  1. Realize this is old but seems to have been brought up again. They do use Chex. Recently went to the branch in Oakland, CA. Was declined nearly instantly for Chex. Manager stated they had been heavily burned in the last few years.
  2. Hello, I have a question that I cannot seem to find an answer for. I lost my job about a year ago. I have tried to keep current on everything but then my unemployment ran out. I defaulted on $12k I owe Penfed (Its the thrifty line of credit). My concern is over the collection tactics. I have searched and searched but I cannot really find who Penfed uses as a collection agency, if they are sue happy etc. I wanted to find out if anyone has had any experience with a Penfed collection. For now its with their internal collection department (DCC, Delinquency Control). They do not seem open to working with me as they modified back when I lost my job and now with no real resources they are not willing to do much. My main concern is being sued at this point and ending up getting a judgement and losing what little I have left to keep us a float. I cannot really afford to respond to a lawsuit either. I know no one can answer with 100% certainty anything I've asked but I was hoping to see if anyone had any past experiences with Penfed outside of "I was approved!"
  3. I figured that is the route I would have to go however does anyone have any experience in making Equifax fold? My fear is that I can make LVNV go away but a few months down the road Amex will sell it to someone else and I'll be back at square one again. It seems crazy for Equifax to pick and choose what date to follow when they know it is an Amex account with the same account number listed in the Police Report.
  4. Hey Guys I have a question I am hoping you guys can answer for me. I finally got the information I needed to start blocking the fraud information from my Credit Report (My ID was stolen when I was a minor (14 years old). Long story short the theft changed my DoB which caused a file to be created. I submitted my Police Report and a Blocking request. I was really happy as Experian my worst report (Had 31 Baddies) instantly folded and removed everything! Transunion is still debating but my issue is with Equifax. They state to me in this matter they would go by the Date an Account was open to determine if it should be blocked. I have three accounts they refuse to delete. All three are from LVNV Funding. They are for 3 American Express accounts back in 05. Now LVNV picked it up in June of 09. Equifax states since it was open in 09 it belongs to me (even though the date of first default is in 05???). They are refusing to do anything. They also say they have 60 days to investigate and not the 4 days to block information the FTC states. Do you guys have any idea how to fix this situation? They are saying I should create a new police report and include LVNV. But does that mean everytime a new Collections picks the account open I have to do that all over again? It makes no since. If Experian just wipes the info (and Transunion is basically doing the same) why does Equifax want to play hard ball. Their own Rep even said the info should be deleted but that rules are rules. HELP!
  5. It still amazes me how stupid some Managers at other Walmart stores can be. I know at the store I work at you would have had your answer the first time you called . There are two ways to find out where your returned check went. You can call the store it happened at and ask to speak to the "Cash Office". For most stores they are in between 5am and 1pm. If they are unable to answer your question (which is unlikely, they are the ones who submit the check to collections) you should call corp. The number is 1-800-Walmart. Hopefully you can get the information you need.
  6. May have already been mentioned but Walmart does not use Chex. There have been rumors that they use EWS but I have yet to have an issue with them. I am in EWS but they have never declined my order. Though it is worth noting I am an Associate.

  9. Did it give you the option to make an account right away via online? That's what it did with me..."make an account" or "wait and make an account"...I did "make an account" when I was done, it told me I was approved and what my CL was It did not give me that option, but it did ask me for the $19 processing fee. When I just logged in to check my status it says: We are unable to finalize your credit card application. You will be hearing from us within the next 10-14 days. Thank you! You need to call them. I got this message when I applied for the HSBC Cash Rewards Card. They needed to verify my Identity. Once I did that it was an approval. So give them a call. If you did pay that processing fee it is usually a for sure approval.
  10. The application fee (Processing Fee) is fairly standard for HSBC. It usually means an Approval. What card did you apply for? Was it Orchard (HSBC) or was it real HSBC (Like the Cash Rewards Mastercard)? When I applied for the HSBC Cash Rewards Mastercard they asked me for the $49.00 application fee up front and it was an approval.

  12. So I opened a Care Credit card on September 15, 2008. On October 08, 2008 I get a letter, stating this: "Dear ***, Based on our most recent review of your credit information, your Care Credit/GEMB account has been closed. GE Money Bank periodically reviews accounts based on its existing credit policies and standards and information provided by credit reporting agencies as permitted by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This account closure will appear as, Credit Line Closed - Closed by Credit Grantor, on your Credit Report." Now I went ahead and finally got the time to call them today. They transferred me all over and finally got me to "Risk Management" for GEMB. They said, that my account was closed because GEMB has adopted a new policy regarding Credit Report inquires. (I have 5 right now on my Equifax Report, one of them is GEMB). They decided that was "excessive". They also said I was not the only person to have their account closed. That they are reviewing all New AND Current accounts with GEMB (That's every card they back, From Wal-Mart to Care Credit) and are closing any account that does not meet their new Inquiry Standards. I guess a lot of us are going to be saying good bye to our GEMB cards. Oh I forgot to add. The Risk Manager was able to put in a request to change that reporting line from "Closed by Credit Grantor" to "Closed at Consumer Request"
  13. How long have you had your CJ account, and do you use it regularly? I've had my CJ account since around Dec. Used it for the first time in Jan. Paid that off then bought some mothers day gifts with them...On the last $68's of that when they emailed me and told me they had bumped my limit and removed my down payment.
