  2. I do love checking this thread! Good vibes and a laugh is appreciated:)
  3. received hard copy from EX and addresses reported to neg tradlines removed! Address reporting to positive is reporting to correct address...WooHoo
  4. HI there, I wanted to weigh in since I have LOTS of experience here I'm afraid. This is hard & I'm sorry you all are going through this. Our job is to be their advocate while still being their loving child. I did get some great help though so here is my five cents. First thing I was told to do was create 2 separate Durable Power of Attorney for both my parents. One medical, one financial. Do this immediately. I was advised to approach mom who was caring for dad w/terminal cancer and broach subject as a way of seeing their wishes respected. My mom became ill right after dad passed and I am glad I did. To get access to the accounts tell them you need to be added as a signer so you can make deposits freely. My bank wont let you deposit any cash in an account you aren't a signer on because of terrorists and drug dealers. If at all possible Quitclaim the house over asap (or Gift deed/Revocable Gift deed. Whichever your Legal counsel that you trust suggests). The good people at The Counsel on Aging (non profit in every community, find them) advised I submit letter to c&d the collection calls. But I defer to the experts on the Forum to advise on that. I found approaching all of this as me being a dutiful daughter who just wanted to make sure my parents wishes and assets were protected worked with minimal push back. That is whatever was left after my Flower Pot brother was done fleecing them. Your brother it seems is co-mingling funds to his advantage and parents detriment. That's elder abuse in most folks books, including your local elected district attorneys office. Remember you are their advocate. I got my paperwork in order and lovingly told my brother that the ponzie scheme was up and he was on notice and any further attempt to rob from parents would land him in jail. Tough love at any age is still love. I am sure others with knowledge can weigh in on this regarding the credit card debt. That is my experience and I hope something can help.
  5. Here, is this better? OH YEA!!! I hope you know YOU are destined for great things! Please start a new thread of your own and tell us where you are at exactly. Use it as your diary and progress log! Did start my own thread a few days back. Only took my a few months to get up the nerve... Used the Master EX address thread script to get my personal info cleaned up. Waiting for hard copies to come in the Mail. doing my research to DV the CA and my follow up to my CRA. I have 2 CO that are past SOL. Only one of the OC is reporting the neg so thats good. I am one of the zillions of people that find this board and say "why didnt I find this sooner..."
  6. I agree with that. Writing something down helps it stick in my brain!
  7. Just keep reading as much as you can and ask questions when you need help. You may of may not have figured out yet that most of the pinned topics are hidden. There's a wealth of information there. The master of master threads will lead you to a lot of other topics as well. OK? So I did kind of figure that out! It may not surprise many, but I am not the best at navigating a board...So yes, I have been sticking the word Master in front of anything I want info on and hit search. And if I see a pinned topic I go there. copying a bunch to folders as well. Any little (or big) search/research hints would be much appreciated though & I will certainly ask for help. Thanks!
  8. That giant picture of that cartoon cats face kind of freaks me out & I am not sure why the pink pony is crying, but this was a great idea! Got to tell you guys that coming out of the shadows was pretty intimidating. I have read for months but still feel totally stupid. Thanks for this thread:) And thanks for all the amazing advice and experience you all share on this board! It has given me hope and allowed me to feel empowered to get out of ridiculous mess that is just f@*&&%ing my world up! Hope you know the good you do is some very important work.
  9. Thank you jasmom! I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier. My bad. No Worries! I am sure you are hip deep in reading (as am I!). So great to follow your journey, I know I am going to learn a lot since we share some issues
  10. Hello there & Welcome! I'm a de-lurked non-newbie as well. Feels so good to put that first post out there, right? I cant wait to follow your progress & learn from your success
  11. I came across this recently! It is cringe-worthy, I've done half of them:( Broke the "don't get on the phone" commandment today. But kept to the Master EX script for deleting addresses. I don't think I taste any foot? and kept my cool...think I am victorious on that round. Any other bits of wisdom/guidance to impart? Thanks for being here!!!!!! I see if I can think of anything. And yes. there are some instances where the phone is the tool of choice. Good work! LOVE that 1,2 punch flow chart btw! Visuals are so my thing (I am a working artist, explains so much about my plight)... Reading and re-reading Psych Docs Credit repair transcripts also...WOW Want to start on first letters to go out whilst I wait for response of calls, yes? Start working on the letters, but I agree wit not sending them or starting the DV process until the personal info disputes are resolved. It extends the time they have to respond,a nd sometimes a dispute gets buried under the others. Patience and determination are paramount. The flow chart is excellent - shows it all so clearly. Keep studying. Having a comprehensive understanding of the process makes success extremely likely. Noted! I will dig into JDB dispute info now and read and re-read... Printed the Flow Chart and put it in the cover sleeve of new JDB dispute research folder. Putting all my kids old school supplies to good use Thanks Breeze, you rock!
  12. To be safe, wait for the official resolution of your address disputes before mailing the new JDB disputes. But yes, definitely start working on the JDB letters now. And post here if you need help. Yes, will do! I will dig in to JDB dispute process reading now. Thanks Tweak691, your support is much appreciated:)
