  1. Well... the first thing I did was read as much as I could on this board. There is almost too much information on this board and not all of it will apply to your specific case. Ingest what you can, process what you need, and then just chip away. My main piece of advise is persistence & patience. You may have to talk to 100 people at a particular company to get your point across and be heard... here are a few examples... 1. I had 3 Verizon baddies on each of my reports that would not budge. I called millions of times, sent dozens of letters, even received some email responses from some higher ups within Verizon, but they all said the same thing "no we can't remove". I finally got the email address of the president or vice president of Verizon (can't remember) and he of course got everything removed for me. Thanks to this board, I got the email address... 2. I had an old & closed Bloomie's, card in good standing. I may have called 10-15 times to get it re-opened, everyone I spoke with said no it can't be done, the account is too old to be re-opened. Well magically, the 16th person I called was able to open it without a problem... 3. Same goes for disputing, you may have to dispute an item 15 times before it gets removed or 15 different ways... hand written letter, typed letter, fax, email, electronic, phone call... you have to be persistent. 4. I had a Sprint charge off that went to collections... the account was so old that Sprint didn't even have the account number any longer. I called Sprint dozens of times wanting to pay it in full because it just wouldn't budge from my reports, they kept saying no, you have to pay the collection agency that it was sold to. For carious reasons, I didn't want to pay the collection agency. I finally got all the account info. from the collection agency, then through doing a search on this board I was able to get some special number for a Sprint Finance Department... they gladly took my payment. I then called the collection agency a few weeks later, played dumb and asked them why are they trying to collect a debt that was paid directly to Sprint? Sure enough, the collection was removed for all 3 of my reports... Be persistent & patient, be creative, DEFINITELY be nice to the person on the other end of the phone, being nice will get you a LONG way... My breakthrough came 1 day when I decided to create a spreadsheet so I can better keep up with my cards... I just called all my creditors to get basic account info such as APR, limit, balance... I was nice to all of them, I found that most account rep's know when and how much they can give you as far as a credit line increase... I just played dumb and asked all of them "when exactly is my credit limit increased and is it done automatically or do I have to request it"? Just by their responses with all of them to that question, I was able to basically double my credit lines with most of my cards... sometimes they tell you what they can give you and anything more will require a pull...
  2. Started off almost a year ago on this board. Scores averaged 600, now they average close to 700. Still a couple stubborn baddies that need to go... I had zero cards when I started here (they were all charged off!) Combination of disputing, paying old debts, etc. I have significantly cleaned up my reports. Started off with a 200.00 limit on a Target store card (now a 1,000.00 credit card) then Re-habbed a Macy's (started at 850, now at 3,000, got the Hooter's next (started at 500 now 2000), Nordstrom's took a chance on me and gave me a 500.00 limit (now my favorite store) they were the first ones to give me a real credit line ---> 7500.00... , Bloomie's allowed me to re-open a 5 year old closed account that I closed in good standing (would have never thought to do it without this board started at 500, now around 3500) same goes for an old Lord & Taylor account I had. Combined a bunch of crappy limit cards with Juniper thanks to you guys. State Farm took a chance after speaking with an underwriter and gave me 2,000.00 (never knew what an underwriter was before this board). Semi-secured card with B of A - no deposit required (my worst card, 500.00 limt, will not budge - had it for over a year...) Luckily I got it with USAA just before they changed their policy in regards to non-military and thankfully I did... Just keep on pushing guys, there is no secret, it all on this website plain as day... If you put in the time, the results will definitely come... Thank you all again. My APR sucks, but it's just nice knowing you have 25k on a card. Hopefully some of my other cards will follow suit with big increases... damn this made my day!
  3. I'm waiting as we speak for a letter from B of A in regards to my card becoming unsecured... you guys are not making me feel warm and fuzzy inside, of course the merger and business practices would change as soon as I am ready to graduate I'll keep you guys posted in the next few days as to what I can do/get out of these CSR's. The funny thing is, my card was secured, but I wasn't required to pay the 99.00??? I guess that means my credit is "blah"...
