I'm Alex and I've just recently started on the path to understanding and managing my credit. I've got my credit reports from Equifax and Transunion and am working on getting the negative areas dealt with as best as possible. The biggest negative I have is an account in collections:

Reported By: Agency Name - EOS CANADA INC, Original Creditor - <Removed for Privacy>

Assigned: May 13, 2013

Reported: Jul 18, 2016

First Date of Delinquency: Dec 14, 2012

Status: blank

Original: 383

Balance: 383

I know what it is and I'm willing to pay it off, but I want to make sure I handle it the best way possible. If I pay this off when will it be removed from my credit report? Does the date get reset? I've tried to find an answer but it feels like there is a lot of contradictory info out there.

Other info that might be important: I haven't made any payments or interacted with anyone about this debt at any point, so I don't think would be any new activity to reset it.

If anyone has any suggestions or needs more info please let me know. I really appreciate any help offered!

Hi everyone,

My very first post. I'm new. English is not my first language, i try my best. Thanks for understanding.

Here's my situation. I made in investment in real estate renovating a house and flipping it. I have a buyer. Might takes couple of months before cash in.

I have visa : 38K debt

another visa : 11k

All my other cc, i never used them.

Recently i learnt that i could transfert the balance to some cc offering 0% financing with 12 month terms. I felt it was great option for me since i can clear up the whole balance in couple of months. MBNA Platinum Plus

I applied online yesterday for Master card 0%. Got accepted but got only 14K limit. Actually, i filled up in the form i want to transfer 38K.

I figured out what was maybe the mistake i made to get a limit lower than what i've asked. Actually, i recall having clicked on 'owner/condo" but then i had to filled up another case asking me about the rent..i found that strange since i'm an owner. I couldnt continue the application process cuz i had to fill up that case about the rent. Because it was late night, instead of writting '0', i put 800$... :/

I'm guessing it might because of that i got lower limit. By the way, i have a good credit score, around 720-740. Never missed a single payment in my whole life.

Anyway, i called the customer service and told them my story. The customer service told me i have 2 options.

First option : They can cancel the whole thing and then apply again but my score might got hit...

Second option : i wait until i get my cc and then i call them to ask them to give me the desire cc line credit. I picked this option. Did i do well?

Now, i'm interested to get the RBC visa cc for the second balance transfer of 11k but afraid this might not help me if i fill up the form now knowing that the credit center might lower my score...

What should i do to transfer the 2 balance to low interest. Ideally all with Master card. Any walk around?

RBC visa with 0.99% / 10 months term will be my other option..but will it be possible to get these 2 products one after another? or should i wait little?

Thanks in advance for advising me. I really need to breath financially right now..

Cheers

Hi All,

Great wealth of information here - I've been lurking for awhile and figured I'd post a question to the community as my google-Freedom Unlimited seems to turn up conflicting answers.

Here's the deal, without getting into a long-winded backstory - there are a number of charged off (R9 accounts) listed on my credit reports as well as corresponding collection items. Based on a 6 year time period, all R9's should be scheduled to purge from my reports within the coming year (2017). However, many of the corresponding collection items are listing dates that range from either slightly different (a couple of months) to massively different (a year or more).

As an example, the following is listed on Equifax regarding an MBNA account:

Original TL:

MBNA - R9 - Balance: $2187. DOLA: 3/30/2011

Collections TLs:

1. CCL Financial on behalf of MBNA - Balance: $4120. Last Payment: 01/2011

2. Veritas Alliance on behalf of MBNA - Balance: $4600. Last Payment: 03/2012

It looks like the MBNA account was originally collected by CCL and then sold off to Veritas Alliance, who is reporting an incorrect Last Payment date, since the debt has not been paid or acknowledged since charge off.

My question of course - Is Veritas Alliance allowed to "re-age" the account? I thought that collection purge dates were supposed to be based on the DOLA of the original debt? If they are indeed reporting it incorrectly, what can I use as proof of the original DOLA for the CRA's? Would a copy of my credit report that shows the DOLA for the original lender suffice? I'm not particularly interested in requesting information from the original lender for fear of restarting the SOL on the debt.

