  1. Thanks for this thread.. It is very informative.
  2. USAA does not give unlimited any more from what I understand. MPM has never signed me up ever. I fill everything out and nothing happens. They seem like a one person company. USAA still has unlimited pulls with their premium (or whatever they termed it) service. It costs a few more $....but that cost can be discounted with a phone call... Do you need to call them and ask for the premium service? I have the one I started with when they first started doing it and that is only one per month now. I didn't care because I had no need then but now I need me some B. What other services are there to use right now?
  3. The book explains how to represent yourself which is what the author did and had $50,000 in loans discharged. Sometimes it is hard to get an attorney because they will tell you it is impossible and, if you do meet the requirements, then you are too destitute to afford an attorney.
  4. Apparantly, some people have been successful in removing student loan debt through bankruptcy. It is covered in the book Bankrupt Your Student Loans and Other Discharge Strategies by Chuck Stewart. The book is available on Amazon and I have purchased and read it. It is really worth buying, IMO. Even if you don't want to do the bankruptcy it offers a lot of other useful advice.
  5. Thanks for the advice. I am going away for a couple of days so I will review it when I come back and see if I have any other questions.
  6. Yes, I had one small government backed student loan over 30 years ago. I also had a small one from the school which was not govt backed. I am sure it is the former. My point was just that I don't know how they can be sure if I am the debtor who owes that debt if they do not have the correct name and it does not appear on my CR. In any case, I will look into the ombudsman. Can the ombudsman help me with it if it has been turned over to a CA at this point in time and the loan was so long ago?
  7. The name on the debt is a different name so they have PP for that name and I am not sure they have proof it is one and the same person. The other name does not appear on any of my CRs since we all delete any other names when beginning credit repair.
  8. Thanks, I should post a thread in the Student Loan Forum to find out my rights. I think they are after attaching my Social Security as I should be signing up for that soon.
  9. Their literature says their DVR has 233 hours of standard recording time or 65 of HD recording time. I get about 200 hours with Time Warner so I would not want to end up with less. What I was wondering is with the DVR can you rewind a program if you have the channel on but want to go back an hour or so? I used to have a Moxie Box with Time Warner where I could go back and forth between two channels and rewind on both. I am trying to find out if that is possible with U-Verse. TW stopped the Moxie boxes and took them all back. The DVR they gave us in exchange is a piece of carp! I could buy my own Moxie box for about $700 -800 and then not have to pay for the rental of both boxes but it is a lot to spend. I have thought about it though.
  10. I have U-verse and have had an overall positive experience. When they first installed their equipment (I live in a brand new apartment) there were issues with some of the connection that caused me to be without cable for 10 days. They took care of the problem and offered $10 dollars a month off for the next year to make up for it. Right now I have U-100, the elite internet, and all movie channels and it is costing only $40 a month (including HD). They also offered to upgrade to U-200 and a DVR for an additional $10. HUH? 50 a month for that? That's amazing... I have U-200, 6 meg internet (elite I think) and home phone...with showtime package for like 154 a month Wow, they quoted me less than that for the U-450 with HBO and Showtime with home phone and internet. They were giving me a little break because I have wireless service with AT&T.
  11. Thanks. I would consider sending them the DV if it wasn't the student loan. I don't have any other outstanding debt that is not past the SOL but I thought it had to be a very old debt or it is the student loan from 30+ years ago. If that is the case, they will have the validation info and I am wondering what would happen next. I don't have the money to make the kind of monthly payments they want when it comes to student loans. They just called my house again this morning and they never leave any kind of message.
  12. If you have old debt lerking out there and they are attempting to collect on one then they most likely have PP. They will argue that they are looking for you so that they can write to you. I would still dispute the inq just to see what they have to say. That is assuming that any old debts are way past SOL! What I am afraid of and what I am beginning to think is that it is about an old student loan which is over 30 years old. It was under a different last name so it got lost in the shuffle but if it is that I do not want to open that can of worms. However, I may have no choice because if that is what it is it will not go away. I have read that Premiere Credit handles student loans and other govt debt which is what is worrying me. So if I dispute with the CRAs then they will contact the CA that I have disputed it and then what can they do?

That sounds like a great deal. I would grab it. Do you get good picture quality? I am interested in how good their DVR is but you don't have one. Maybe someone else can answer that?
  14. My son has Verizon Fios and it works great. I don't know what features you think are lacking?
