    60 day late

I goofed up and forgot to pay a small amount on a credit card. It’s now a 60 day late. Amount total is $158.13. I can pay that any time. My Eqifax score went from 816 to 608. The debt is with Chase bank. I talked with them on the phone and offered that 100% and they said they could not remove the late pays. Any suggestions? Alex
  2. I just tried the discount code of fico25 and it did not work for me. I got my Equifax score at full price and I got a FICO score of 816!

  4. I forgot this link. This site is a treasure of cool apps you can add to your iMac: http://www.opensourcemac.org
  5. I agree with Nashty. I am a MCSE+I (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer-Internet) and I think Windows sucks. For the average user the extra money spent iMac is well worth. The time it takes to keep a Windows box running is considerable. First of all, for Windows you need to have some kind of backup scheme in place. Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 34275 $99.99 http://www.amazon.com/Iomega-Prestige-Desk...9148&sr=8-2 Includes a license for: EMC's Retrospect Express software. Then you need to make sure the Windows updates are enabled and are actually working. And you probably want to install a third-party firewall and antivirus program. Agnitum Outpost Firewall Free 2009 http://download.cnet.com/Agnitum-Outpost-F....html?tag=mncol Avast Free Antivirus 5.0.462 http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivi....html?tag=mncol Unfortunately the powers that be have convinced the antivirus companies that key loggers are not viruses. So you need a special utility to check for key loggers. KL detector http://dewasoft.com/privacy/kldetector.htm For Malware I recommend: SpywareBlaster 4.2 http://download.cnet.com/SpywareBlaster/30....html?tag=mncol Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.6.2 http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp....html?tag=mncol Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.45 http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti....html?tag=mncol for cleaning the hard drive I recommend Clean Disk Security 7.78 http://download.cnet.com/Clean-Disk-Securi...4-10052111.html You also need to purchase a registry cleaner. Registry utilities professional $29.95 http://www.avanquest.com/USA/pc-utilities/...nance-software/ Registry first aid platinum http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/reg1aid Then you need to do start, run, msconfig, startup and deselect all the garbage that you don’t need. Don’t forget to do your backups and system restore points. Also install Firefox and never ever use Internet Explorer. Also install Thunderbird for mail and stop using outlook express or outlook. http://www.mozilla.org/projects Use Reve Uninstaller for uninstalling programs rather than Windows. Revo Uninstaller 1.85 http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/....html?tag=mncol A good place to get a iMac at discount is Mac Mall: http://www.macmall.com A good place for iMac support is: http://forums.applenova.com These days the only major argument against the iMac besides price is that if you need a top-of-the-line components, you are stuck with Windows unless you want to go the hack in tosh route. But as Intel’s new Nehalem based CPUs become available in mobile form that deficiency will go away. I have a 24 inch iMac which I bought three years ago. When it gets too slow on the go with a 27 inch quad core. Right now you can get that with a 2.8 GHz quad core I7 CPU for $200 more. http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MB953L...mco=MTM3NDc2NjA
  6. “How are they getting from scrap being handled to it being a "dirty bomb scare" as the thread title suggests? Environmental screw-ups are not the same thing as a deliberate attempt to craft a dirty bomb...†“Five people suffering serious burns were hospitalized in West New Delhi this week from contact with radioactive material in a Delhi scrap market identified as Cobalt-60 which may be used for making a dirty bomb. Indian police cordoned off the 200 market stores and sealed nearby establishments up to a one-kilometer radius.†Officials sealed buildings for a 1 km radius ( 1.24 mile diameter circle) due to the scare. The reaction to the event was that of reacting to a dirty bomb. It was not until officials determined that the radioactive substance (Cobal-60) was released by accident and was not a dirty bomb attack. This occurred in an industrial park in New Delhi the capital of India. The same capital city that suffered a terrorist attack four and a half years ago killing 62 people and wounding 210. http://www.debka.com/article/8711 http://in.news.yahoo.com/20/20100412/1416/...60-come-fr.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/29_October_2005_Delhi_bombings