Has anyone else dealt with this kind of issue successfully in the past? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Since the Canadian Forum is looking like a ghost town, I thought I could start a thread that people could update. I'm a credit rebuilder after a horrible 2010. I've finally paid everything off and have one secured card. I want to know what credit cards you've been approved for and what your credit score(s) (TU or E) were. I know a 700 score on either should get me an unsecured card, but how about 680?

What I have learned so far:

Capital One Secured MC - will only give you a card if you've paid off outstanding recent debts.

Home Trust Secured Visa - will accept you with unpaid derogatory accounts/Collections on your credit file (They check Equifax not TransUnion)

Anyone have any successes (or failures) to share?

It was a bad time for me. Actually more of a stupid once using one of my credit cards to live off of. I had let it lapse into collections years ago. another one is bouncing from 2,000-2,500. The bank canceled the second credit card because I was making late payments. So, like to know what it would take to restore my credit by paying these off. I know the damage is done. I want to buy a house in the US. I also had some old loans that were never paid off over 15 years ago. I think federal law is they are wipped off my credit profile. I tried to get a credit check on my self in the states but kept getting back info from a credit reporting agency as "not enough information" no idea what that is.

The end goal is to qualify for a house, a a repair/rehab loan if ....if I go that route or, obtain a loan from a hard money loan company. Other option is to being in a real-estate investor and use there money.

So, what do I need to do next? Also, is there any free credit check agencies online? Does my divorce from my wife show up in my credit report?

Thanks much!!

From RBC's website:

Some U.S. merchants, such as pay-at-the-pump gas stations and self-pay kiosks, often require you to enter a U.S. zip code to complete your transaction. Enter the U.S. zip code associated with your card, or if you have a Canadian address associated with your card, we suggest entering the three digits of your Canadian postal code followed by two zeroes or paying inside.

Greetings,

As I had a previous bad run with 3 CC's that went 'belly up' with R9 listings, will those listings that were posted by collections agencies still be showing up as 'flagged' if I re-apply for new credit? Last check I had made on my credit file showed "no credit/banking information available". All of them were cleared off my file last year (2014).

I have a hard time trying to understand this and would like some clarification in regards to this issue.

Hello all,

Having seen many sites that mainly focus on US based credit help, I recently decided to start a Forum site dedicated to solely Canadians, and the credit system that is !#$ing canadians. Having gone through many experiences with Equifax, TransUnion, OBSI, Ombudsmans, The Office of the Privacy Comissioner, Consumer Protection Ontario, etc - I am hoping to help others fight non-consented inquiries and inquiry removal (very hard in Canada). Apparently in the US you can put a shield around your credit by blocking inquiries??? Not in Canada. It's a free for all. I've been fighting the credit bureaus here in Canada for the past several years and have been victorious in all cases but one (due to my error).

I want to welcome any Canadians looking for credit advice/help with their credit to visit my forum, yourcreditreport.proboards.com if they are not finding what they are looking for here or simply want other resources to look at. I will also participate on this forum as I can see it's well established, and I hope they don't mind my plug

I'm very experienced with Equifax if anyone is looking for advice here or on my own forum. Hoping to help other Canadians. Thanks in advance to the moderator for allowing my post.

BACKGROUND. I assume I have had good credit over the years because I didn’t have trouble getting financing for mortgage, credit cards, etc. in my home country (Quebec/Canada) where I have a credit record stretching back over 20 years. I’m a Canadian but now live in Asia. I own an investment property in Canada and would like buy some more, which will require mortgage financing.

SCORES. I had two small ($400) bills I didn’t pay before leaving Canada that have since been sent to collection. I was nervous about the impact of this on my ability to get financing so I signed up for both Equifax Complete Advantage Plan and TransUnion Credit Monitoring and got my reports and scores. I was shocked to find out my scores are very low (Equifax 624; TransUnion 598). I’m assuming this is because of the collection issue since all other accounts are up-to-date and 99% paid on time. Equifax lists 5 open accounts including my current mortgage, while TransUnion lists 13 open accounts, 9 closed accounts, and 4 derogatory accounts. For some reason TransUnion does not list my mortgage.

