  1. free capital letters for everyone. i will save them for you. seriously, congratulations!
  2. An extra week would be great! I probably am right on the edge of clearing the slate this month. After this one, I will step off the B* go-round for the rest of the year.
  3. I sent a letter to Total Rewards regarding the poor service from Comenity. I got a reply on May 8. The verbatim response? "Thank you for your feedback on Comenity Bank. I will forward you comments/concerns to Comenity and have someone contact you to resolve your issues." I still haven't heard from Comenity.
  4. I'm glad you got a $1K limit. That's a nice base to help you get other cards at that level. Good luck to you!
  5. Yes. You can perform a soft inquiry on your own report even with a freeze in place.
  6. I applied about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I went back and forth with a series of more than 10 frustrating calls to Citi and never got the same answer twice. They did pull my EX report, said they didn't, had no record of the initial application, encouraged me to submit another application, etc. They finally said that I was denied not for my credit profile, but for submitting multiple applications. That wasn't pleasant to hear and then read since it was based off Citi's own advice. I've been out of town and now I'm too busy at work to really focus on this. I do have it on my calendar to follow up with them to either consider the application based on their initial EX pull or have the inquiry removed entirely. I don't care which they choose, but they have wasted a few hours of my time and I plan to pursue a resolution within the next few days.
  7. I had been away from home for several days and finally received my letter from Comenity. They said they declined me because they could not access EQ on April 9. The problem is that I removed my credit freeze on April 8 and they did perform a hard inquiry on April 9. It definitely was not locked since my two credit unions accessed the report on April 8 without any issue. I made yet another call to Comenity. The first person I spoke with needed to transfer me, which was understandable. The second person repeatedly told me that they could not access the report. Each time, I told them that EQ would not show a hard inquiry unless one was actually performed. I requested to be transferred to someone who would either be able to reconsider the application or have the inquiry removed. The supervisor who answered the call provided the same information. She obviously did not understand the nature and negative impact of a hard inquiry. Once she realized that I knew far more about pulling a credit report than she did, she placed me on an extended hold. At this point, she agreed to have the inquiry removed and send a letter confirming the removal. I'm perfectly content to skip any further interest in this card. The level of knowledge and communication between departments at Comenity was striking. I'm posting this to make you aware of the poor level of professionalism I experienced during these contacts.
  8. I called about status again this morning. They STILL had no details available other than it was "still processing". I almost hope that I don't get it now. Their responsiveness has been abysmal.
  9. Short term - Use the Walmart card if they have a gas station in your neighborhood. They have 15¢ off per gallon through July 7. If you do not have the PenFed 5% card, this is hard to beat.
  10. I can sympathize if the loan is limited to sub-$20k cars for someone who truly needs low payments. However, you know people are doing it to be able to swing payments on some car out of their budget to keep up appearances. The story begins with a perfect example. With a kid on the way, all she needed to focus on was basic transportation.
  11. It felt SO GOOD to cancel Credit One after only seven months. The guy on the phone offered to reduce my APR to 18.99% for six months. Ha! To replace them in one week with prime issuers such as American Express (delivered today), Chase, and NC SECU is great. I need to figure out if I can combine a pathetic $200 secured card from Capital One with their rewards card. I will probably wait until I get the initial Credit Steps increase on the rewards card to at least have a limit containing a comma. I ought to be able to make a product change given the shift in my credit profile. I'm at 730+ with all three agencies now. Credit One still has me listed at a frightening 594. My how times change.
  12. They ran EQ on April 9 and when I called this afternoon, they still had no status either way. The person I spoke with said it was "processing". I've received physical cards quicker than this. Also, I did post on Total Rewards' Facebook page. I referenced how much Caesars has put into promotion and that the vendor is clearly not up to the task. This is the end of the second week, so there's no excuse about things now.
  13. Refreshed to see FICO as of April 12: 769 I'm almost in disbelief. This is fantastic!
