  1. I just received my first large CLI on my NRewards. 4th statement cut about a week ago. I read somewhere to ask for a CLI on your CLOC after your first soft pull CLI on your credit card. The thing is, I only had my CLOC for a month. I applied for $5k wen opened and was approved. Then few days later tried to get a CLI, no go. Said account was too new. Question is, should I now try to request a CLI on my CLOC just because I was approved for my large CLI on my NRewards? FYI: Scores are around 650. Was over 700 but have some new accounts. Thanks for the advice. Also are CLI's o
  2. I was actually approved for the PenFed Plat rewards for 10k, however they wanted a stack of docs.. I asked them to just remove the app.. With that said, when you have more history with Penfed do they tend to be more easy and not request docs?
  3. Yeah, I think I'm just going to take my time with PenFed. Prob will ask in 6 months.
  4. I did that once with Alliant. Approved on the spot (no docs at all) for $5k (it's what I asked for) then, I just told the guy hey, maybe I should ask for more. He said, the best time to ask is when you first open your account, your $5k is approved, so no harm. I asked him to increase to $15k, put me on hold, wanted full tax docs and a stack of other docs.. I sent them some of the docs, they removed my approval of $5k and said they're going to close my account. Learned my lesson on that one lol take what you can get that's why I ask for little amounts now and just increase later. Times have ch
  5. Sorry but,,, NO. A maxed out $500 toy card limit by an AU will have the exact same effect on your FICO score as a maxed our 50K TL from a prime lender. The ONLY difference is the dollar amount of the debt you allowed your AU to incur that you're on the hook for! Cash is King, (when it's gone, it's gone). Credit usage is a game best played by responsible Adults. "Utilization protection from family" was a joke lol What's the deal with that Meow Mix? lol
  6. Called PenFed, they requested some docs. DL, SSC, proof of address, notarized it all, approved for $2,500. (That's all I requested) Thinking I should have asked for way more, pretty sure they would have given it. But I'm thankful. My highest limit is with DCU for $5k. However, NFCU should give me some crazy love here soon when I request a CLI with them How long should I wait for another CLI on this PenFed Thrifty Credit Service?

  8. Ok.. Here's the thing. My wife is truly a shopaholic and the kids are untrustable with credit lol So what to do? You know those crappy sub prime cards you don't want to close? Just give them one of those B cards serve a GREAT purpose. Utilization protection from family! haha
  9. Hey all, I just opened a PenFed Thrifty Credit Service account about a week ago (only asked for $500 to get it opened) should I use it and make some payments on it before requesting a CLI?Or is using the account considered negative activity because it's overdraft? Confused.. Also, how long should I wait for the CLI? Score is close to 700.
  10. FWIW, I'll have no guaranteed income in retirement. Not even SS. what is it they say? oh, yah... get credit when you can, not when you need it +1
  11. "Also, what other CU would I be able to apply with, who are equal to or better than Penfed? I know approvals are not guaranteed but I figured, Id try again elsewhere." Anyone have some advice on this for the OP?
  12. Actually, there's one suggestion right there. Just sayin. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."
  13. One thing to keep in mind, is that a lot of us use the search box.. I ended up on this page searching for CU's that don't have an issue with a bunch of inquires. Read 3 pages deep, and not one tip. Sure, I get it... The guy is trying to help someone and he don't know what he's doing.. But again, tons of us have come to read this looking for the same answer Hope you all don't start making fun of me now :/ lol