  7. Dirty bomb scare in India 8 Apr 2010. Some scrap metal containing Cobalt-60 was handled by some scrap metal workers. Five or six people were irradiated. One seriously. Cobalt-60 has a half life of 5.27 years. Bu contrast the Cassini probe used PU-238 as a power source for its 11 year mission and PU-238 has a half life of 88 years. Strontium-90 has a half file of 28.8 years and Caesium-137 has a half life of 30.07 years. http://in.news.yahoo.com/20/20100412/1416/...60-come-fr.html http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/p...how/5777163.cms http://www.debka.com/article/8711 http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report_polic...n-delhi_1370189 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobalt-60 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassini%E2%80...um_power_source “COBALT Cobalt-60 (60Co) is used in medical radiotherapy devices and commercial food irradiators. It will most likely be found after improper disposal, or after destruction of a hospital or commercial facility. It generates high-energy gamma rays and 0.31-MeV beta rays. It is easily detectable with a gamma detector. Cobalt could be used as a contaminant in an improvised nuclear device to make the fallout more radioactive. Cobalt will be rapidly absorbed from the lung, but less than 5% will be absorbed from the GI tract. Nothing is known about absorption from wounds. Primary toxicity will be from whole-body irradiation and acute radiation syndrome. TREATMENT: Gastric lavage, purgatives. Severe cases might be treated by chelation with penicillamine.†http://www.mindfully.org/Nucs/Radioactive-...s-Mil1dec99.htm “Cobalt-60 (60Co) is a radioactive isotope of cobalt, with a half life of 5.27 years. 60Co decays by negative beta decay to the stable isotope nickel-60 (60Ni). In the process of decay, 60Co emits one electron with an energy of up to 315 keV and then two gamma rays with energies of 1.17 and 1.33 MeV, respectively. One gram of 60Co contains approximately 50 curies (1.85 terabecquerels) of radioactivity. With a point source at a range of 1 m, this amount of 60Co would give a person a radiation dose of 0.5 sievert (50 rem) per hour. 60Co has seven main beneficial uses:†http://blog.4rev.net/2008-01/cobalt-60 TITANIUM AS AN ENCASEMENT FOR COBALT 60 http://www.ajronline.org/cgi/content/abstract/111/2/401 The Facts About Cobalt 60 Fact Sheet http://www.docstoc.com/docs/2315855/The-Fa...t-60-Fact-Sheet
  8. No lower interest rate. I believe I got the best rate. But they doubled my CL to $20,000!
  9. Thanks! Actually no. This is my third new account this year. This card has only a 20 day float and a crummy interest rate. If it were not for the free shipping and handling I would not have applied. Once I get the card I intend to ask for 25K line and a lower fixed interest rate. After that I am going to freeze my three credit files until I am ready to purchase some real-estate.
  10. LL Bean card from Barclays bank. Got on-line approval! Got 10 K at 11.74% variable. LL Bean has some nice wide sneaker boots and I need a new pair. With the card both shipping and return shipping are free. http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/se...=-1&feat=hp Trail Model Hikers, Low-Cut: http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/se...777-tn&np=Y With this card I broke $150,000 CL across 14 cards.
  11. Where are you located along the coast? The latest track from Storm2K.org has Ike headed towards Lafayette LA. It’s to earley to tell exactley where this storm is going. http://www.nwhhc.com/atl092008graphics.html http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.ph...29&t=103068 NHC: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at4.shtml...?large#contents
  12. Hurricane Ike seems to be heading for the gulf coast. Possibly someplace between Galveston TX and Houma LA on Saturday. It’s to soon to tell where this storm is going but it people along the coast should start thinking about making preparations. http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.ph...29&t=103076 http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewforum.ph...ec1ec106a92852a http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/index.php National Hurricane Center http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at4.shtml...?large#contents http://www.nhc.noaa.gov
  13. It looks like the storm will come ashore close in Timbalier bay. Then go over Houma, Morgan city, Patterson, Franklin, Jeanerette, Abbeville and just north of Lake Charles. That means Gustav will pass about 51 miles to the left of down town New Orleans. That puts the storm track approximately within 42.5 miles of Baton Rouge. Land fall at 10:20 AM Monday Sep 1. wind speed will be at landfall 110 knots (126.7 mph). http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.ph...29&t=102922
