  1. I searched the site, I promise. This subject really needs to be a PINNED topic! Question: How does one go about getting a hard copy/paper copy of their credit reports (all 3 bureaus) mailed to them? Is there only one way to do it (phone, online, etc)? Paying for it isn't the issue, getting it is. Thanks!
  2. So glad I ditched USAA. They definitely cater to higher income folks (AKA officers), from what I've witnessed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I actually had a similar issue. Mine was already with a CA and I paid the OC. I had to contact the OC a few times before the CA deleted it but they did delete it. I believe that's one of the first rules in credit repair, pay the OC if at all possible. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. I've hawked my credit scores and reports for the past 3 years, weekly at least, and MyFico scores never matched what I would receive from the financial institutions when being denied or gaining credit. The financial institutions scores are ALWAYS lower than any I could find online or on paper. Its a shady racket. I would say order your scores from the credit reporting agencies directly and go from there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Send USAA a private message online and let them know you're not happy about the reporting. They did something similar to me, I messaged them, they called me, and they corrected the credit reporting. I was pretty upset about it and let them know that so ymmv. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Just an FYI, if it hasn't been stated here already, all 3 Credit Agencies referenced Lexus Nexus as their source for the BK verification.
  7. How does this effect scoring? I'm assuming a 0 balance has a positive effect? yes just like credit card sweet! Thanks!
  8. Why even post in this thread if you don't have any inclination to help? You have no idea of the situation and I don't want/need to air out my entire life here. Just looking for some advice/help in an area I know nothing about. She's working full time and not on any guberment assistance. You obviously don't have any children you care about.
  9. OK more to update this. Sorry for not putting everything out there to begin with. She's had her federal taxes taken in the past. The plan she's on is to prevent garnishment and taking tax refunds, or so she thought. She has already received her full federal refund for 2016. I'm going to send the folks in the state a letter asking what's going on, in her name of course. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk has she adjusted her W4 to have as little withheld as possible? Good idea! We'll see what the state says about the debt and go from there.
  10. She's paying the bill. That grown up enough for you? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Oh yeah, she didn't pay them like she should have. No doubt there. Her state "debt" has been paid for over a year, hence the question. I've never dealt with a student loan in my life, no idea what's normal. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. If I (she) had all the documents I probably wouldn't even be here, lol. Kids, gotta love em', I guess. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. How were your credit reports at that time? Mid 600's with a dismissed BK in 2014. 2 vehicle loans last year, a low limit cap one cc, and a NFCU secured for about 18 months. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Is there any better way to get back at a bank than opening up a stable of useless credit accounts from their competitors? Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. He has a Navy Federal card, too. I've never understood the point of those kinds of posts. There's nothing useful at all in them. It's quite sad actually. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Agreed! It's a matter of taking a stand for yourself as well as others in your financial wheelhouse. I can only take so much. The only card I had with them was secured and it had an annual fee so no-brainer there. I've yet to close my checking account but that's coming. 2 years ago my phone number was illegally ported to a pay as you go phone on t-mobile and they went straight to USAA to cause damage. USAA could not have handled it worse. As the victim I was treated as the offender, for literally years after. The only reason I stayed was lack of financial options and insurance premiums. My finances are good now so I can take the premiums hit. There's a ton of particulars to my decision but I think the point is made. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  18. Is it illegal to post at least a summary of these "news stories" here or are you promoting web sites?
  19. Hopefully noone minds my USAA bashing here. I was with them for around 20 years, they've gone downhill bad in the last few years. Screwed up our auto insurance 3 times over the last year, major screw ups. I had a checking, savings, auto & homeowners with them. Closed my secured CC last year because they were unwilling to graduate it or give me a regular cc, after over 18 months. In mid-April I apped with them for a CC, just to give them a chance, they failed instantly! It was an instant decision, like 5 seconds. I did write them a message online telling them to look into that instant decision, they maintained it. Once I heard their answer I apped like crazy. I ended up with a HUGE NFCU CC, NFCU CLOC, Best Buy CC, and a wal-mart CC. As soon as I got the answer from NFCU on the CC & I began my move away from USAA like they were on fire. I made sure to tell every arm of their business while cancelling exactly why I was leaving. I don't know what their problem is. I guess since I'm a little ol' retired Enlisted guy I don't matter. Good riddance! I couldn't be happier with NFCU!
  20. Is there no other NON Hard Copy that lists these?
  21. I'm going over my daughters "repayment" of her student loans currently with Great Lakes. I have zero knowledge on student loans so forgive me. I'm seeing this: Subsidized interest @ 3.150% and Unsubsidized @ 6.550%, accrued interest $219! Is it commonplace to be charged interest on student loans? I'm sorry but paying interest on a federal student loan just seems utterly ridiculous which prompted me to come here and seek answers. Also, her state refund was garnished by "AG DELINQUENT STUDENT LOANS", Garnishment-Department of Justice (she's in Louisiana). How can the state hold money and not the IRS (she received her full Federal refund)? The school she obtained these loans is in Lowsyana but that account has been at 0 since 2016. I am going to do up a letter to send them, at the very least, to find out what the garnishment in Lowsyana is for. **also, is it common to garnish taxes of any kind if you're in a payment program, which she's been in for about a year. Any help will be appreciated.
  22. I can't believe they expected a crook to do the right thing to begin with. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. If you can get in with NFCU, do it! If not, stay on the steady. The credit scam is a marathon not a sprint, sad to say. Bets of luck and it WILL get better! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
