first new car EVAR and I just wanted it. Nice to know it's a good thing to keep.