  4. So did you spend a lot at Nordies to do the right thing? I have had the store card about 8 months but I have only spent about $100 bucks one time. I don't think I am in line for a CLI or for the VISA. Actually, I spent a bunch over the xmas season, but most of it was returned over time... I may have purchased 200.00 worth of stuff in a year. My scores are in the 690's. And yes, I started off with a 500.00 limit, they increased it to 1500.00 during the xmas season and just increased it to 2500.00 2 days ago and during the same phone call, gave me the visa with 7500.00
  5. That's great! Nordstrom's is cool! They sure are... I just logged in online today and my limit is already showing up at 7500.00 Can't wait to get the card. I was a fan of Nordstroms but now I love them. They started me out with a 500.00 store card and I remember the rep saying just do the right thing and in roughly 9 months Nordstroms will reward you... they sure did...
  6. Basically, I just wanted to update my address/telephone number with a bunch of my creditors, make some phone payments, and inquire about monthly automatic deductions... I figured, since I was on the phone, I would see what else I could get done... Macy's - went from 1500 to 2300 Bank of America Visa - 500 limit but rep told me I was eligible for graduation, they said I would get a letter in 10 days in regards to status... hopefully I get a new card and bigger limit and/or able to convert to something nice... ***has anyone been able to call and get a status of graduation before 10 days??? *** Nordstrom - went from 1500 to 2500 (rep asked me how much I wanted, so I only asked for 1000), but then I said what the heck and asked about the Visa since it was no pull... approved for 7500.00 Visa with 15% interest rate! My best limit and rate to date! <--- That made my friggin day! I can sock drawer some other B.S. cards now... She actually apologized for the limit being higher than the 2500.00 I asked for on my regular store card...
  7. I had this exact situation with Sprint PCS for roughly 400.00 I called Sprint numerous times wanting to pay them, they claimed they didn't have any information and that I had to get it from the agency they sold the debt to. I just kept calling and calling Sprint and finally I got all the account info. and correct balance. I then researched a number for the head finance department and played dumb as if I didn't know the debt was sold. They gladly accepted payment for the amount in question. I then notified the collection agency that the debt was sold to - this debt was paid to Sprint directly. They were not too pleased. After that, I disputed with all 3 bureau's and it fell off on all 3. If you're going to pay, try your hardest to pay the original debtor. Collection agencies don't give a s_ _ t after they receive your money...
  8. They're big on already having their products... I had homeowners with them and it DEFINITELY helped, as a matter of fact, I don't think I would have got the card without it... they are actually reasonable when you speak to the underwriter - if you have a good argument as to why you should get the card, you probably will get it. Good luck.
  9. I'm basically trying to see what I have to do and when. They started me off with a 5k limit. I have had the card roughly 3 months. I attempted CLI increase once last month, but was denied. For those who started with similar limits and got bumped up nicely - what are your scores, how long did you wait before requesting CLI, what was your starting CL, what is your CL now... any help is appreciated. Thank you.
  10. Started w/ a 1000.00 limit. After 6 months, I was bumped to 1200.00 and 3 months after that, I was bumped to 1600.00 I spoke with one of their reps 2 days ago and they review automatically every 3 months and give increases if you are on time with payments. I used the card heavily the first 6 months after I got it, maxed it out a few times, then paid it all off... after the 6 month mark, I never use it because I have better cards now.
  11. Instead of applying for new credit, what I would do is let that USAA account age just enough to get a nice CLI. Then, once you've received a decent CLI from USAA, then I think you'll be in better position to apply for cards -- and get better limits in the process. Just my opinion, of course. Thanks for the good advice... I just requested a CLI from USAA (no pull), got the 7 day message. I only had the account for a couple months, then I went over to B of A because I have a starter card with them. Applied for their business card and got denied... you're right... I'll just let them age...
  12. I am now at 698. My largest limit is 5K with USAA, followed by 2k with State Farm, and then 1900 with US Airways... I need to pull the trigger and apply for something.. I want, need, deserve a 10-15k card... any help would be appreciated! Off to check the credit pulls database... I had paid an old Sprint account from West Asset Management, then disputed it off. This happened last week... I just got this +41 alert a second ago...
  13. Equifax is 650 - 1 collection, 2 paid collections, 1 judgement, tons of history and good tradelines. Approved for 2000.00, prime +7.99 is the APR. Thanks guys, card arrives in 7-10 days. They transferred me over to a special department, asked me various security questions, it seems like if you do have insurance with them, it weighs heavily. On my app, I put i did have with them, even though it is under my parents name, he actively did a search under my name and didn't find anything, I told them to put in my parents name and found the account. It did seem as if the insurance definitely helped by his tone...
