  1. There's growing chatter here as of late about the flurry of 1099-c forms going out to (former) debtors. Before the threads go in a hundred different directions, I was hoping we could wrangle all the questions and answers into one thread or perhaps one of the board gurus can slap together a Master Thread. I ask this not only in the spirit of altruism (so that future generations can find a central repository for our knowledge and not go nuts as we all did in the past looking in 100 places for one answer to one question), but also for personal reasons... The gurus here helped me fix up my wif
  2. So here's an update on my Credit Union Application experience which began about a month ago (details ^^^up there^^^). MCU, with whom I was already a member, gave me a $6,000 Gold Card like they were giving away candy. 4.9% rate on purchases for 6 months and balance transfers. ELFCU couldn't verify that I was me (never had this problem before) so they would not even open an account after I spent 5 clams signing up for that stupid TruDirection. I think my address on one of my bureaus erroneously showed an apartment number which didn't match up with the non-apartment address I used to apply (
  3. How about a price comparison breakdown as part of this thread (or maybe Bob can whip up a Master Price-Comparison Thread) since if we're talking "the best" then price has to factor into that decision also? It would be helpful to get updated pricing not only for tri-pullers but single-pullers for those engaged in B*. Speaking of which, my Smart Credit and Equifax Complete Advantage 30-day trials are about to expire so I'm debating whether to extend while finishing off my B* or move to the competition. Since right now I'm only interested in B* and not necessarily the bestest-in-the-whole-wor
  4. WARNING WARNING WARNING :warning: :warning: :warning: :warning: :warning: WARNING WARNING WARNING I may have just figured out the problem...and I'm not sure if anyone else is having/has had this problem or if it's just me...after typing the link again in the ^^^last post^^^, I clicked on it and it did not take me to the Tim Conway Jr. page. And keep in mind, my browser history was clean, my browser cache did not have the full price page in it. Therefore, Im guessing: Apparently SMARTCREDIT.COM IS READING YOUR COOKIES AND IF YOU ARE COMING FROM CREDITBOARDS.COM IT REDIRECTS YOU T
  5. Hey Melikey, you may want to redact that last statement--or even retract it, LOL. The link in the original post points to the REGULAR SCP sign-up, NOT the Tim Conway Jr. discounted page, that was the purpose of my comment--the fact that you mention the Tim Conway Jr. link but didn't acctually link to it. No worries, I found it...and if you want to corrent the link in the OP, it should point to smartcredit.com/tim. Thanks for the original post though, and for truncating pages and pages of B* knowledge into one cheat sheet.
  6. Never mind...I found it. I searched "Tim Conway" across all credit forums but could not find the promo that melikey was talking about (that's when I made the above post asking for help). I did find a touching post from back in 2008 memorializing Harvey Korman (if you don't know who Harvey Korman is or how he relates to Tim Conway [sr.], then you're too young--go play in traffic). Thinking google might help I searched "tim conway smart credit" and could not find anything similar. So finally I gave up and searched google for "smart credit premium promo" to see if I could find a similarly pri
  7. Errr...Tim Conway Jr. discount link?
  8. Great, great info and links--THANKS!!! Who knew there were all those CUs in NY (Lower East Side Credit Union? For those of you that don't know NYC, part of the LES is called "Alphabet City" and used to be one of the top crime spots in the whole city. I'm picturing financial transactions in an alley behind a dumpster, LOL. Actually, ever since Giuliani in the late 90s, this city has been cleaned up to the point where you can eat off the floors so I'm sure it's legit). All you see on the sides of busses is MCU (they also own MCU park, home to the Brooklyn Cyclones, a Mets farm team). I suppo
  9. TYPO: It should say 30% usage ^^^up there^^^. Maybe subconsciously I am hoping for 10% utilization, LOL>
  10. Hmmm...you got a thing for the feds/mil affiliations. Navy does not use chex - so you won't burn nothing there. All those pulls hard though - all on Equifax FWIW. Add Navy for TU inq as well to verify identity. MCU uses Experian last I knew..? Well, I'm glad you brought up the credit pulls--I think I'm not understanding something there. You just implied (as others did in their posts) that CUs pull a report just to open an account with them. Am I understanding that right? Or are you saying that the CUs will do a hard pull when someone actually applies for credit? MCU did not do a
  11. Dont think id join one just for free pulls...
  12. Well up until I ran across all the CU talk I thought I was done getting new credit until Amex calls one day. I have a variety of cards with total of 17k in limits. I have a new acura lease. I'm 717. I guess all the loose cu credit w high limits was making me jealous...it disturbs me a little that I'm jonesing for more credit. Thought I was cured. I was thinking penfed, navy, maybe nasa (just cuz its cool)...eli something-or-other looked good but I read (here) that they are approving lower limits. And I already have mcu so I might apply if credit is as loose with cu's as is being implied.

Getting the best rate... The list goes on.... MCU is good, but their rates could be beat. Yes, CB is definitely the cat's pajamas (glad someone got a chuckle out of that old-timey reference, LOL--and no, I'm not 80, but almost halfway there). I appreciate you saying MCU is good (the rates are OK) but frankly, they are they opposite o
