  2. Thanks for you input. I have read the Newbie section several times over. Maybe I misinterpreted some information somewhere. It can be confusing being as thought there is a wealth of information here. I also have the option of bk... so all is not lost. Also, if I have made a mistake somewhere along the lines... I'll just let is ride and try again. I will not give up. Even if I have to settle. Whelp! I tried!
  3. Ok. I sent disputes to CRA on 03/05/2011. So far I've gotten back 3 responses asking for payment! Hmmm. The first response I got back is from Protas, Spivok & Collins, LLC regarding creditor Merriman Inverstments, LLC-.... I don't even know who these people are. Besides, they used my maiden name in which I haven't used in over 6 yrs, so I know that they are out of SOL. I'll just send a nice DV letter and tell them to go away. Now the next issue is from CBE Group regarding Verizon. It says that I owe $180.48. I will send a DV to them and wait for response. They even copied, what appears to be a statement from Verizon. I know its still within SOL... I'm not sure if I should pay them or not. I discontinued that service... I have no idea what those charges are for. Last, but not least is from our good friend, Hunter Warfield, for an apartment complex. FYI its within SOL. The original bill is $6025.69 but are willing to settle for $3,183.22. I will send them a DV but I heard in the past that HW will send a copy of the lease which is not complete validation... I am prepared to battle with these folks, I'm just looking for guidance from those who have experienced them. Any suggestions as to how I should proceed. I heard in validations letters, less is more. I know that WhyChat has a great letter. Should I mimick something like his?
  4. I'm glad I found this board before trying LL. A friend recommended them to me, but I'm all about do-it yourself! I should have educated myself regarding debt, credit, credit reports and more! I'm glad to know that it's never to late. I say.. live and learn from your mistakes. You've now experienced LL.. so know to never go back. Its nothing that you can't fix yourself.

  6. Ha Ha Ha! . I'll take it. My bank may be upset, but whatever... its cash!
  7. Thanks! That is very comforting to know. I realize that I already have a low score.. but dang, I didn't expect it to drop 6ft below.... I actually hope to gain some then more. I tried diputing all the baddies, leaving the good ones. We'll see!
  8. It looks like they only pulled TU according to the alert that I receied today!
  9. I have baddies, lates and collections. I'm not sure as to what you mean by a thin file.. it didn't look thin to me. I am just focusing on cleaining... thanks. Thanks for the insight.... Also.... what jack1212 said... Scores fluctuate all the time while working on credit repair. Focus on getting a clean report, then you can worry about maximizing your score. Yes, I've recently learned. I will just focus on cleaning for the next couple of months. Thank you all!
  10. Hi All, Just to bring you up to speed... On March 5, 2011, I mailed dispute letters to CRA. I received two correspondences from two creditors. The first is from CBE Group regarding Verizon. They even tries to be funny a copy what appears to be a bill from them in the letter. It has an account number and date. I've done research on the board and I'm sending them a DV letter. So hopefully, that should take care of them. My concern is from the other collector.... Protas, Spivok & Collins, LLC. From what I gathered searching on the internet is that it's a Law Firm Collection Agency. Here is the link: PSC. The question that I have is that the letter is addressed in my maiden name. I have been married for almost 6 yrs and have not used my maiden name since. My guess is that this is an old debt that someone is trying to collect on. The letter simply says: Re: Creditor Merriman Investments, LLC Our File No: XXXXXXXX Claim Amount: $932.07 Dear : This firm represents the above named creditor who has placed this matter with our office for collection. At this time, no attorney with this firm has personnaly reviewed the particular circumstances of your account. If the account is not in dispute, your payment in full should be made payable to the above named creditor and mailed to this office. If you are unable to pay the balance due in full, but would like to make payment arrangements, please contact our office with a proposed repayment plan. As of the date of this letter, our client's record relect that you owe an unpaid balance of $932.07. Because of interest, late charges, and other charges that may vary fromday to day, the amount due on the day you pay may be greater. Hence, if you pay the amount shown above, an adjustment may be necessary after we receive your check, in which event we will inform you before depositing the check for collection. For furthe rinformation, write the undersigned or call the phone number listed above. Unliess you notify this office within 30days after receiving this notice that you dispute the validity of the debt or any portion thereof, this office will assume this debt is valid. If you notify this office in wiritng within 30days from reciving notice, this office will obtain verification of the debt or obtain a copy of a judgment and mail you a copy of such judgment or verification. If you request in wiriting, within 30days after reciving this notice, this office will provide you with the name and address of the original creidtor, if different from the current creditor. Federal law requires that I inform you that this communication is from a debt collector and this is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose. Written communications should be mailed to the above address and reference our file number which is indicated above on any such correspondence. Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Larry Klein at ext 3642 or Paul King at extension 3603. Now what kind of fool do they think I am... first off, I will never call them! Second.. please pay attention to the bolded.... I asked myself.. well why the heck did you send me this bogus stuff if you haven't even looked at what's on your desk... Oh yeah! Prove it? I am sending DV tomorrow... I just wanted to confirm if I should send it back with my married name or my maiden name (same name its the letter is addressed to)? Any suggestions. This has to be something dirt old!
  11. :yahoo: Kudos for you... I'm so happy for you! WTG
  12. Don't pull during a dispute, you'll get an oddball score. Also, baddies can help your score after awhile. If it's your oldest account, you'll definitely see an impact. They're factored into your AAOA and credit history. Thanks alot... that makes so much sense. So the score reflecting.. just may not be accurate as of yet due to disputes... I got it!
