  1. Yep and it's getting old. Refunds should be in order.
  2. In the long run, you're better off tackling the higher interest/balance cards first. Your score will improve eventually anyways but you will saving money and getting a better grip on your finances as a result.
  3. I don't think they combine. But it'd be great to combine my Total Rewards and Virgin to a 30K Comenity super card. The thought of a Comenity super anything is pretty funny.
  4. Situation seems dire. Hopefully Amex can turn it around quickly. There is still a lot of cache in the Amex brand.
  5. Just use your credit card as if it were a debit card. If you don't have the $$ in the bank, you don't buy. ^ This
  6. I use it credit like cash as well-PIF, never carry balances. Get rewards/miles which cash can never give.
  7. Is that a thing you can do with the card or the reason the card is useless? I'm a little slow on the uptake. Maybe I should clarify my request. Why would getting this card be a setback to my credit progress. Konrad's just saying that discounted gift cards for most retailers are available for purchase online that usually far exceed the discounts offered by spending on the branded credit card. Look at places like giftcardgranny.com and cash back portals. You are better off to focus on bank issued cards and put the spending on those. Sometimes it's worth it but more often than not the discounts offered by store cards can easily be beat with a little strategy. You can discount a lot of your every day spend this way by finding discounted gift cards for gas, groceries, clothes, etc. Then putting this spend on your bank issued card, whoever that may be, shows good usage which usually helps make the case for CLI requests. Look at it as building the cards/limits you already have vs. grabbing a one time discount and taking the inquiry and new account hit. A lot to think about...... Better long term strategy-well said Nate!
  8. I'm thrilled to see a thread started by Hegemony! I've been a silent admirer for sometime. I've haven't used cash in years and don't see it used much here in the Palm Springs area. Why would anyone want the bother?
  9. Still down for me as well.
  10. Denied. Hopefully another offer will come along later in the year...
  11. Damn it - not my Von's!!!! Hope Stater Bros stays good. Why???
  12. Just tried to access CreditSecure and it's still down.
  13. Good ol' deer pee. This thread reminded me to push a payment through to make it report. Been awhile since it's seen daylight.
  14. App'd - approved last week for the BCE and PRG. Application is pending...I feel a denial.
  15. I believe this is the thread: https://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=471672&page=10 Go to the last page.
  16. Just got my statement credit for $50 on this GC. Still waiting on the 2nd credit - Nice!
  17. Back door numbers - go to the last pages and scroll down to find Citi: https://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=447943&page=12
  18. I think the VCG limit per card is $500, so you would need to buy 2. No need to load-the purchase is the load. Then take it to Wally for the MO. I go to there for my money orders but there may be other places too - others like Konrad could chime in on that. Then mail the MOs and pay the mortgage or deposit in your bank and pay it.
  19. how do you convert VGC to money order?VGC = visa gift card? thanks. VCG=Visa Gift Card I take the VGCs to Walmart and use them to pay for MO's. Mine Walmart requires going to customer service, can't use the money center machine. It does ask for the pin when you swipe the VGC, just like using a debit card.
  20. Right on! Glad you didn't give up. Do post the recon letter.
  21. Pretty small time here - just getting my feet wet. Did some M$ when I got my Redbird but stopped when they shut down the cc loads. Now I'm trying to clear my spend for my sign up bonuses with VCGs and MO's. Never had a Serve and don't see the point now that they are getting shut down. I want to expand in 2016.
