  1. Don’t know if I want to poke the bear or if this is still a desirable credit union to join but I was able to successfully join from the Midwest via a donation to the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park society. Filled an application Saturday and it went to pending and asked me to upload a photo of my drivers license and just got a welcome email today. I noticed the verbiage was gone saying you need to be a permanent Pennsylvania resident. So out of state people can most definitely join PSECU again. Still a hard pull on EX. Application is all online, no need to have to print and mail
  2. I got a few. I'm a new member of Alliant, just joined a week ago haven't done anything with the account or even logged in since last Saturday when I opened the account. Was trying to sign in to the online banking a few hours ago to find the account and routing number to set up direct deposit for my job, and it wouldn't let me and im mysteriously locked out of online banking. Trying to login into the website tells me i'm restricted to online banking while their app has an error message saying theres a special condition on my account or missing information. When I called, the rep te
  3. Yup, I know that. Was just giving that as a data point since that was the most convenient score I had access to at the moment. My Walmart credit card account says my score is 691 as of August 3, 2017, quite a bit higher then the fako score CK gave me.
  4. Applied with a crapton of inquiries and new accounts and got a $3000 instant approval! Funny thing is I opened a Dicks Sporting Goods $300 limit, TJ Maxx $400 limit and JCPenney card with $900 limit in the past couple months, and none were the Mastercard version. Guess I got lucky on the Paypal card thankfully! Thank you Synchrony! I also have Paypal credit on the same account with $3300 limit. Some data points 649 TU score according to Credit Karma 17% Utilization about 32k Annual income About 86k in available credit across all my cards 23 inquiries, 15 of them are within the pas
  5. You'll have to wait for them to merge with another credit union (one that anyone can join via donating or a one time fee to some organization) like they did with USA Federal Credit Union in 2010. As to when/if that will happen, your guess is as good as mine.
  6. Fear, dread and anxiety: The Credit Union DifferenceTM I think i'm ok (I Hope)
  7. So those who got in via the NLUS San Diego method are our memberships and accounts still valid? I Joined June 2016 and got a credit card at the time (Which currently has a $25,000.00 credit limit!!!) and I have had no issue at all with NFCU over the past 14 months, just been scared to make them my primary financial institution out of fear my account will be locked by the overzealous membership auditors.
  8. NFCU is so amateur they hold your cash deposit made at a CO-OP Credit Union ATM for 5 days before it's available in your checking account. Live in Minnesota, no NFCU branches here, deposited some cash once into my checking at a local credit union's ATM that has automated cash and check deoosits, had to wait the full 5 business days before it showed up in my NFCU checking account. https://www.navyfederal.org/branches-atms/co-op-network-atms.php All check and cash deposits are subject to a five-business-day hold beginning the date the check is posted.
  9. They opened their membership up to the entire 13 county Minneapolis/St Paul metro area in 2009. And anyone in the country can join by donating $5 to the Wings Financial foundation (not sure how long donating $5 to the Wings Foundation has been around as a way to become eligible to join, but it is so it's a credit union that anyone can join)
  10. I live in Minnesota and use Wings as my main financial institution, they're incredible! Largest credit union in Minnesota in terms of assets by a landslide https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/subscriber-only/2016/05/20/credit-unions.html And Wings Financial is one of the top 30 or 40 largest credit unions in the USA and one of the top 200 healthiest credit unions in the nation on DepositAccount.com's list of the Top 200 healthiest US credit unions of 2017 https://www.depositaccounts.com/banks/health.aspx
  11. Back when I joined in June, I emailed everything early in the morning like 6-7am if I recall correctly and I heard back the same day like 1-2pm saying my membership has been opened. But reading here and on Myfico I appear to be in the minority it seems like.
  12. I've been a Navy Federal member for a little over 6 months now, joined back in June using the Navy League San Diego. Nothing but awesome experiences! And in around 4 months I went from a $1600 limit on my credit card to $5000 to $25,000. I guess I was one of the lucky ones, I originally emailed my membership application and all required documents in the morning at like 6 or 7 am, and by 2pm that same day I got an email back saying welcome to Navy Federal and an email from CreditKarma alerting me of a hard pull from Navy Federal, unlike others here who it's taking them weeks to hear back.
  13. Awesome! Were these auto CLIs are did you ask for them? I asked for them. The card was instant approved at 1600 and the CL I i asked for before I received the card in the mail resulted in a hard pull and wasn't an instant approval, they raised it to 5000. The CLI after 3 statements cut from $5000 to $25,000 was an instant approval and a soft pull. Always ask for $25,000 and they will counter with the max they're willing to give you. I thought i was tripping when I asked for $25,000 and I submitted it and said it was approved for the full 25k. And I must of been really lucky when I ema
  14. You can but read I've understood is if your membership actually gets opened & approved theres a higher chance of it being locked due to an eligibility audit. Not sure how true it is, take it with a grain of salt and YMMV
  15. It's been over 4 months since I joined via Navy League San Diego. Is it safe to move my direct deposit over now or are my accounts still at risk of potentially being locked by their membership audit security team? Already got my credit card to a $25,000 limit. Started at $1600, got a CLI before receiving it in the mail to $5000 and another CLI to $25,000 after 3 statements cut.
  16. So a hard pull for membership when you just get the savings/checking account. And then two more hard pulls for CC and CLOC? Yes. Unless you're really lucky and they double pull for the CLOC. Thanks for creating this thread. I read through it entirely before applying. On page 52 re-reading through it again about applying for a CC and CLOC. Do you know which CC is best to apply for....for getting a higher limit? I'm more focused on a higher limit than rewards at the moment. Don't think it really makes a difference and I believe (but not 100% sure so dont quote me on this) that
  17. What are your Fico scores and utilization? According to the free fico from Discover its 676 and the one on my American Express is 703. Utilization is 9% and my income is a tad less then $32,000/year.
  18. Have had my card just shy of 4 months. Got approved for $1600 initially, requested a CLI and got $5000 before I received the card in the mail in June (and it was a HP). And now almost 4 months later I got a SOFT PULL cli from $5000 to $25,000!!!!!!!!
  19. I was initially approved for $1600 cash Rewards when I joined, and a few days later after I was approved I requested a CLI (I typed in $20,000 or $25,000) and got it increased to $5000. Was an additional hard pull but worth it and got my card upgraded to the Visa Signature!
  20. It's not a loophole, it's a valid, legitimate way to join. Has been since 2010 when Navy Federal merged with USA Federal. When they merged, they were specifically asked to accept USA Federal's charter (field of membership) Oh, and that NFCU open to everyone thread was started before I even joined creditboards. And yet you're accusing me of poking the nest? The thread on Myfico started May 17, over 2 months ago. And was brought up on other sites and forums years before it was brought up on Myfico. It just didn't gain any traction until that thread on Myfico was started. And if NFCU does
  21. Nobody is skeptical anymore. Well, actually, I and a smaller circle of mine awaiting NFCU to process our applications were becoming skeptical for a specific reason -- Very recent membership dept probe emails asking for eligibility documentation no longer contain the line regarding the Navy League. They don't actively market or advertise eligible ways to join outside of their original field of membership. Hence why theres no mention of it on their website and why people incorrectly call it a loophole. It's not a loophole, it's a legitimate way to become eligible to join. This i
  22. I get my direct deposit 2 days early with DCU. Been a DCU member since I refinanced my auto loan back in January. Will depend too on your employer and how and when they transmit your direct deposit.
  23. If you want to get paid early join DCU. I think Nasa FCU offers direct deposit a day early as well.
  24. Had this and the NFCU thread open in two tabs right by each other and accidentally posted it here without realizing it.