DETAILS. I owed VISA Desjardins $491 in 2012 which as passed to Echo Collection. The Equifax entry under VISA Desjardins this is described as “Written-off.” It is not listed as in Equifax under Collections. In TransUnion the comments are “[bad Debt Write Off]|[Amt In High Credit Column (Disp 122-130 of Trade Segment) Is Credit Limit]” and it appears again under Echo Collection. This account I basically forgot to pay and was not reminded because I was overseas and could not be reached.

I also owed Fido $386 since 2012 which is listed in Equifax as “Acct assigned to third party for collection. Closed by credit grantor” and again Collection Account with CollectCents. Same basic story for TransUnion. I had a disagreement about this account with Fido. They wanted me to pay out the contract, even though I wasn’t around to use the service. They won’t budge on this at all so I said fine, I just won’t pay. That was probably a mistake.

Plus for some reason my recent mortgage only appears in Equifax, not in TransUnion.

QUESTIONS.

What’s the best way to improve my credit score quickly? I want to apply for financing in the next month. I don’t mind paying these amounts. Although paying less that the full amounts would be great, my priority is getting my credit worthiness up fast. If I have to pay in full, so be it. But of course I don’t want to pay in full if it makes no difference. Should I try a Pay for Delete letter? If so, do I approach the original biller or the collection agency? In some cases, both have entries in my record.

I get this on some of my credit cards: “[Amt In High Credit Column (Disp 122-130 of Trade Segment) Is Credit Limit].” Is this a bad thing?

Why is my mortgage appearing in Equifax and not TransUnion? Does it matter? If it does, how do I get it listed in TransUnion?

Any advice you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Interesting, in that Royal Bank of Canada sold their U.S. operations on the east coast (RBC Bank) to PNC Bank a few years ago. Now RBC buys City National. I wonder if City National will eventually change their name to RBC. The announcement says no, but it could still be a possibility. There's also their RBC Bank internet bank, mainly for Canadian customers who need a U.S. bank account. I wonder if that will be merged into the new City National Bank.

City National to merge with Royal Bank of Canada

I write to you this morning with some important news. City National has entered into an agreement to merge with Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), the premier financial services company in Canada. A news release was issued today and a copy is available at cnb.com.

This merger, which is subject to customary closing conditions, will be good for you, for City National and for all of our clients, colleagues, communities, and shareholders. Upon completion, City National will be backed by the resources and capabilities of one of the largest and safest banks in the world, which will enable us to provide you with even better service and broader banking and wealth management capabilities.

RBC is the world's 12th largest bank, operating in 40 countries around the globe. The company has $941 billion (CAD) in assets. Its U.S. presence today is comprised largely of wealth management and capital markets businesses. RBC wanted to add a private and business bank to that portfolio to grow here in the U.S.

Under terms of the agreement, City National will continue to operate as a U.S. bank headquartered in Los Angeles. I will remain Chairman and CEO, and I'll be responsible for both the bank and RBC's U.S. Wealth Management unit, which administers more than $260 billion (USD) in assets for about 340,000 American households.

Upon completion, City National will continue to operate as it does today - with its current management team and, for now, under its own brand. We do not expect significant job reductions as a result of this acquisition. Your bankers will remain here, doing what they do so well for you.

The combination of our two companies will be a great fit. Both are highly regarded institutions with reputations for outstanding client service and integrity. RBC's management is committed to supporting City National's continued success as America's Premier Private and Business Bank®, including its wealth management businesses. They understand and appreciate the uniqueness of City National's client-centric value proposition and strong service commitment to providing complete financial solutions to our clients.

This is an exciting opportunity for all of us at City National and an important step forward as we look to grow and constantly improve the service, capabilities, and resources we provide to our valued clients. Our future is brighter than ever as we continue our journey along with you on The way up®.

There is no need for you to do anything differently. The merger is not expected to close until the fourth quarter of calendar year 2015. If you do have any questions, your bankers and advisors, as well as I, would be happy to answer them.

I truly believe this will benefit all of our clients, and I thank you for placing your trust and your business with City National.

