  1. For everyday purchases, Priceline Visa. 2% cashback on every purchase.
  2. Depending on your spending habits, it's also easy to say Discover could be SUPERIOR to the Citi Forward. It is a true cashback card, not points, which on its own are valued less than 1 cent. Also, besides just the rotating categories, there is unlimited cashback when you shop at certain retailers through ShopDiscover. I get 5-20% back on pretty much all my online shopping. Citi Forward is a great card in its own right. You always want a diversified credit card mix. No one card is King. You should use them to compliment each other, so definitely hold onto the Forward and app for the Discover if you think it will be useful to you.
  3. I too need to garden... its easy to relapse when your scores start to increase and you know you have a good chance at approval for cards you once had no shot at. In my case, the only other lenders I want cards from despise BK's so I have lost my desire to app for another year or 2.
  4. Closing accounts is not an option for me... I was fortunate to not need many rebuilder cards. All my cards are prime and/or decent CL and/or rewards. Which issuers gave you grief if you don't mind me asking? Nationwide Visa, Sallie Mae, and ELFCU cc denied me because too many opened accounts. Not asking for any CLI. I rarely closed any of my accounts except Cap1. It is because I need a prime card from them. It doesn't cost me anything to keep it open. I use it once or twice to keep it active. Do you really need that CLI? Is it a very good card? Ron. Not so much the CL I seek at the moment but the upgrade to the rewards card (well, I guess that would go hand in hand) that would fill a nice gap for me. I figure to give it some time and see if they take good payment history and increased FICO into consideration next year. Yea, I'm pretty patient. Have you thought to apply for another credit card from other issuers? How's your credit profile? Ron. The next cards on my Wanted List are heavy-hitters: Penfed, Citi, Chase, AMEX... have a long wait to go for those, atleast until my IIBs fall off. I will grow the cards I have as I am probably maxed out on the rewards cards I can get for now. Only others that interest me are Nordstrom, Saks, SDFCU EMV, and Alliant but not enough to app at the moment.

  6. This was a very conservative CU so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. But you bring up a good point because my AAOA of open CC accounts is pretty short and I did have some balances... I think that probably contributed a bit. I will try next year with more age, fewer inquires and <10% utilization.

  8. Do you have the store card or the world elite mastercard? The WEMC used to come with airport lounge access. Not sure if that still exists but if it does, you might want to hold onto it.
  9. Was recently approved for an oddball CU cc I've had my eye on. Approved with a lower limit than I would have liked. Spoke to the loan specialist to see how long it would take to possibly increase my limit. She said "you have too many open credit cards!" I didn't even know how to respond to this other than I am rebuilding and also like to take advantage of various rewards. At the time I only had 8 open credit cards reporting. In a few weeks that will be 10. hehehe! She said I should close 3 and I could try back to upgrade card in a year. There ain't a chance that's going to happen. I know you CBer's have wayyyyy more cards than I do and was wondering how often do you run into this issue when applying for cards and what's the best response in that situation? I know I am higher risk because of my BK so that could also play a role whereas those with clean records maybe never run into this problem... who knows.
  10. http://www.creditcardwatcher.com/cap-one-credit-cards-earn-extra-5-bonus-points-per-dollar-on-purchases-of-60-or-more-at-trader-joes/ until July 1st..... purchase must be over $60
  11. Used Merrick myself during my rebuilding.. $36 annual fee charged monthly.. it served its purpose, no need for it any longer.
  12. I just joined earlier this month with a savings... approved for CC but no FICO invitation yet. Some have said to make a charge on the card 1st... will find out when card arrives.
