  2. I got my scores from my Experian account - are those legit or should I get a fico subscription instead? Yes, this is the only card I have open. It's the first one I attempted. I was pleasantly surprised at the credit limit. I am considering opening a secured line of credit at my credit union and/or another card of some type. I would love some guidance on who to open and timing. I want to use whatever strategy will boost my credit rather than randomly open a bunch of cards that aren't really helpful. Any suggestions?? 🙂

  5. I was attending Portland State University. Here is states it is the descretion of the teacher to drop a student. However, this was well into the term so it does not make sense to me why he dropped me without talking to me first. https://www.pdx.edu/registration/attendance
  6. Hi, I was attending school and then got a new job. I fell behind in one of my classes, and the professor withdrew me from the class. I had student loans out for that term, and it appears that the school gave the tuition money back to the lender. They sent me a tuition bill. I filed BK and it was discharged in September 2021. I included the school tuition in the BK. The school did not appeal the inclusion. Once the discharge was complete, the school sent me a bill for the tuition stating it was considered a student loan and not dischargeable. In the meantime, I consolidated and refinanced my student loans. If the school wanted to dispute their inclusion in the BK, shouldn't they have done that prior to discharge? They have sent my tuition bill to collections and I want to get it resolved as soon as possible. I wanted to get advice here first, but am considering having a lawyer send them a letter. O Mighty CreditBoards, What say you?
  7. At this point I am not sure since there are a lot of things up in the air. It is likely a 7. I will check out the subforum, thanks for the tip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. My business is filing BK and I’m probably going to have to file personally too. How fast can my personal credit score recover from this? Is there a thread on here specific to rebuilding as quickly as possible? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yes, I appreciate this. I'm only juggling about 10K and my business generates 1.5m a year, so I don't think that will be an issue. The issue is that we work with schools, make our money in 9 months and the income dips dramatically in the summer. On top of that then, we gear up for fall and have a lot of expenses before we start getting paid. I'm working on smoothing out the gap and so far, in the last 12 years, I juggle but we always make it through. It's not always pretty, but we make it. And I'm charging a lot, but I'm also making multiple payments on cards through the month. So it is about cashflow and managing the gap more than just racking up debt. I'm not interested in that. I'm doing my best to conserve cash and also earn the points available on my AMEX Delta so that later down the road I can get upgrades or free flights, etc. I have a spreadsheet for my cards, listed by pay date and I know what my balances are, what my utilization percent is, and have it set to update that when I make a payment. So if I make the payments as I've planned, my utilization will be about 20%. Not too bad all things considered and I'm working on getting it lower. I'm new to this whole game and it doesn't all make sense to me yet, but I'm learning. Someone mentioned the ideal utilization amount is not 30%. It's been my understanding that you want to keep your utilization under that - what is the ideal utilization? Zero?? Thanks for your patience in explaining things to me. DS
  10. Seriously dude, have you even reviewed your reports? Yes, I just looked, and all my other cards are reporting but my AMEX cards have not yet reported. I have one personal and one business. My question is, will my AMEX SPG Business card report on my personal report or will it report only to my business report - is that an unusual question?
  11. What is the point of building up credit if you can't use it to juggle a bit when you need it? If the choice is keep my business going or have a perfect FICO score - I'll save my business.
  12. Thanks Kat58. I have an AMEX SPG business card. Do you happen to know if that reports on my personal report?? TIA
  13. My question is: when I average out my debt to available credit - it is below 30%. However, there are two cards that are over 50% each individually. Will having two cards over 50% hurt my score? Does the debt ratio work on all of your cards or one by one? I'm juggling some business expenses during summer which is a slow time of year for me - and I'm wanting to make sure I put the cash I have on hand to the best use. Thanks in advance DS
  14. My scores are myfico.com. I have 6 paid medical collections that are close to falling off and I'm going to request they are deleted early. My utilization was reported at 10% The PR was dated 2014. I have 1 missed payment from a year ago on a student loan. Otherwise that is all. I also just opened: 2 AMEX, 1 Discover, 1 Chase, 1 walmart, 1 amazon, 1 Talbots - all in the last month. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
