  1. Utilization's high. We used to pay off every credit card each month before we bought a house. Our house was a fixer upper and it cost a lot before we even moved in to fix up the house and then we had to repair one thing after the other. Recently we had to fork over $3000 to fix collapsed pipes under the concrete in the basement (just to give you an idea). This house is over 50 yrs old and everything was fine with inspection but now this house has become a nightmare. All of our savings went into buying this house so now we're stuck with this massive debt and neverending nightmare.... :-(
  2. DH and I are seeking to consolidate all of our credit card debt into a single payment. We have about $60K in debt. What are some repuatable companies that we can request a loan from for this amt (if there's a company that would give such a high amt)? All of our accounts are current and we're making minimum payments or a little more than min payment. BofA automatically closed both accounts even though we were never late. Please help! Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.
  3. My existing accounts are ok. They didn't steal my current credit card info or anything like that. They used my SSN & personal info and tried to obtain new credit cards from 3 diff CCs and send to their address. Two of the CCs flagged it as suspicious and contacted me & the other couldn't find any new accounts in my name however agreed to remove the hard inquiry. I hope whoever did this to me (and all ID thieves) experiences a painful demise (karma is a you know what & God's watching). The amount of severe stress/anger/fear/helplessness I experienced from dealing with this has take off a few years off my life for sure.
  4. Hi guys. I have posted questions here before when I became a victim of ID theft where someone obtained my SSN & tried to get credit cards in my name. I have done the following: 1) Placed initial fraud alerts w/ all 3 CRAs (for DH too just in case) 2) Submitted a FTC affidavit 3) Filed a police report 4) Placed a credit freeze on all 3 CRAs 5) Placed a fraud alert w/ IRS Now, my initial fraud alert expires on Jan 1. Since I've placed a credit freeze on all 3 reports, do I still need to request an extended fraud alert? Or does the credit freeze basically take care of everything at this point? Also, is there anything else I haven't done that I should do? Thank you all very much for your help! I really appreciate it!
  5. Thank you guys. I actually typed the zip code in wrong...it's 48184.
  6. Can I ask LN to also remove any information they have on my spouse as well even though I'm the victim of ID theft? Thanks guys!
  7. I'm dealing w/ identity theft right now as some of you might know already. One of the credit cards the ID thief tried to get was American Express. The inquiry showed up on my EQ report on the same day as the other two credit cards they tried to get. This is what's showing up on my report: American Express TRS CO, Inc. 4315 S 2700 W Salt Lake City, UT 84148-0001 I tried calling Amex twice and both times the reps told me that they couldn't find anything associated with my SSN or name. I looked on Amex's website & couldn't find this address. I want to send a letter to the address showing under the inquiry but want to make sure that this is legit. Can anyone help? Thank you!
  8. Sorry to bug you guys about this but (1) Does anyone have an opt-out request letter example for Lexis Nexis? (2) I also read the IRS Identity Theft affidavit form, I didn't see any instruction that this had to be signed in front of a notary public. Am I correct? I'm going to do everything by mail. Thank you!!!!! I don't know what I would've done without CB!!!
  9. Just did a search on google and found articles about identity thieves hacking into LexisNexis.... http://arstechnica.com/security/2013/09/how-lexisnexis-and-others-may-have-unwittingly-aided-identity-thieves/ http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/business/report-lexisnexis-servers-were-hacked/nZ63S/ I haven't opted out yet but was trying to do more reading before I did since I'm a victim of identity theft.
  10. Sorry to keep bothering you guys but which one is the correct TransUnion address for their fraud dept? I'm sending a security freeze letter: TransUnion LLC P.O. Box 2000 Chester, PA 19022-2000 OR TransUnion Fraud Victim Assistance Department P. O. Box 6790 Fullerton, CA 92834-6790 Thank you!
  11. Yeah I think I'll have to mail the freeze request to the CRAs and opt out of LN by mail. Thanks again!
  12. road2freedom, Can I place security freezes by mail? What information would they need? Also do I need to send the request to all 3 bureaus? Can it be done over the phone? I do have a police report #. Also I would like to opt out of LN, should I do this via mail? And even though we haven't found anything suspicious on DH's CR, can he opt out too? Thank you!
  13. Dealing with identity theft right now and I placed a fraud alert on my reports. I thought fraud alert was the same thing as freezing CRs. How do I freeze my credit reports? Thank you guys!
  14. Try this one guys: RecoveryTeam@afni.com I was honest and explained our hardship situation. Keep it short and to the point.
