  1. I got a letter from IC systems of state tax debt they were collecting. I called the state and the debt is from 2004 for and it is legit. It is not showing on any CR or tax liens. Since I moved back to the state last year they did take my state return and apply to the balance. I spoke with the state and was able to have late fees removed but will only allow me to deal with the collector. The past due is about 950.00 How should I proceed? My main goal is to protect my credit. I do have the cash. Thanks in advance
  2. I was in the position of some of the Newbies and to be honest I consider myself still a newb. I came to this site 15 months ago in the 580's and only could get a secured card. I didn't follow the rules perfectly or I would probably not had as many issues. I was a renter not even considering a mortgage. I've learn so much from this site that has help me clean up my credit (with only one ding and more hard inquiry than happy about). Today trans 740, exp 744,equ 702, my middle score for my home loan is 719. I have a house closing set for next month with 0 points. I had 3 lenders give me pre-approval letters before I went house shopping. Now here is whats in my wallet (remember I had no traditional cards): wells fargo 5k no balance BOA 5K no balance capital one 4300 no balance amex 9k 1200 balance navy 24k 0 balance Nasa 25k 0 balance gefcu 1k 0 balance secured I still have a ways to go and expect a drop in score once the home loan shows on my credit. However if it wasn't for success stories and how to's on this site it wouldn't happen. My new goal is 800's Thank you all for your help and making this a great site.
  3. Thanks everyone I file A complaint with BBB and lets hope that this works.
  4. They say the account is settled but for less than owed. It also still shows as a paid collection. Its costing me 50 points on Equifax.
  5. I have an old collection account I paid with Verizon 15 months ago, they originally sent me a letter saying they would settle for 1/2 and would remove collection. I sent payment but included a delete and remove letter and wrote on the payment that this for remove and delete. Verizon will not acknowledge that as being agreement and my letter or payment did not come to there correspondence address but to there processing center and they will not acknowledge that as being an agreement. Equifax says that Verizon states it is reported correctly. Am I stuck with this four next four years? It reads as listed. 13. Hey guys so I have been on a goal to get higher limits and for some reason the Banks have been showing me love: WFwas 2300 asked for 8k they gave me 4k..with a soft pull. BOA was at 1500 ask for 5k gave me 5k with hard pull. The kicker today is I open a Navy Federal account and immediately applied for a CC. instant approval for 23k......wow I am at a loss...... 1 year ago I was in the 500's with one secured card..... This board has truly help me rebuild my credit......
  14. I did this over last year and received a form 10916 A. I spoke with equifax and sent the document in they will not remove it. Only mark it paid, what do you suggest? If you have sent the form 10916A to EQ and they have not removed the PR, then file a complaint with the CFPB: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/ and select "credit reporting." Should disappear shortly after that. Thank you I filed the complaint
