You're asking a bunch of questions without clear cut answers, especially how they all relate to one another. FICO definitely works by milestones and not on a scale but a step. So 6 months is better than 5. 24 months is better 23 months. In fact score-wise there may be no difference between 18 months and 23 months whether relating to new accounts or derogatory info. Also what is significant? 5 points? 10 points? 20 points? 40 points? Very subjective. Someone with a 696 might consider 5 points significant, putting them over 700. Someone with a 780 probably gives 0 fuqs about 5 points because they're essentially meaningless.

The Master 2% Back/No AF Thread (Don't Settle for Less!)

Looks like a good candidate to me. Why the hesitation to recommend? Because you're intimidating. -
Definitely hit up some EQ pullers from your area. Try for the major banks. If they don't pull EQ in your area, then try DCU or PenFed. You are definitely on the right track to build credit while cleaning credit. Just stay away from most store cards, First Premier, Credit One, Merrick. What you should really do is calculate how/where you spend your money, and then come here and determine which cards best meet your needs.

I made a batch of seasoned salt/dry rub. Came out ok. 1/2 cup salt (I used Himalayan-type) 1/2 cup pure chile powder 1/2 cup ground pepper 2 Tbsp garlic granules 1 Tbsp sugar Used it in potatoe wedges before i threw them in the oven. Also used it on grilled corn.

Does not driving a vehicle much cause tires to go bad?
Konrad2012 replied to cv91915's topic in General Discussion
Gotta love dealerships/mechanics. On another note, I love cars also but have no desire to wrench on them or get dirty from them. I got one of my cars detailed last week and the seats and dash were all oily when I picked it up. Bugs the hell out of me. I let it sit in the hot sun all day so the leather could soak up whatever it could and then wiped it down afterwards. Who wants to rub a dirty tire? Might as well just go rub the dirty parking lot. Or lick the bottom of your shoe after exiting a public restroom. -

There are SOME tires that even a ten day period is more than enough to flat spot. Driving will bring them more or less back into round. However, this tends to be more associated with the ultra soft high performance tires. But I see it even on the X-Type which, although a manual transmission, is NOT a high performance vehicle. It does get good tires since it is AWD but they are not the uber-soft UHP type. One of my best friends has a 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera. It doesn't get driven but a couple times a month and he doesn't keep it on jacks. His uncle has a LaFerrari, an Enzo and a Carrera GT in his garage. None of them are on jacks. He doesn't drive them but once a month each since he prefers his Maybach. Tim's GT-3 isn't kept on jacks and neither is Daniel's Saleen S7. I know 5 people with McLarens and none of them keep them on jacks. I'm just sayin... -
You seem like a guy that should be in to high powered rocketry. http://www.tripolisandiego.org Lots of the tracking and transmission systems involved in rocketry require a Ham license.

The word clinical makes it more expensive. If you REALLY think the 19.2% compared to 20% makes a difference, then keep paying xx% more. But you're getting screwed.

If they gave you a $300 travel credit and then you were refunded $300 from your reservation, you should still be up $300.

Sounds like what I've heard called a "hood rental" - people renting out stolen cars Turo is a very popular way to rent cars from low end to AMG Mercedes.

Guess I'm the only person that thought this was amusing - "If account has 100 or more transactions, receive a FREE year-end account summary" The FREE is their emphasis not mine. -
BBC drama examines debt collection case that led to suicide
Konrad2012 replied to ICANHASMUNY?'s topic in General Discussion
The article did say. The Mom's boyfriend actually paid over half the debt. He really only owed £507. Last time I checked, the British Army was hiring-https://apply.army.mod.uk So is the Royal Navy-https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/careers/joining Except he was in debt. British army is a bit different than the American army. If someone is in debt or in bankruptcy, they look at you long and hard before deciding if they will let you join. My understanding is the British army is a bit more selective as to who they allow to join.Plus, not everyone is Military material. Amazing...a military service that expects its applicants to be responsible. What a concept... I'm not sure where either of you get any of your concepts of the military. Whether that be US or British or Al-Qaeda or Ansar al-Sunna or Ba'athists or Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad etc. The British Army has been having so much trouble filling it's ranks that they have repeatedly relaxed recruiting standards and quotas from Cyprus, Malta, Ireland, Jamaica, Ghana etc. The only unit they hard cap is the Gurkhas. They certainly don't disqualify British citizens with $650 in debt. But you're right Tigz, he would have washed out in the first week. -

I'm not sad. I didn't know him. He didn't do anything special. He didn't sacrifice himself for others or for a greater cause. He didn't do anything notable or great. 150,000 people die everyday. -

If everyone on CB killed themselves over ~$1300, this would be a mighty slow board. -

He couldn't follow basic traffic laws. Imagine a road system without basic traffic laws. Maybe when he took an illegal right turn he had hit your elderly mother in a crosswalk. Would you be so sympathetic then? Lots of people fight physical and mental wounds to stay alive on a daily basis. People who have been shot, blown up, burned. People with traumatic brain injuries. People with cancer and disease. People with PTSD who have seen and done stuff you can't comprehend. This guy offs himself over some tickets and you empathize with him? I know literally hundreds of people who would trade their situation for his petty problems in a heartbeat. And none of them quit. Screw him. -

Jesus you guys. He said the car only sits for 10 days at a time, not 10 months. Either needs aligned/balanced, or has a dinged rim, or needs new shocks/struts. Or since he bought it used, someone crashed the vehicle previously. Telling him to put the car on jacks made me laugh. -
Put a couple bucks at least on one CC before it reports. You get more FICO points for having 1 CC at or around 1% than having all of them at zero. Plus it might take you a couple months to be re-bucketed to your highest possible score. Like Shifter said, Costco is now a Citi Visa product. Try for an AMEX product that meets your spend patterns/needs. If you are still blacklisted, they won't even bother pulling your credit. As for inactivity, I would suggest using each of your Visa/MC/AMEX/Discover cards every 3-6 months for a small charge just to keep them active and reporting. Buy a beer, and push a payment the following day for the total amount.

How often should one start with a fresh bath towel?
Konrad2012 replied to cv91915's topic in General Discussion
Jeans and slacks don't get washed every time I wear them - unless they actually get dirty. T-shirts and such get washed every time. The towel thing is funny. My wife usually does the laundry. If I do the towels, I go and rip everything out of the bathrooms. My wife will be like "I just put those towels out today! We've only used the once." My train of thought is "I am doing a load of laundry and might as well make it the biggest load the machine can handle. And why would I not do the "clean" dirty towels?" Then I won't do laundry again for a while." -
The MS wouldn't be a business charge, so I'm not sure what the personal/business issue is?
