  2. I have one collection account with Afni for an old Sprint account. Afni will not delete for payment. Offered 50% settlement. I can PIF directly to Sprint then dispute to CRA and CA for removal. What's the best strategy. I really want the collection removed.
  3. The collections are recent as of last month. I simply neglected to pay my final bills after switching service for my phone and cable. I am looking at hard copy EX. I pulled TU and EQ through annualcreditreport and don't have hard copies. Can I purchase the hard copies or can I call and request them using report #s pulled through annualcreditreport? Not sure how to get hard copies now. My scores have dropped 50-100 points. Used Credit Karma for TU and EQ scores. Also bought scores directly from each CRAwhen I pulled reports online.
  4. Hello- My goal is to clean up old TLs included in BK if possible. Refi my 12.48% Cap One Auto Loan EX Report Details- Public Record: Fully Discharged Ch7 BK 2013. This is accurate. TLs included in BK 1. BOA – account history notes incorrect. States debt included in ch7 BK on 2/1/13. Accurate date 2/13/13. Will continue on report until 4/2018. 2. BOA – account history notes incorrect. Stated debt include in ch7 BK on 2/7/13. Accurate date same as above. Will continue on report until 6/2017. 3. Capital One Auto Finance – 7 late payments reported as of 6/2015. Would like to send a GW letter asking them to report as “paid never late” account current as of 2/2016, 4. Capital One Auto Finance – Account History states debt included in Ch7 BK 9/13/2012. Discharged through BK. Also states account previously disputed – investigation complete, reported by data furnisher. I kept the car during BK and paid the full balance. How can I have this removed? No payment history reported. Send procedural request to CRA? 5. Capital One CC – Will be obsolete 8/2016. I will not touch this one. Good idea or should I? 6. Georgia’s Own Credit Union – Discharged in BK. Will report on report until 7/2018. Should I send a GW letter to remove? 7. Wells Fargo CC – Was a secured card, never late was closed by grantor when I filed BK. Status closed. Paid. GW to request removal? Collections: 1. Diversified Consultants (Sprint) $371. Validation letter mailed CMRR 2/24. Will dispute with OC once the green card is returned. The amount is incorrect. 2. The CBE Group (Direct TV) $253. I will return equipment in person tomorrow then call customer care to pay the bill then send CA validation letter. This strategy worked for a collection account with Progressive. The baddie was deleted with 1 week. Student Loans: 13 from Undergrad and Grad Combined - Defaulted 1. 9 Fed Loan servicing all showing same acct #. Payment history is incorrect. Currently in rehab (3rd month.) 4 US Dpt of ED. I previously paid 8 months on time in rehab but never signed the rehab agreement. All the payments made during that time are not reflected in balances. How can I get a list of all loans and original balances? Accounts in good standing: 1). Amex (Delta) Paid Closed/Never late. 2). 2 Cap One CC Paid/Closed/Never late. 3). 1 Cap One Plat Open/Never late $1,800. $200 balance. 4). 2 Citi Financial Loans Refinance. Paid, Closed Never late. 7). Amex Blue - Added as AU on 2/22/16 Awaiting card. Will request backdating. My delinquencies are all due to 28 months of unemployment. Should I add a consumer statement once I attach these baddies? Thanks for your help.
  5. After reading this post I requested a CLI on my Cap One Plat. The limit is $1,800 and balance is $200 which I will pay off before my statement. So excited about rebuilding. Will use request again in 6 months. Woo hoo!

  7. Hello! I am looking at my TU CR and have 23 negatives all of which have $0 balance b/c they were included in a C7 BK that was discharged 07/13. What's the best process to have these negatives removed?

