  1. I live in Minnesota and they court admin lady searched my name completely on the system and there was no record of anything in my name. She did my old address also. nothing found. They searched the lawyers name and found that he was in their system as a registered lawyer.
  2. So Last month I had posted up about being served from a collection agency. We went to the courthouse and they searched my name and found nothing to do with any judgments against me and they could not even find info on the actual debt collector. So, I sent both the lawyer and the debt collector a DV letter asking for evidence and their license number so forth and over a month now and I have received nothing back at all. The letters were signed for and I have receipt for those. I did a google search and it shows that the lawyer and debt collector are both next door to each other. Something just seems fishy with these people. Plus they use a PO box in a totally different name in a different part of town. Today, I just received a letter from their " lawyer " saying that they are going to try and garnish my wages. Not even any notice to the fact that we sent 2 DV letters to them. Says I have 10 days to make an exemption to this. I think they are a bunch of clowns and I wonder if just not replying would be best?. They seem very shady and wont produce evidence at all or even reply to a DV. Plus the fact that they clearly have not placed a judgment against me is making me just wanna ignore them even more. I am also out of work right now so have no money. Trying to research what to do.
  3. Congrats. While I am also trying to build my credit, I got approved for an Orchard Bank CC and i started with a $300 limit. They increased it last month for being a good customer. I use mine often. So that was a welcome notice for me. I have yet to experience hidden fee's. I hope that does not happen. Though they do bug the hell outta me by constantly calling my house, trying to offer me other products.
  4. Our Father died in July this year and just today I got a letter addressed to the" Estate" of our Father. It is for a debt of $573 from Fingerhut that he had. The actual letter is from Philips and Cohen associates and they specialize in deceased account care. It states in the letter the following : " While family members/loved ones are not personally liable for this account or payment, in an effort to assist with an expedited resolution we are authorized to offer the estate or anyone wishing to make payment on behalf of the late "" to settle to account". So they said it themselves, we do not have to pay this and to be honest, we have our own debt problems right now. Do I just ignore these letters or is there someway I can reply to them via letter to get them to stop harassing us with letter's? and to let them know we are not going to pay this debt. Any help would be great.

  6. She seen an ad for 5 dvds for a certain price and she joined. Then when move to a new home and had our first baby last year and she just simply forgot about the membership. they never sent a monthly dvd or even a magazine of their movies. Then this turned up yesterday from a CA. She never called to cancel or anything, just a simple case of forgot and had so many life things going on.
  7. My wife got a letter yesterday from a CA over a Columbia movie house collection for $49. She did not buy the extra few movies that she had to order to complete her membership. We never received any movies from them and from what i can tell, the money is from the violation of membership fee's. The debt letter says that if we pay $49 right now it will not be reported to her credit reports. Though I do not believe a word from any CA. Should we just pay the $49 or send a DV. From being a member here, I say go with a DV. Any help would be great.
  8. I understand your frustration about the lack of internet during BCT. It sucks, but serves a purpose.
  9. The debt is from August 2008, so is well within the SOL. I would pay for deletion. I am just so pissed that these people can screw our reports without even sending me a damn letter or contacting me at all. Perhaps I shall remove the lawsuit stuff. I feel like seeking legal advice since they do not reply to me.
  10. Hi. I had a negative account pop up on my credit reports back in July and have never ever received any letter or phone calls or anything from the CA. So after being here and reading lots,, I sent a DV letter. No 40 days ago and they never replied or anything. So I am sending a follow up DV letter. Here is my sample follow up letter. To whom it may concern This letter is being sent to you as a follow up letter to the original letter I had mailed on / /10 , In which I received no reply. Be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 ( that your claim is disputed and validation is requested. This is NOT a request for “verification†or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above named Title and Section. I respectfully request that your offices provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you. Please provide me with the following: What the money you say I owe is for; Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe; Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe; Identify the original creditor; Show me that you are licensed to collect in the state of Minnesota; Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent; I will also inform you that your offices have reported invalidated information about this account to the 3 major Credit Bureau’s (Equifax, Experian or TransUnion) and this action may constitute fraud under both Federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, I may not hesitate in bringing legal action against you unless this negative account is removed from my credit reports, for the following: Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act Defamation of Character If your offices are able to provide the proper documentation as requested in the following Declaration, I will require at least 30 days to investigate this information and during such time all collection activity must cease and desist. I request that contact be made in writing only via the USPS. I wish to have this issue resolved ASAP, before I am forced to start legal action. Is this letter to long? is it to short?. Is it even any good. I followed a base guide line to an extent and catered it to my needs. I just want rid off this damn negative account on my CR. I would do a PFD,, but this place wont even reply and i sure aint calling them. What they hell can I do beyond this follow up letter?. I am in the military and will be leaving for 6 months in 5 weeks time. So the wife will be left to battle this for me to an extent. Any help would be great, Thank you so much
  11. One thing I have seen first hand in the Army is people not getting in or in big trouble for lying, even about the smallest things. Lying is a defo no no in the Military.
  12. Does anybody here watch the show?. Pretty funny the look on some faces when they see this big bodybuilder coming at them. It is on Monday nights. Actually pretty entertaining and it does give perspective on exactly how dangerous their job really is. Whether people like Repo guys or not, they do a dangerous job. Just a fun show to watch.
  13. I am in the Army and my wife has had terrible credit from before I had met her. We will be living on base come September and nobody has ever mentioned anything negative to me about this. I am new to the military however. They took all our info, did an FBI security background check on my wife as they do for all spouses but they only did a credit pull on myself as I was the one who required a clearance.
  14. I have no idea about the USAF. Though when I joined the Army, about a week after signing contracts and being sworn in at MEP's, an inquiry popped up on my credit report. Said it was from the Gov and it clearly states for Employment purposes on it. I have a collection account for $539 which is currently waiting on a reply to my DV letter. I was asked at MEP's if I had any bad credit and I was honest about that one thing. He asked what I was going to do about it and they let me go on and sign contracts. If you do not like the recruiter, you can always go in person to a different one.
  15. I use to work at Target and they did make us all watch a facetious video on NOT joining a union. It was very explicit in how it would be bad for us and even showed an employee being " let go " because she was late to work. According to that particular situation, they allowed her to be late to work till the union became active at Target. It was the most subtle yet explicit anti union video I have seen. I still have friends who still work there and they have had their hours cut and the 4am team has be moved to 6am to save the extra dollar. I hated that place so bad. Damn you economy.
