  1. Thanks. I already have the card, it's just a 4.8k CLI. Just wanted to be certain it wasn't going to be a hard pull since I don't really even need the CLI. I'll take it as a soft pull since it's "free" LOL.
  2. I've already had this Nissan for a while now, never wanted it, but was offered by PenFed from "My Offers", which I accepted about a year ago because I was certain it was a softie. Now it's just a $4.8k CLI. I wanted to be certain it's hot a hard pull since I didn't recognize the "authorization for credit" statement. It's def not worth a hard pull. I'm not worried about the inquiries, my slate is currently clean, I just want to keep it that way.
  3. what do you mean inquiries don't matter? I think I've been gone too long.
  4. Hey guys, It's been a while since I've gotten a PenFed quarterly offer, I don't remember the process from last time. Is this "authorization for credit" normal? Seems like it'll be a hard pull if I accept by the terms? Is this normal, or has something changed over the years? Authorization For Credit By clicking the Submit Application/Continue button below, I certify all statements herein are true and complete and are submitted for the purpose of inducing you to extend credit to me. I expressly authorize any person, credit reporting agency, partnership, association, firm, corporation or personnel office or officer, upon your request, to furnish you a credit report or other information concerning me relevant to the review and evaluation of this application or any subsequent re-evaluation thereof. If there is a co-applicant on this loan, I certify that the co-applicant I have provided has agreed to be a responsible party on this loan and has authorized me to give Pentagon Federal permission to acquire a credit report on him/her. I understand that the rate on my loan will be the rate that is effective at the time the loan is disbursed and this may be different from the rate in effect at the time of application submission. If applying for a credit card, I agree that if I use the Pentagon Federal Credit Union credit card or authorize its use or do not cancel my credit card account within 30 days after the card is received, the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Card Holder Agreement provided with the card will be binding on me. I authorize a security interest in the Pentagon Federal share account listed above and in any other Pentagon Federal accounts I may have up to the amount of my outstanding balance to protect Pentagon Federal if I default on any credit extended or cash advanced under my credit account(s).
  5. I owe some money to DFS, it goes back about 4 years. I keep getting notice in the mail from collection agencies from time to time, but it doesn't show up on my credit report because some information is wrong apparently and they can't pinpoint who I am. There were a few times it showed up on my Experian, and I disputed it as "not mine", and it went away because it does not match my personal information. Recently I've been getting this email from Dell Financial Services: DFS Online Unsuccessful Login Attempt Dear DFS Customer, Thank you for choosing to manage your DFS account online. Our security systems registered an unsuccessful attempt to access your DFS online profile today. Because the login process was not completed, the user was unable to gain access to your account information. At this time, we have not taken any action regarding your profile, and you can access it as usual. However, if this activity is suspicious to you, we recommend you take the following precautions: Login to your profile at www.dell.com/dfs Access 'My Profile' and change your password If necessary, edit your Security Questions If you have further questions or concerns, please contact our Customer Support Team. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate your business. This has happened about 3 days in a row, someone has tried to log into my DFS account. I don't even remember the login information myself, I haven't even visited their website in over 5 years. Could it be some shady collection agency trying to access my account to see my personal information? Or can it be some kind of trick to get me to log in, which will show up as "new activity" and restart collection efforts? Any help is appreciated. Thank you
  6. I don't actually, I'm not a full member of USAA, just partial (non-military). But thank for your the suggestion.
  7. Thank you very much for the extremely informative reply, I really appreciate it! God bless you!
  8. Hey guys,I would like some advice please. I'm 30 years old, I make 50k annually. My current rent for a 1 bedroom apartment in the NYC metro area is $1,229.00 monthly, typical market rate. It seems that I would be able to buy a condo or a co-op, and the mortgage and monthly maintenance fee would be cheaper than my current rent. For example, by looking at the online mortgage calculators, I see that a mortgage of $85,000 mortgage at 4% interest- 30 years, would come to $406/month. So if the condo or co-op I buy has a monthly maintenance fee of $700, than that would make my total housing payment $1106. It would be even cheaper if find a cheaper condo, say for $60,000 at 4% for 30 years, would come to $286 a month, with same maintenance fee that would be a total of $986 a month for something that I will own, way cheaper than current rent. Am I missing something? My credit scores are excellent, nothing negative (thanks CB), 760's=770's. (unless the cockroaches come out when I do a pre-qualify). I do however have about $15k in credit card debt, and my other obligation is a car lease at $335/month, 3rd month of a 36 month lease. I have 13 pulls on EX, 1 on EQ, and 3 on TU. I've put a screenshot of my credit profile from USAA just to give you guys a general idea. This would be my first time buying a house, I have $10,000 in a 401k that I will use as a down payment if needed. I was thinking about taking advantage of a down payment assistance program that I would qualify for from the city, I don't have the details yet as I haven't looked into yet completely. I don't know if I'm ready to take this step, or if I would even qualify for a decent mortgage. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!
  9. I applied for the elite visa card back in January which has a $25k limit. They countered at $15k for the non-elite visa, which I took. Fast forward to today, I got an alert by my credit monitoring services for an inquiry that was run on my EX report, which was very strange. I checked my credit report and there were 2 hard pulls from UNFCU, one from today, and another from yesterday. I didn't apply for anything, so I called them and had the Fraud Investigator look into it. She called me back and said that the company who processes the paperwork for them, made a mistake and instead of checking recent applicants, everyone who applied for their visa card this entire year had their credit report pulled automatically. She said the loan department is aware of the problem, and they will try to remove the 2 hard pulls from my Experian. She said in my case, it was a request to upgrade my card from the regular visa to the elite visa, which I did not request at all. I asked why they didn't do a soft pull, she had no answers. Did this happen to anyone else? epic failure on their part and epic failure on my part for not keeping EX on ice.
  10. Why have you not hit the luv button every few months? The only two cards that we never/rarely use are the deer pee and Reeds card and we always get an increase, 2-3 times per year. The DW wears out the VS and J crew card and we have gotten a CLI whenever hitting the button. DW VS card is around 4.8k and JC is not far behind I did not make the mistake and go out and apply for a lot of credit cards for large people, which Comenity has plenty. I would purchase and return to show use, if you can, and hit the button. good luck I tried about a year ago, but they denied me because there was no activity on the card
  11. I have about 10 b.s. cards I opened using the shopping cart trick 2 years ago. They all have $250 limits, and I've never used them. I regret opening them. I don't want to take the AAOA hit by closing them at this point.
  12. Sorry if this was posted before, I did a search but couldn't find a matching thread. I logged into my Walmart Discover account and saw this message (screenshot below). I wonder if this will cancel out the free FICO score from Walmart
  13. It showed me the new CLI before I entered in my income, it's like they already decided to give me the $17k.
  14. I just got this same offer except it was for my Chase Amazon Visa, it went from $7,000 to $17,000. I would have much rather gotten increase on my Freedom Visa, which only has a $1,000 CLI but I'm not complaining
  15. I had an email from Chase regarding my Amazon Visa card offering me a CLI, without any pulls. I've had it open for less than 6 months, with a credit line of $7,000 I clicked on the link, which made me log into my Chase account and they were offering me $17,000 without any inquiries. Only thing I had to do was enter my income. The increase was available instantly. I'm kinda shocked. Why $17k, I dunno I also have a $17k Chase Sapphire Preferred with them so I guess they matched my highest limit? That card is about 7 months old. Screenshot attached. I've been upset with Chase for a few days now, I had disputed a charge with a merchant and they wasted my time for 2 months asking for all kinds of documentation and then they denied my claim, but that's another story.