Hello - I'm new to the creditboards forum. I've been doing alot of reading the past few weeks and finally decided to sign up.

I recently signed up for both Transunion (645) and Equifax (639) to see where my credit score currently sits. Long story short i was careless with my money a few years back when i was in school and neglected to pay one of my credit cards. It got sent to collections but i ended up paying what i though was the full balance to Presidents Choice back in 2011. On my Transunion report there shows no balance against the the card, whereas Equifax shows a balance below of $322.00.

Equifax report below.

PRESIDENTS CHOICE MC

Now i ended up calling Presidents choice and asking about balance and what it was seeing as i thought i paid off the full balance, i thought wrong. Anyways, i was a little surprised as they havent tried to contact me at all in 4 years since i paid what i though was the balance. Doesnt that seem a little odd? Anyways, i gave them my phone number and they said they would assign it to a collections agency. I'm fully able to pay off the balance with the collections agency, my only concern is that the DOLA is 2010-04, which means it will purge by 2016. If i pay the collections agency will that change my DOLA to 2015-01 and thus push the purging to 2021?

Not sure what to do here...Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

When I was young and stupid I racked up a Telus bill and didn't pay, it's snowballed up to $5XX something, a bunch of collection notices later.......Now I get a offer of 78% off settlement for $1XX something.

Now this is from years ago like 2007-2009, I cant remember exact.

But I've been told that after a 6 year period of collection debt it's past some sort of statue of limitation. And the debt is wiped off, the collector can't legally collect anymore, the record is cleared from your credit report. So you still have bad credit but it doesn't show the collections? I'm not too sure on this and need some advice.

78% seems like a high offer, I have a feeling I'm nearing that point of no return, I'm about to order my credit report but it takes like 4 weeks to come in the mail, I want to but can't get the instant one because I don't have a credit card under my name (mandatory) even though I have the money to pay for the purchase.

The offer is valid for a week.

So I'm stuck with a decision here....

Will it be better to pay and have that on my report for the next 6-7 yrs or to let it wipe?

If I did let it wipe, then what does my credit rating stay damaged or does it go back to the beginning?

Hello all!

I, like some of you, have made mistakes in my younger past that I've been working on cleaning up. A few years ago I had a new car and didn't make enough money. My eyes were bigger than my wallet. The car got repo'd, auctioned and all that. I have been paying off the car loan to a collection agency that is a third party to Scotia.

This is what is on Equifax regarding it. The collection agency called me yesterday and said that Scotia offered me a settlement on it since it's owing around $5500. They offered something I could probably handle $2500.

My questions are, why isn't the collection agency showing up on equifax, and is taking a settlement worse than just continuing to pay it off slowly? It could take another 2-3 years to pay it off at the rate I'm going with everything else. I've seen that a settlement is nearly as bad as filing for bankruptcy.

Also, I have a debt with BMO,

As you can see, the date of last activity is 2009-12. I'm inclined to let that lapse because by next December if I understand correctly, it will be gone from my credit report never to return as long as I don't acknowledge the debt or make payments. Obviously this would prevent me from doing future business with BMO until that's paid off, but am I correct in assuming that once it's gone from my report, even if it's unpaid, my credit score will go up?

Hello Credit boards, i have started my credit repair journey a couple months ago because i have a credit score of 489 and have read the psychdoc's document for beginners, numerous boards on here and reddit and have even sent some letters off. However, between reading American advice and trying to apply it to my own situation, i am getting lost in deciding what to do about a few very sore spots on my reports that are holding me back immensly. I was wondering if anyone could help?

I have two R9 charged off credit cards on my CR's with EX and TU.
As you can see my older Capital One card will fall off in june 2015, as it is 6 years in Canada correct? I have thought about waiting for it to fall off, but i have also read about requesting early obsolete deletions. My Visa with RBC still has 2 years left.

Here are some details about what i have done and what is on my account as far as names and addresses are concerned, because im hoping maybe i can clean these up on a technicality?

I have got my address deleted that is associated with my Capital One account.

Both Cards were taken out under a first name that i have since changed the spelling of legally, however the CRA, have my alias listed. I can't do anything with that im assuming.

