Hanging with my husband and 3 teenage sons, running my web consulting business, working out, reading, getting together with friends, field hockey, volleyball, swimming.
  1. First, I should find out what debt they're talking about right?
  2. Thanks so much for all the replies! Sounds like they are total scum. I knew it wasn't one of our LE friends but that's the only reasoned I answered a "private" call. Would have been better had I let them leave a msg so I would have it on record. It's not legal to do one party taping here without the other party knowiing they're being taped. I want to look at the link now. Cristol....Wow, so they're ruthless bastards! My Dh is a city police officer. He doesn't need this crap started by a scum debt collector. I hope they don't start calling his work. Hope you can nail their butts to the wall! That's what I plan to do. So at this point, should we pursue sueing?
  3. I found out the number is from a company named Continental. I'm not sure who they are and haven't received anything that I know of from them. We're both clueless as to what debt they're talking about.
  4. So this afternoon the phone rings and it says "Private Caller" which is usually one of 2 friends of ours who work in law enforcement and their cell numbers come up "Private Caller". The lady on the other line asked for my husband. I knew it wasn't either one of our friends because they're males. So she tells me she has a court order and that my husband has to call 877-660-9274 x617 for the legal dept and reference #xxxxxxxx. She says if he fails to call them he'll be served. I say and who are you? She says Cynthia and I say who are you with? She says I'm a legal processor and I say with who? She says I'm a legal processer just with the state and if he doesn't contact the legal dept he'll be served at work or at home, thank you bye. So is this a bunch of bs that she has a court order? I'm not aware of any outstanding debts, nothing is on his credit report. Is this probably another scare tactic? I'm off to see what company the number belongs to. How should we handle it? Thanks!
  5. APPROVING BANK Jonestown Bank BUREAU PULLED EX CREDIT SCORE 648 CUSTOMER STATE OF RESIDENCE - PA NEW/USED Used YEAR OF VEHICLE 2011 Chevy Silverado MILEAGE 12,000 RETAIL/LEASE - Retail AMOUNT OF LOAN - 31K ADVANCE PERCENTAGE - Not sure TERM CONTRACTED - 75 mos APR/LEASE RATE -10.95% MONTHLY PAYMENT - $583.00 MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: So happy we finally have a new vehicle! We had a Cap One Blank Check to use, but the rate was 14%. Dh has nothing negative on his CR, he just has a thin file. Last vehicle had perfect payment history for the past 2 yrs. Tried to get a better rate, but that was the best we could do for now. We'll try to refi in 6 mos. So excited about our purchase, the truck is awesome!!
  6. Thank you for your helpful replies! Very excited that our financing is in place before going into the dealer. It's a nice feeling knowing we don't have to settle for what the dealer can do for us as far as financing. I have heard that sometimes the dealer can give a better interest rate then what Cap One approved for.
  7. I applied tonight online and we were approved for a Cap One Blank Check. I've never used a blank check before and I was wondering if you still have to put a cash downpayment down? Also, does Cap One have to receive all the required documents before sending out the blank check and us taking it to the dealer? Thank you for any input you all can give me who've had experience with the blank checks from Cap One!
  8. We're in need of a new vehicle very soon and we've always walked into a dealership and they've taken care of finding us financing. The past 2 vehicles we purchased it was embarrassing because our credit was horrible and we had high interest rates. Does anyone know of specific places to apply online or over the phone prior to finding a vehicle? I was searching financing and found 2...BOA (got declined) & Roadloans (was approved). Is there anywhere else I should look before going into the dealership. Dh was approved at Roadloans for $16,644 for a mo pymt of $375 for 72 mos. Think that's a terrible rate, right? I just wonder how this works with the vehicle we still have a loan on and want to get rid of. We owe about $1000 more then it's worth. I've been working on our credit and think he should be able to get approved if we walk into a dealership, but am a little gun shy since we did have to have a co signer for one loan, so I'm trying to get the financing set up beforehand. Thanks!
  9. We just got my Dh approved for Orchard Gold Mastercard for building his credit. He has nothing on his reports except our current car loan so his credit score is low due to lack of history and this is a start.
  10. I heard that about the CLI. Oh yeah, definitely taking care of it. Just looking at it as a start and like you said better cards to follow! Thanks!
  11. Thanks, it is a great feeling!
  12. I just posted today that I got approved for a Victoria's Secret CC this morning and it's my first one in a long time, but my Dh didn't have a CC and needs one since he has nothing on his CR except our vehicle loan. Tonight we decided to try for a CC for Dh. He just got approved for the Orchard Bank Gold Mastercard! Very excited, he also hasn't had a CC in a LONG time. I know Orchard isn't looked upon highly, but it's a start to build him some credit. How long before he'll see a jump in his score?

  14. I thought of that Punisher, but right now $1000 on a secured card isn't something we can do right now. I'd like to get him an unsecured CC, but I'm not sure what ones to apply for with his lack of history.
  15. We had this situation several years ago. Dh couldn't get approved with his scores alone and at that time mine weren't helping him either so my sister co-signed. We still got a 13.9% interest rate, but at least we got the vehicle that we desperately needed. Once we ran her info and Dh got approved with my sister on the loan, the paperwork was sent overnight mail to her in NJ, as we were in a different state. There wasn't much to it. Turns out we worked on our credit, she started overcharging and now has horrible credit, but our vehicle loan is helping her credit now.
