    !@#!#$@#$ AMEX

As irritating as the account being canceled is, is how I found out about it. I had just logged on last week to the AMEX website and everything looked in order. I just checked the account online and I had to search to find where it said the account had been canceled. In teeny letters. It says nothing about it on the first page, I had to click around to find it "This account is currently cancelled."

    !@#!#$@#$ AMEX

I have zero balance on any cards, but I don't have much of a credit limit with any card either. We were anticipating getting our first home this year so I really dont want to get dinked for a new card's lack of age or the inquiry. Very frustrating ... it can always be worse though.
  3. AMEX canceled my card 3 days ago and I found out when I went to use it while after a meal and they refused to reinstate. Card opened in 2007, never late, carried a balance and just paid in full last month. My report is cleaner now that it was in 2007 when I opened the account. I was carrying that card and my ID with the intention of giving it a little activity so it wouldn't close for that. Thankfully I had my checkbook in the car and the manager was nice enough to make an exception but I was so embarrassed.
  4. phew...tough crowd! I am going to let 'er rip then
  5. Anything I should add/change before sending? This is in response to the last letter they sent me - you can read the whole thing here: http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?s...p;#entry3018177 To Whom It May Concern: I have received your last correspondence which does not fulfill my request for validation. I have repeatedly asked for validation of the derogatory information that AFNI has placed on my credit reports. AFNI has failed to provide the following information requested in my previous disputes and requests for validation: 1.Proof that AFNI owns or was assigned this alleged debt 2.Full payment history from Verizon that shows clearly the what the fees assessed are for 3.The original agreement between Verizon and myself showing that I knowingly entered into an obligation to pay them for services and/or product. Unless the derogatory entry is immediately removed from all three credit reports I will file a lawsuit as the above places AFNI in violation of the FDCPA, section 809(. I look forward to the prompt resolution of this matter.

  7. Part 1: http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?s...=302525&hl= Part 2: http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?s...=308985&hl= Part 3: http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?s...=310506&hl= So since my last post, I have received two responses from AFNI: 1. dated Feb 13 (received on March 14th) This letter confirms the original creditor and balance of your account. Thank you. Then the next three pages look similar to a phone bill with an account balance, an account number a phone number and a note that says "revised final bill" on it. Now the address and number were a previous address, but the date is 7 months after I moved. Also, it doesnt show what the bill was for, it just says "previous charges" and "total due". I spoke with Verizon when I first learned of this and they have no record of an account for me. I live in Florida now, and this alleged debt is for a MD address. I think the SOL is 5 years here but 4 years there, so now I am stuck as to what to do. I don't feel that what they sent me shows that I entered into a binding contract to pay Verizon because it doesn't ever say what it was for or where I signed or the terms of service, but I am not sure how to say that in a letter to AFNI. 2. received in the past week, IDENTICAL to the letter I received previous to this one stating they needed more information from me. EH? Which is it? Should I mention this second letter in writing back to the first letter? Hi There AFNI, You silly goose, not only did you NOT prove that I actually owe you any money from a delinquent debt with Verizon but you also sent me another letter saying you aren't sure I am who I say I am. Which would you like me to do? How about I just send you a signed blank check with my DL and you figure it out and get back to me - NOT! By the way, I have sent copies of this and all previous letters to the IL AG, the MD AG, the FL AG, the BBB and YOUR MOTHER who, by the way, says she is very disappointed in you. How dumb do I look, Perfectly Patient Any suggestions? I haven't sent anything to the CRAs in a while on this one, I know I should. Perhaps this time I could and copy all of this crap for them?
  8. Ok, this is what I am sending back - any edits before I send it? I have received your letter requesting additional information to substantiate my claim to validation of the erroneous and derogatory entry placed by AFNI onto my credit reports. In response to your request for the specific information I dispute; I am disputing the entire entry on my credit reports placed there by AFNI. In response to your request for an explanation of the basis of my dispute; I have no knowledge of any account that I knowingly entered into with Verizon, AFNI or of any of the account numbers listed above. I have no knowledge of any debt for $XXX.XX to anyone that I am legally obligated to pay. I was not notified of any debt to Verizon previous to it being added to my credit report. In response to your request for supporting documentation to substantiate your claim; As I am refuting your claim that I owe you, it is your responsibility to provide the documentation that proves that this debt is mine. In your response for valid phone number; I am not available by phone, all correspondence must occur though mail. As I stated in my previous letter - if you cannot validate this debt, it is your responsibility to remove this derogatory account from my credit reports immediately. I await your results and look forward to receiving them within 30 days.
  9. I did, and they referenced it in their letter back to me. How should I approach this next letter? I am so mad I could spit.
  10. I got a response today to my validation letter to AFNI. I messed up and didn't do the 1-2, I verified with the CRAs online and one came off, two others stayed. Then I sent this letter to AFNI CMRR: In reviewing my credit reports with all three major credit reporting agencies, it came to my attention that AFNI has placed a derogatory and erroneous entry on my reports claiming I owe $100. I have no account with you, nor have I have ever. I am hereby disputing and requesting a validation of this debt showing that there is some contractual obligation which is binding on me to pay this debt. This is not a request for verification that you have my information. This is for validation showing that I knowingly entered into and defaulted on an obligation to pay and that you now legally own this debt. This is not a refusal to pay, but an attempt to correct records. As you well know, if you cannot validate this debt, it is your responsibility to remove this derogatory account from my credit reports immediately. I await your results and look forward to receiving them within 30 days. This was their response in a nutshell: We have received your dispute but we are unable to confirm at this time. You have provided insufficient information to substantiate your claim. We will complete our investigation within 30days of receipt of the following information: The specific information you dispute An explaation of the basis of your dispute All supporting documentation to dubstantiate your claim. Examples may include blah blah A valid phone number. This is an attempt to collect a debt, yada yada this is from a debt collector. I *think* at this point I send copies of everything to the AG, the BBB and another request for validation with a note that I have alerted the AG and the BBB - right? Should I also send a verification CMRR to the two CRAs that it didn't come off of now? TIA!

    AFNI Followup

Ooops, missed your other question, I first was alerted to the account in early October, did the verification with the CRAs then. Waited and was able to send out my validation request to AFNI on Dec. 10th. I got the green card back shortly after (don't have it right in front of me).

    AFNI Followup

Nope, all three have come back, only one was deleted - the other two came back as "verified"...
  13. I never received any notice from AFNI for a verizion debt that isn't mine, but they showed up on all 3 reports. I requested a verification with the 3 CRA's - 1 of 3 came off. I then sent a validation letter to AFNI requesting that they prove those debts were mine as I was never aware of them. I got the green card back. We are close to the 30 days and nothing yet... do I request verification with the CRAs again now? or wait until 30+5 is up and if no word back from AFNI I send a request for validation to them again as well as to the AG and BBB? I haven't had to take it this far yet with anything else and I would appreciate a little confidence! TIA! ~Tabatha

    AFNI Verizon

It wouldn't both me quite as much if I knew what they were trying to collect on. I KNOW that I have not had a Verizon account for at least 5 years. That's about as far back as I can recall phone service. GRRR!
