  1. The most recent letter had the 30 day statement to verify/dispute debt, etc. I sent out the cease/desist letter with certified mail return receipt. Thanks again for all the advice.
  2. Thank you everyone so much. I appreciate the help. I didn't get to the post office today which actually turned out to be good. USPS informed delivery shows another letter to arrive shortly. This will be interesting. I'll post it when I get it. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  3. I did not write nor would I write that in the actual letter. Since I've seen a lot of these collectors referred to as scumbags on this site, that is what i chose for this example Sorry to have "offended" you.
  4. That's definitely worse....... I'm still thankful for the opportunity to be back in school though. It's been quite the adjustment. I just want that degree.
  5. Thanks, that is exactly what I needed. tbh, I tend to get carried away lately. I'm doing all this boring, long, writing for college classes about stuff I could care less about and it's crossing over into stuff like this. Thanks again to you and everyone else. I appreciate the time and advice.
  6. I wrote in my 1st post that i wanted to help with a letter to respond to them. I found that letter that i had written back in 2003 and copied and pasted it on this site. I Probably got it off this site back then but I don't remember. I asked if it was ok and what should I change/add/delete. I didn't ask for a bunch of insulting comments. What the heck is a Richard anyway?
  7. Don't they have to print somewhere in the letter that you have 30 days to dispute the debt? I'm certainly no expert so I could be wrong.
  8. How this letter? Is there anything I should add/change/delete? Hello Scumbag collectorname, This letter is in response to your letter dated 9/25/2019 (copy enclosed), concerning the collection of the above referenced account. I do not believe I owe this alleged debt therefore I dispute this debt. I am well aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) and my state laws so I hope to save both of us a great deal of time by letting you know that not only do I dispute the validity of this debt, I have also checked with my State Attorney General and verified that the Statute of Limitations for enforcing this type of debt through the courts has expired. Therefore, should you decide to pursue this matter in court, I intend to inform the court of my dispute of this debt and that the “statute of limitations” has expired. This letter is your formal notification that I consider this matter closed and demand that you, or anyone affiliated with your company, stop contacting me regarding this or any other matter except to advise me that your debt collection efforts are being terminated or that your or the creditor are taking specific actions allowed by the FDCPA or my state laws. Be advise that I consider any contact not in accordance the FDCPA a serious violation of the law and will immediately report any violations to my State Attorney General, to the Federal Trade Commission and, if necessary take whatever legal action is necessary to protect myself. Be advised that I tape record all phone calls and violations of the FDCPA can result in your or your company being personally fined up to $1000 per incident.
  9. Thanks for the reply. I will go ahead and write that letter. I think some of it is in violation and it would be nice to make a quick buck off these people but I doubt that's going to happen. Here is the back of the letter https://www.flickr.com/photos/31276280@N07/48833950083/in/dateposted-public/ Anyone know why it won't let me put the link in when I click on "Insert image from URL). I'm allowed to paste it but when I click insert into post the whole field turns red and it doesn't get inserted.
  10. Hi Everyone, It's been a while since I've posted although I sometimes read from an app on my phone. This site has been invaluable to helping me clean up my credit and stay that way. I just opened yesterday a collection letter from A.R.A. They had called me last week and when I asked who they were as soon as they identified themselves, I lost cell service and the call was dropped. https://www.flickr.com/photos/31276280@N07/48830231176/in/dateposted-public/ I received this letter in the mail and I'm a bit freaked out they they gave me hardly any time to respond. I need some help with a letter to respond to them. I've done this before but it's been years. I also just moved and a lot of my older stuff (hard drives, with letters on them) are packed away. Can someone help me? Thanks!
  11. Interesting because I just received a similar letter for alleged debt with them from many years ago. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  12. Congratulations! Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
  13. I also got a couple of these within a couple of years and was able to file insolvency. It was quite easy.
