Thanks everybody for you help. I hope I NEVER hear from these people again. Just hope they don't report this to the credit bureaus. I found some records and found out that the credit card was last used in 2004. Thanks again

I just called them and told them the SOL in Florida is 5 years and was told no its not that they will go after my Social Security and bank account and take my personal property to collect $1400.00. Also said they are going to ruin my credit.

Got a call today from a business who claims they are a law office, K&N Associates. Said they are representing a credit card company to collect an unpaid credit card from 2016. They called it a civil complaint. I did have a credit card back in 2005 that I couldn't pay due to medical expenses and death in the family. I NEVER received anything from them after 2007. This company says I owe $1400.00 but all they can tell me is the name of the credit card. They do have my SS#, address and phone number. They said I can do payments in the amount of $117,00 for 12 months if I can't pay the entire amount now. If I don't set up payments or pay the entire amount today it will go to court and it will cost me $4000.00. I said to them why haven't you sent me something in the mail regarding this and they claim they did. Never received anything from the them. They want me to give them a credit card today to take out $117.00 each month. What do you guys think about this? My wife is very ill and this is the last thing we need. Thanks

My brother in law was recently involved in a car accident by a drunk driver. He had injuries but not real serious ones. He was driving a 15 year old truck and it was totaled. The driver fled the scene and police arrested her at her home. She was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. My brother in law didn't have full coverage on his truck. Only what was required by law. He got a lawyer. After a few months went by the lawyer said she doesn't have any money so she can only pay you $30.00 per month !! Guess she didn't have full coverage either do to the age of her vehicle. I guess she doesn't own any property either. This doesn't seem right to me. He's out a vehicle, lost work do to his injuries and she only pays $30.00 per month. Even though she didn't have full coverage can't the lawyer go after her insurance company ? What do you guys think ? Thanks

Thanks guys for the replies. She's going to wait at least 6 months before she tries to get approved for another CC. Capital One gave her a $500.00 increase so she is happy about that.

She wants a rewards CC that gives her decent cash back on groceries, gas. etc. She does very little travel outside of the USA. Did a lot of traveling while her husband was still alive. She does go to Hawaii every year to visit family. She pays her credit card balance in full every month to avoid interest. Thanks for the quick reply.

My aunt until 19 months ago never had a credit card. She opened a secured Open Sky account with a $1000.00. 11 months ago she opened a non secured Discover Card with a $3000 limit but gave her 2 increases so now has a $3800.00 limit. 7 months ago she got a non secured Capital One Card. $4200 limit. Her FICO scores average out to 735. No derogs or late payments. She applied for a Chase Freedom Card but was denied because of limited credit. She would like to have 1 more card but doesn't want another denial. What card would you suggest ? She makes $48,000 per year. Thanks

I'm trying to help my sister get some more credit cards. She presently has a Discover Card with $4000.00 limit. She has a secured card with $1000.00 limit. That card was her first CC that she got about 2 years ago. No other cards. She has no derogs of any kind and has 2 Inquires. Between her and her husband they make $72,000 per year. What cards would you suggest ? Thanks

Only first timers ever buy firearms from Gander. They are at least 10 to 15% higher than most shops around here. I don't know where you are but here in Florida, Gander is 3-5% lower on handguns and ammo than other stores in my area. I have purchased 2 handguns from them in the last few months along with plenty of ammo.

This doesn't add up. Where did you get those scores? Agree 100%. Remember the ONLY scores that count are FICO. A charge off and a tax lien that is ONLY 2 years old would NOT give FICO scores that high.

5 Places Where You Should Never Give Your Social Security Number
Vettecor replied to Poor Bastard's topic in Credit Forum
I was helping an elderly friend of mine with paperwork that Social Security needed. EVERY piece of mail that Social Security sent him had his FULL Social Security number on. One time we went into the local SS office. As soon as you walk in there is a machine that you go to sign in. It wants your name, SS number, DOB.. Right next to this machine is a long bench where people sit waiting to be called. The bench is about 1 foot from the machine so the people sitting can watch you put in your total SS number and DOB. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. Totally insane. -
I got an AU card for my wife because she doesn't have any credit cards. The card that arrived in her name has the exact same number on her CC as mine. I have a couple of questions regarding her new card. 1. Do all AU cards have the same CC number as the primary holder's CC ? 2. How long will it take until the CC appears on my wife's credit bureau reports ? She applied for a secured CC last night and we are waiting on the approval. Thank You.
