Maybe they are conspiring with aliens to make you think you are more than one person
  2. I don't think mine is and I don't think I'm going to drop below 800 on any CRA... but FICO can be a funny thing... However, it's only temporary. Nothing will go to under 2 years. My last two cleared the hurdle.
  3. If this is the end, this will be my prompt to combine and close, which could put me close to (or at) $100k on a single revolver, depending on how my perpetually-pending 4506-T CLI request turns out. I have $97k combined now. Always looking for the silver lining... Funny you should say that... I've been thinking about closing a D* card and moving the limit. May be time to do it if this happens. With the C$R I could close two and combine. I'll lose the Hilton Honors bonus points (good for about 6 free nights a year), or the BCE cash back, but what the hell... The C$R is a pretty strong travel card. And... I can always pick up the Citi Hilton card... I like your silver lining idea... Are there ongoing bonus points on the Hilton card? Why would you lose Hilton points? Current promo is 2000 points per day when using the card to reserve and pay Plus there is a separate Amex bonus every month. I don't think that ended. Seems to be around 5000 points. Oh, so you're saying that you'd lose certain future point-earning opportunities... not that they were going to claw back points. yep... my apologies for not being clear...
  4. CB is somewhat like a computer... put bad info in and get bad info out... That said... you are really considering ripping out new floors to put new floors in? I know a guy who does stuff like that... he makes roughly $10M a year... I still tell him he's crazy.... I'm guessing your income isn't 8 figures. Mine sure as hell isn't.

  7. Your reporting date is after mine... my last date was February 10th. I dunno... thinking this may be a cluster*ck of epic proportions... at least in the short-term. Will drop my AAOA to 5 years on EQ and EX and just under 6 on TU if it shows up on FICO Could be worse... at least my credit aging is old enough to mitigate the damage...
  8. I think you are "wishful thinking" I think you are going to drop your scores by at least 75 points if you can even pull it off because you are going to max two cards plus likely your global limits I think you are going to guarantee you can't get any new credit for a long time because you are maxed out I think you are putting your new house and credit future at risk... You asked... don't shoot the messenger
  9. Well... that is not a good thing... I just checked Cap 1 TU update and it still shows all mine as D*
  10. be strong... Do not rationalize a bad decision... You'll be glad you didn't do this
  11. Thank and I totally get that. I did the math and since they are all 0% interest, then my payments will total just under $200 per month. I'm not maxing the cards out, I just want those limits. After 17 months, I will balance transfer to a new card with 0% interest. So you will be looking at a BT for $19,600. You will likely max the card out with the BT if you get a limit high enough to cover it... and... you'll have almost a $600 fee on top of it most likely. If you get an new 18 month promo you'll have to pay over $1000 a month to meet the promo terms. Whew... I can't comprehend that. Good luck. I would set priorities so you don't put yourself in serious risk of bottoming out. Bottoming Out? What do you mean? How can I avoid that from happening? I don't care if my credit score takes a few dings because at this point I have my house and my cars. I also have money saved since I went through NACA for my house. I just want to make the best decisions possible. It looks to me like you are using credit card "wishful thinking" and setting yourself up for a never ending balance transfer cycle (provided) you can get credit to do so... CV is right... all those purchases are non-essential. Just set some priorities... do one thing at a time. Get a Lowe's card with a decent limit. Do your floor if it "needs" to be done. Pay the purchase off. Then attack the other things you "want" You'll like your house just as much without all the new stuff

  13. Less than 12k wouldn't necessarily be a waste... you would take a short-term ding for higher utilization on FICO... But, is that preferable to the interest you are going to begin to pay when your promo period ends? Try BOA or NFCU
  14. I don't see how you can "make sure". Set your priorities and choose accordingly. Lowes will likely give you the highest limit and you can recon if you don't get it. That is a lot of credit to be piling on a brand new mortgage... not judging... just pointing it out.
  15. Are any BCP or BCE? Have they all updated to TU for February? BCE Last reported February 10, 2017 Other Amex cards reported PRG February 5, ED February 5, HH February 7
  16. 4 Amex D* cards... all still good
  17. If it says pre-approval for up to $25k then it will be... it's a check not an application. When you sign the check and deposit you agree to the loan. But at 14.99% that is a HUGE payment... Do the math. If it works out in your favor... do it. Be careful of wishful/good intentions math... like I won't run more debt up... I'll pay this off quicker... you know... that kind of stuff...
  18. They MAY do a soft pull. It depends on how long it is after AR that you request a credit line increase whether it's a soft or hard.
  19. Three suggestions to help him BUILD a strong credit profile... not necessarily which cards to get... Avoid store cards Pay his bills on time every time Avoid carrying a balance unless it's a 0% offer
  20. I tip any worker providing a service... Food... minimum 20% Bartender... I get as much in free drinks and awesome service than my tips cost... even when the bar is packed... Delivery guys... $20 bucks a guy usually if it's a heavy thing that I don't want to be bothered with.
  21. This can be a tough crowd... Remember... it's you asking the question... don't take the answers personally... it's never personal. You won't always agree, but you did ask for opinions and get them you will... We all answer from the perspective of our experience.
  22. I believe that PenFed and Chase Freedom and Discover are far better options than your average gas card because of the 5% cash back periods... or with PenFed Rewards 4.25% which is easily 5% or more when combined with other cents off offers or grocery store points, convenience stores... etc. and you certainly don't want to be carrying a balance and paying interest on gas... But as Konrad said... damage is done... I wouldn't close them, I would just look for better options.