  10. Best advice. Discriminating based on credit history is not against the law. Obviously, you need to rent from someone that won't check, because those scores will scream that you don't care about paying what you promise. Go through Craig's list, or even the newspaper, and try to figure out who is a professional landlord, and who is someone renting their own property for whatever reason. Don't go through a management company, don't go through a locator, only pursue it if it is the actual, amateur owner. A single family home is your best bet to find the right situation, although a duplex might work. More units than that, and the landlord knows not to trust their gut and has probably had enough tenants and bad experiences that they know to run a proper application that includes credit. You want someone that thinks they are a good judge of character and prefers to rent to someone they trust at first sight. If they are just an individual and ask you to pay an application fee, you can either move on, or try to politely ask if they will check credit. They will always do a criminal background check, some don't check credit, but if they require a fee they probably will check credit too. Best to just avoid it in your situation. Making your kids part of the conversation, having a great personality and saying you can move in quickly (not in 50 days) will help. Ask if there's anyway you can pay electronically, landlords younger than 70 like that and there are a bunch or services to make it easy nowadays. Landlords with an empty house want you to move in and start paying tomorrow in a perfect world. I used to run a multi-office locator myself, so can tell you where you will have no luck. Fun fact to be aware of - unlicensed, amateur landlords like this are not subject to Fair Housing restrictions. They can not rent to single moms or single males, only rent to people from their church, deny service animals, etc. They can't discriminate based on race (that is a different law), but can on just about anything else as long as they never get any sort of real estate license (or get enough properties to look like they want "landlord" to be one of their professions, some say > 4), or use a management company.
  11. My current rent is well below market rates bc I live south of the city. Current rent $850. Rent varies from $1150-$1300 closer in-town near my job. I have found a rental town-home and will be meeting with the owner Sunday. I have all my documents together from the current management, student loan repayment, income verification and monthly budget is in the works. Will freezing my EQ and EX only allow them to see TU? What if they pull one of the others, is that an auto decline?
  12. Again, $86K per year comes out to about $5K per month take home pay. OP said, "My monthly expenses are high b/c I live 40 miles away from work and gas alone is $400, car note is $579 and Car Insurance is $181." That's $1160 per month for the car, gas, and insurance, leaving over $3800 per month for other expenses. OP appears to have no other debt except the $645 balance on the Cap One card and the student loans. I noticed that nowhere in any of her posts did OP tell us how much her rent was per month, nor did she tell us how much her student loan payments were per month. Those are important pieces of information to know if we're going to properly assess her options.

  14. I would recommend doing the following: Have a written statement ready explaining your credit report. You can attach it to your rental application. Letter of recommendations from your current and past landlord Letter from your employer Have a statement explaining your past financial issues and what you have done to resolve them, highlight your employments and housing. This gives a landlord a full picture of your character and let them judge your based on a credit report. Thanks DVD! Many of the apartments use online processing but I will ask to speak with the manager when I visit tomorrow.
  15. I appreciate all the feedback and advise. To address a few questions: I receive $425 in Child Support, it's not court ordered and is paid irregularly. We went to mediation in August and support will be court order within few months, $800/ month. I was laid off in 2010 at that time I was single, no kids; income was $67K. I had a condo and car loan and paid min on student loans, BOA Visa, BOA Amex, Citi Card, Delta Amex and personal loan from my credit union. After being laid off Amex closed; paid, my Delta card and BOA CC and mortgage where all in collections before I attempted a short sale. House was sold on court house steps- purchased by the individual who put a contract on the short sale. After 28 months of not working I took a sales job making $48K for one year and then $24K the following plus commission. I did not do well in that job and made $30K that 2013. My paychecks were being garnished and to stop that I filed BK. I didn't have any savings. 2014 I changed jobs making $55K and BK was discharged; received a raise a year later $63K. Did not open any new accts and students loans were nearing default. 2015 I was promoted and income is $70K plus a side hustle to pay my son's daycare is roughly $16K (the side hustle income, not daycare); thus $86K income. My Cap One Auto loan APR is 12.58%. I will pay off the Cap One CC today. Everything else was included in BK but some accts are just showing closed. My monthly expenses are high b/c I live 40 miles away from work and gas alone is $400, car note is $579 and Car Insurance is $181. I never learned to budget my money and live paycheck to paycheck except of emergency fund and savings in my 401K which is less than 5K. I am thinking positively that I can turn this ship around. Going to look at renting from individual homeowner. **Question** Will freezing EX and EQ permit me from applying for an apartment or home? The place I'm in now pulled and reported through TU.   16. I live in Georgia. All my accts were included in my BK in 2012 except my student loans. I have 35-38 showing closed majority were included in BK except 13 student loans; I mentioned student loans currently in rehab. Otherwise, I see my previous car loan reporting incorrectly as closed never paid, but it was paid in full. Thanks for the advice. I will use the strategy to freeze EX and EQ and attack TU. Is 30 days realistic to do so? I'll also ask for the hand written letter from my current landlord and ask the apt complex for more details. I can an additional deposit as well.
  17. I'm a single mother with horrible credit. I have two open accounts, Cap One Auto Finance $20.5K and Cap One Platinum $800 CLi $645 Balance. I've lacked financial discipline for so long and it's now impacting my child's life and I can no longer ignore it. My child is 3 years old. Landlord wants to move back in his home. I have been here for 2 years, never late. BK in 2013 after 28 months of unemployment. Income is 86K so I have the means to pay but my payment history prior to now is so bad it's holding me back. EQ 439 EX 480 TU 585 I don't know where to start! My student loans are in a rehab and have 7 more months to go. Need hand holding to get started to rebuild and find a place to live.
