  1. Thanks, Lander. What about too many newly opened accounts ? I'm thinking that 5 is a safe number, but thinking about pushing it to 10. Thoughts ?
  2. My main question is: How many revolving cards with which total limits can help me go from 700s back up to high 700s and beyond ? I say this because the main negative remark I am receiving is "too few TLs open, etc." -no collections --8 inqs --8 Closed Accounts --oldest 33 years (AU) --Average age (12 years)
  3. Thanks, Hegemony, good to see you are still leading the charge here So turdy move on my part....the age of the card will hurt my scores, and the low CL was just a waste.... I'm getting a wildly different reaction from different creditors, so hard to plot out a "linear strategic path". Strangest is whether I have a freeze with Equifax or not. I went through all of their verification procedures, unfroze it, and even had some pulls on it--like Discover. When I just called Chase for a recon, they said that my Eq was frozen ! and I explaned that other creditors have been pulling, so that makes no sense. And of course, upon calling Eq., their "systems" have been down for the last few hours so they can't tell me squat...
  4. Long story short... With the help of this forum I had some success building my personal and business credit about 10 years ago. Then the shit hit the fan credit wise. Post-crisis I got a job overseas and am just now looking to rebuild and relocate back to the US. While my scores are all around 700, I was getting a bunch of denials--some because of apparent blacklists from the big boys and some because no open lines were reporting.(I think the scores were coming from some pretty old closed aged accounts and no baddies whatsoever). I did get a Discover approved for $500. They said no CLI until April, which seems to be the consensus here-two billing cycles. I have a bunch of recon calls to make over the weekend-Cap 1, Chase, among others. Also in my mini-spree I stupidly applied for and was approved for a dogshit Milestone Gold MC for $300. Question is, should I just cancel it before it starts reporting or will that somehow be worse than just letting it ride ? Thanks in advance and good to be back here.....
  5. whatever it is, I wish you the best of luck, as you represent, to me, the best of what CB is all about
  6. "Yes, we do, you're lucky our savings accounts are open to you." Bob, Let me jump in here and say, congratulations ! Back in june, I was approved for 15k from Penfed and was then declined on every other app that I sent to them. They are deceptively conservative, and 50k in this environment might not exist. Either way, you are an inspiration. Bellrock Thanks, Bellrock! I'm just trying to have some fun. Bob I know, I like your MO. If you don't mind divulging, what is your next target, if any ? Phase 2 is the 2% Schwab Visa Signature. And clearly, we will all wait with baited breath to see how you fare........(not being facitious)

  9. Bob, Ok, so its been a couple of months and TU has been B*ing nicely. Nothing on Eq. So I checked my Eq report online, and under softs, it sure looked like choppage. Basically, it showed the CS and CCT pulls going back a few days, and then, poof, nothing else. Now that I have TU under control how can I aggresively attack the Eq inqs Bellrock Bellrock: Unfortunately, there may not be anything you can do. I myself am planning another *b* barrage later this month. BUT, I have CreditSecure, MyPrivacyMatters and National City ID Protection already. I will add CreditCheckTotal after I finish my app spree. Even then, I may, or may not be able to get the magic 120 soft pulls in within a 30 day window. New members of MPM and NCIDP are not allowed daily pulls. Just CCT and CS would not be enough to overcome choppage. Wish I had better news for you. Bob Bob As they say "it is what it is". I will now be looking in earnest for new(off the beaten track) daily pullers and obviously will report back any positive findings.

  11. How much are you talking about ? One card or multiple cards ?
  12. hegemony, after some serious bumpage of inqs from tu, i reluctantly applied for the ameriprise card a couple of weeks ago. to my major SHOCK, I got an instant approval for 26k. of course after that I got greedy and did a non-strategic, non-well thhought out 3 more apps, denied, denied, denied. my question to you is at what point can or should i try to get more juniper cards, and which are the best ones, emigrant, us air, etc ? I would wait 6 months. congrats!!! 26K is a sweet limit! thanks, 6 mo. sounds reasoable. after ameriprise, which is juniper/barclays best in breed, emigrant, us air or a different one ? emigrant and seamiles along with us air seem to offer higher limits than others of their co-brands. my emigrant is 36K where they only gave me 10K originally for ameriprise thanks for the info !