I have sent a DV to the CA who currently has my RBC Visa and they responded with a copy of my signature and a few bill statements. I'm not sure my next move.

I also had a collection account that i have negotiated a PFD which i have read is harder to do in Canada, and that i probably will not find any success even asking the OC's on my charge off's for this.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME, i'm not sure what my next move should be? All i want is these things removed from my reports.

Hey everyone!

There doesn't seem to be too much discussion in the Canadian section but I was hoping some of you might have the answer to Authorized Users in Canada and if they report. Someone told me on Reddit that they think no credit cards in Canada report, but they aren't sure. Can someone comment on experience if they have, or list the ones that for sure do not?

Capital One Canada states in its FAQ section that they do NOT report, which is a bummer to me. The US partners do.

Hey there!

I was referred to this forum by a friend, and after reading through most of the stickied posts around the place I got a good understanding of some of the laws regarding credit reporting but need some clarification.
I was told that it was 6 years from the date last reported for collections / debt accounts, not last activity. If it was last activity / first delinquent date, I should be hitting the 6 years very shortly, so im not sure what to do here as last reported dates are mostly 2014.

Other than that, I would appreciate any advice to help build back up my credit. I am currently a student, and have limited means of generating income (am on government assistance because of a disability, but not full disability support so not much money per month). I might have $100 a month after saving towards tuition to pay off some debt.

I have ~$12000 total (after interest built up) in outstanding debt from a few years back.. was wondering the best course of action. There are various accounts so I have made a JPG and hosted a link if you wanted to check it over..

Here is the link for my credit info: http://imgur.com/dYLpF27

I don't NEED my credit at all right now, I use cash for everything, but I need to start working on it before it gets too late as I will be looking to purchase a home within the next 5-10 years. I graduate in 1.5 years and can start paying off major chunks of this if needed.

Thanks for any assistance!

PS. Sorry for posting a request like this as my first post, been reading a while, but could use some input from others around here.

MY boyfriend is looking at applying for the Cap1 aspire travel world MC and right now they have a $75 cash back on it. It's free to sign up too, and they actually give you 2$ in your account. You can either get paid monthly by amazon gift card, pay pal or wait for a big cheque.
Hey fellow Canucks,

We need some more activity in this forum!

I have to admit i am pretty green with envy at the credit card offers Americans get. They have such great bonus offers and so much selection, benefits, you name it!

One thing that interests me is the free FICO scores more and more cards seem to be giving. Canada doesn't have anyone that does that do we?!

Also, Americans have so many options for 3rd party sites that pull, most times for free! I wish those sites could be Canadian equipped, or someone made one for us.

If anyone on here knows anything, could you maybe list some great cards for us?

How can I stop hard inquires from the showing up on my credit report when I have no trade lines associated with them? I've been reading extensively throughout this forum but most rules seem to apply to the USA...........

I've sent letters indicating that i have no knowledge of the debt...they stop then another collection company starts up.... and another hard inquiry...can i ever get out of this vicious cycle?

Thanks in anticipation of any replies...........

I opened up a secured credit card with capital one four or five months ago and I am saving up for another secured CC with another bank.

I sent away for my free credit report from equifax and transunion, they sould be here in a couple of days. I am hoping everything will be off my reports but i dought it. I want to dispute everthing left on it since its been six or seven years and the date for it being to old is fast approaching on anything thats left.

How do i dispute whats on my credit report, I have seen the forums where you fill everything in. What else do i need for them to take me seriously. It says i can add a hundered word letter, do i need to do this. Do i need to send in paper work, because I dont have any and the only place I can think to get this is from the collection companys by asking them to prove the dept. Or do i just need to fill in the forums and send it in.

thanks this forum has already been a huge help to me. I can see the light!

I will update when my credit reports get here.

I am in ontario if that helps

hi all!

I have a few questions regarding my recent discharge (May 2013) from a consumer proposal.

Quick History - I couldn't keep up with 5 credit cards and filed for the proposal in 2009. As of May 2013 I've completed the proposal and my transunion is showing this discharge.

Questions:

1) The old credit card accounts (that were part of the proposal) are still showing up as delinquent accounts. When will they be removed?

