  1. Last week I was turned down for a refinance because I only have 2 active credit accounts (one loan and one credit card), both of which are only 6 months old. The loan officer informed me that after another 6 months of positive reporting from these accounts, I should be approved for my mortgage refinance without any problems, however he also strongly advised me not to open any new accounts. So, if I were to be added as an authorized user to a family member's credit card, will this new trade line reflect as if I opened a "new account", or will it reflect the age of the account itself???
  2. One benefit on Credit Karma is that you also get to see your credit report. So even if you don't care about the VantageScore, you can still view information you wouldn't get from just getting a FICO from your credit card company. I have to say I'm also a fan of their credit simulator. If I had access to a credit simulator based on FICO, I would use that, but I still like the CK simulator. Credit Check Total has a FICO simulator powered by Experian. I'm curious how accurate that aspect of the membership is. Does anyone know? I am trying to add a couple of credit cards to incr
  3. You can get your Experian VantageScore from credit.com Maybe I'll check that out just for the comparison. Thanks.
  4. I was told not to be too concerned with Credit Karma scores because they use Vantagescore and not FICO. Sooo...I just opened up an account with Credit Check Total and was definitely pleasantly surprised. I have a lot of work to do, but a game plan has been established thanks to Psycho Docs archives and other resources on this site.....but I'm at least better off than I thought. Credit Karma scores as of today... Equifax 587 (with my accurate 1% credit utilization) FYI.....it jumped 21 points today because of a large credit card payment. Transunion 554 (with my inaccurate 6
  5. I've been considering the idea of stipulating that the check is only valid if the account remains unreported to the credit bureaus. Is this a bad idea? Does anyone know if there is a standard protocol among CAs in regard to when they begin reporting to the collection agencies? In other words do CAs hold new accounts for X number of months while attempting to collect the debt prior to reporting anything?
  6. Helpful. Thanks. Yes, I'm in PA. I will give them a call and see how this will all unfold and post the results. Man, I love getting conflicting information from different customer service reps. I called the OC (PA Dept of Revenue) yesterday, and was informed by a representative that if I remit payment directly to the OC, they will request removal of my account from the CA. Unfortunately, I got off the phone without verifying something small, and when I called back today a different representative informed me that I must make payment to the CA, as the balance due with the OC may not c

  8. Ok, so I'm finally doing something about my credit....and my last forgotten mistake from the past is coming back to bite me. Figures. Anyway, I owed 225.00 in state taxes for 2014 and honestly forgot all about them. It went to collections and I received a "request" for payment from Penn Credit. However, this is not yet on my credit report. I'm more than willing to just pay it, if I can avoid this showing up on my report. Is this possible? I was thinking about sending them a letter, certified mail with receipt of course, specifying that the stipulation of cashing the check is that they
  9. I received a Merrick Bank and a Capital One offer. Ther Merrick Bank was a 600.00 limit doubling to 1200.00 in 6 months. I can't recall the exact Capital One card. I'd think it would be a low 300.00 limit to start. As soon as the next update hits on my large credit card payment, I am going to start the trial offer from Credit Check Total and I will start a thread....thanks. Ok, just as I figured. Shred the Merrick Bank offer; it smells like sh!t. They generally have a $150 fee the first year and every year thereafter $100. I would take the CapOne offer. There is probably an annual fee,
  10. CLI's depend on your credit profile. You can't rely solely on the card. The card won't get you CLI's on its own if your credit does not qualify. If your credit is far less than perfect then you need to work on it versus relying solely on new accounts to solve all your problems. You need to consider the relevance of any scoring model. The CK VantageScores are only relevant to creditors that use a TU or EQ VantageScore in their decision. The same thing applies to any score out there. The FICO 8's provided by CCT are only relevant to creditors that use FICO 8's in their decision. Many do bu
  11. Thank you, and in that case I will opt out and then try to remove the old address. Psych Doc's Transcripts have me feeling inspired. Lol. I'm anxiously waiting for a large credit card payment to get reported to the agencies before I get my official reports and start taking real action here!!! Thanks again for your response.
  12. I have a total of 3 medical accounts in collections. I'm on it. I am curious though, why don't I have to attempt to delete old addresses? Two of the collection accounts are associated with an old address. By the way I did briefly read about that process as well.
  13. Hey Guys, I have a medical account in collections from 2014 totaling 180.00. The original creditor is an emergency care franchise called MedExpress. I had a minor emergency on Friday and returned to that same facility. The receptionist informed me that I had to pay the prior bill in order to be seen. After confirming with her that their records indicated it was in fact in collections, she proceeded to explain that they would be notifying the CA, Transworld, that the account was now paid in full. It actually worked out well in the sense that I was able to pay the old balance with my Heal