  15. br: In my experience, once I've gotten Eq and TU down to 0, a new app spree resets the counter, and it takes 60, 90-120 for TU and Equifax respectively. Bob Thats interesting. So its sort of like starting from scratch ? Would an unauthorized TU inq in the middle of the 60 also reset the counter and slow the process ? If by "the process" you mean eliminating ALL inquiries, then yes, it would slow the process because the recent inquiry would stay till you made 60 more pulls after it. But it won't slow down those that were already there. The point is that there is only a finite amount of space in the database and the system keeps a list of X most recent pulls. Once the database is full a new inquiry is put on the top of the list and the inquiry from the bottom of the list falls off. Therefore a new inquiry will not "reset the counter" for old inquiries, but each inquiry has its own counter, and you must do X more pulls before it gets to the bottom of the list and falls off. Disclaimer: These are just my ideas about b* and I might be wrong. That explains it nicely, and matches my experience so far. When you pull daily and start to see them fall off, it truly is a thing of beauty.

  17. Dang! so, as a follow-up, I've been using CS and CCT everyday since June 10th, and on TU my inqs have dropped from 17 to 12. I guess that i just keep chugging along and they will continue to fall off. Once I get them down to 0, and then pull TU is it another 30 day process to get rid of the new ones or do they get swept away with the old ones ?( because of lack of space on TUs database or whatever ?) Thanks
  18. One of the most legendary, and contoversial members, SCM, has not been heard from in a while. He was apparently going through a divorce several months ago and many jumped in to declare that they saw a BK coming for him because of too much credit, etc. While I never communicated with him directly, he was definitely an inspiration to me as well as many others. Its kinda weird, but it seems like with SCM's departure the "business credit" section of this site pretty much flattened out. Maybe that's because biz credit in general has contracted tremendously over the last year. It seems as though most of the posts now are from individuals who are trying to get credit based on their business because their personal credit is poor. There once was a time that a person could piece together several biz cc's, locs in order to fund business expansion, acquisitions, etc. Are those days over, at least for the foreseeable future ?
  19. good point. As the (AU) beneficiary of a family member with some exceptional, old TLs, from the beginning of '07 thru about June of '08 I was able to accumulate signifigant TLs as my FICO of 790s was considered "the bomb". In the last year, however, I get a lot of call backs from underwiters questioning everything from the toothpaste I use to my preference for boxers or briefs. Of course this has driven me back to these boards (again) to more strategically apply for credit, when needed. I am in the camp of those who believe that FICO scoring's preeminence has , and will continue, to dwindle over the next several years. Of course, it will be used as a benchmark, but in the post-meltdown environment lenders will be much more concerned with the applicants' overall financial picture than the FICO alone.
  20. How has it helped with disputing negs?
  21. I understand. But here's the thing, her TU is in the 650's(FICO) and climbing and she was looking into doing some apps pretty soon. Does the FA have to be removed before she actually applies for new credit ?
  22. A few days ago I was helping DW in cleaning up some issues and went for the (lazy?) option of disputing a few items online with EQ. Sometimes the "low-lying fruit" can be removed this way. Well as it was 2am in the morning, I don't remember the exact reasons for each item disputed. Well, I just received a letter from EQ that a fraud alert has been placed on her account, blah, blah, blah. How hard is it to get this FA removed ? How long does it take ? Is there any benefit in NOT removing it ?
  23. Bob, Are there any other daily pullers for the new user that don't wreak havoc by causing c* ? Should I give NCIDP and MPM a shot ?
  24. What is the quickest way to achieve b*, first on Trans, and then on Eq.? While I just recently started using CS and CCT , I wanted to see if there were other services for the new user to go with to expedite the process. The consensus is that NCIDP and MPM are monthly pullers for new users, CK results in re-insertions, and anything Eq. based could lead to c*. Are there any other services that allow daily pulls and don't lead to c* or re-insertions ? I've heard mention of Fifth Third and Key Bank as possibilities but no confirmation yet. Any input would be appreciated.
  25. I recently went on the Eq site and pulled report directly from them. Does that put me at risk for c* if I'm doing dailies on CCT and CS ? Also, what is meant by "backdoor" pulling ?
