  1. My DH is in Navy 16 years and has their trifecta. I've seen here and heard from other military on base that they will approve spouse for separate accounts based on HHI. We were just transfered here to Hawaii 2 months ago so I don't have a job yet. So yesterday I went into the branch and reopened my old savings account. Came home and applied for the nRewards Visa online. Considering everything I've heard, I didn't even think to look if they ask for personal or HHI. I just assumed HHI and applied using that (yes I read the ap but my brain just scanned over it due to my assumptions). Anyway, today I was approved for 11k at 13.9 apr. I'm thrilled to have received this, but am wondering if I should go down to the branch to apply for the MC instead of applying online (considering that my personal income is 0). Or should I just let it lie and wait til I'm employed to apply for the 2nd? On another note, does Navy send bt offers? If not, can you call and get a good bt rate?
  2. Thanks. I'm glad it's not just me. I'm going to stay out until it's fixed.
  3. They're using an SSL certificate that expired on 5/22, I'm sure they'll fix that soon. It's not really a "huge" issue, the communications are still secure. Sorry but saying the communications are still secure by logging in through http and not https is completely and utterly false. I would never ever log into any kind of banking or credit card place not using https. So am I the only one getting this error? Safe or not? Wasn't getting this error before the outage.

  6. Thanks! I think I'll just let it sit at $0 for awhile and see what happens.
  7. I just paid off my first BT on my Citi DPR. I was thinking of doing another BT but website told me in that I don't have any offers available. Will they send me another BT offer? When? Anyone have any experience with back to back BT's with Citi?
  8. I got a letter yesterday. I was jacked from 15.99 to 27.99. To make it even worse, they CLD me from $4k to $2.3k, just $50 over my balance. My credit isn't bad, no bk on Tu, no baddies. Overall util is 30%. Never paid late, always over the minimum. I honestly can't believe these jerks. It will get paid off and sockdrawered forever.
  9. I didn't know this was an advance based on 2008 taxes. This is great for me. DH was deployed to Iraq for 8 months of 2007, so we get less because of all of his non-taxable income. Our deposit should be $1200 in two weeks (we have two kids) , but we should get the remaining $600 as a credit on our taxes in 2008. I'd like to have it all now, but I can't complain. It'll come in handy next February as well. Thanks for the info.
  10. Ok, duh! I'm an salamander! Thanks for wakin' up my brain. I was sure hoping Citi was lovin' me though.
  11. Amber, they don't base your CLI on your credit report, they base it on your payment history also known as soft inquiry. I will be calling the magic number on Friday to be asking for a $1,500 CLI. I'm simply going to tell them that I'm going to make a big balance transfer. I realize they base it on a soft inquiry, but wouldn't what they saw a few months ago look better than whatever they saw on the last pull due to recent higher utilization? Good luck on the CLI request. Cap1 really seems to be trying to turn a corner and make you want to pull out their cards. On another note, has anyone with very high utilization on their card been successful with this number at getting an increase? DH's card has like 80% utilization. A CLI would really help with this one, but I'm a bit nervous about having him call on it because of the util.
  12. I have two Citi cards (DPR & Plat Sel). Just checked my accts. and they lowered the interest rates on both cards. DPR was at 15.24 and is now 13.99. Plat Select was at 16.24 and is now 14.99. One card is only 8 mos old or so, the other less than 6 mos old. I didn't ask for the decrease either. Does Citi just like me or is this common after having cards with them for awhile?
  13. Well, I guess I shouldn't have complained before I called myself. I just called and they gave me a $4000 increase. They couldn't do anything for me 3 mos ago, but now apparently I'm worthy of an extra 4k. Still it makes no sense cause my scores are lower than 3-6 mos ago due to utilization. I guess they like you better with lower scores. Thanks again OP.
  14. I applied for the Amazon store card tonight and was instantly approved for $400. EQ score approx 660. My lowest limit ever with GEMB, but at least they have a CLI button. Should be a fairly nice account in a couple years. And I love Amazon ever so much. Thanks OP!
  15. Heh, just had my mom call too. She has 2 cap 1 cards. 1 has a CL of $10k, and her oldest (like 8 years old) has a CL of $500. So she called on the 2nd one and they told her to jump off a bridge. Her credit scores are all over 750. These people make absolutely no sense to me.