2) With the proposal still on my record for next 3 years, assuming my credit history in the past 2 years as been really strong (I was still able to secure various credit cards and loans and cell phone - 5 records total w/ perfect history) can I expect to break a 650 beacon score even with the proposal on record?

Thanks

I was in Curacao recently and purchased a watch on credit with my shiny new Little Switzerland credit card. The sales person touted that Canadians were also able to apply and voila sure enough I was approved in minutes.

Problem is, their only methods of payment appear to be from US banks. They won't even take my MBNA Mastercard over the phone. WTF??

I'm trying to figure out what to do before my first payment date comes due.

What kind of financial institution can't take online payments via credit card? Paypal? Payee transfers...nothing!

Any other Canadians have a Comenity credit card with an American Store? What do you do?

Hello,

Does anyone here know which bank in Canada has the most lenient lending policies when it comes to their credit cards when someone has declared bankruptcy in the past?

I've heard BMO will consider applications from past bankrupts after 2 years but am not sure if its true.

Can't go to CIBC, RBC, AMEX, Presidents Choice, MBNA, HBC as those were included in the BK.

Thanks!

Hi everyone

I have been reading the post's and I'm completely Impressed with the amount of information and support everyone gives each other, Its such a relief to see people sharing the details of the ups and more so downs.

I'm finding myself in a bit of a jam and am seeking for advise on how to tackle my situation with my credit profile.

I was married but now separated, only to find that she neglected the bills and kept it from me as I was the only one working, also what is unfortunate was that the majority of the delinquent bills were all in my name.

Which forced me to file a consumer proposal in 2009.. after filing i began to notice some things that i didn't file in the proposal were showing up on my credit report. with this and the separation and filing for CP not to mention being laid off from my employment and also getting into a car accident and my car being written off and (the check i received didn't even cover the remaining loan amount).. I started sinking into depression which took my mind from sorting out my credit back then..

But after being out of work for 6 months, I was recalled back to work and started to plug away working hard. I eventually met my current partner, and now we are saving to buy our first home and she knows I have bad credit , But I'm so embarrassed to tell her how really bad it is ....

So I'm going to copy and past both credit reports on this thread and will leave brief status or questions besides the creditor highlighted in red, I would appreciate any help and advice on how to tackle my terrible credit reports

What can I do?

Hello! Long time creeper, first time poster!

I'm starting to get really fed up, frustrated and embarrassed of my situation and have no idea how to fix it. Back when I first turned 18, I applied for a credit card ($500 limit) and was approved straight away. I lost my job about a year later and was unable to make even the minimum payment on my balance (it was completely maxed out because I was an salamander with spending) and it went into collections. This credit card that went to collections still pops up as an "active card" with every place I've applied to get a credit card (including my own bank, a different bank than my original credit card that was issued), even though it's been long cut up and gone about 3 years ago by order of my old branch. Naturally, this looks terrible on all my applications. I no longer have this credit card and it's currently in collections, so why is it still showing up on my applications? I feel like I'm missing something here.

I have a couple of other debts as well which are both with Telus. One is for a cable TV bill that went unpaid due to some falling outs with my old roommates (I was the only one making payments on it, everyone else lied about paying their share) so eventually it got racked up with late fees and additional charges. I was so upset about this situation that I moved out and made the mistake of leaving the bill open and without payment. Boom. Straight to collections, owing $750. The next was my cell phone bill, which I also couldn't afford to pay after losing my job. I called Telus to try and cancel my service and was told to pay $420 of money I did not have in order to cancel my contract. Naturally, it eventually went to collections as well.

The kicker and stupidest move on my part was taking out payday loans to get by after all this happened and I lost my job. Long story short, I owe a total of about $800 between 3 different loan companies dating about 2 years back from today. I went into a deep depression over personal and relationship issues so I was very apathetic about paying this money back at the time it was the most urgent and opportune. Now that I've picked myself up again, the thought of how much interest I've probably accrued from all of this scares me. I currently owe around $2600 as a rough estimate for my current debt (it is most likely more than this however). It could be far far far worse and is a fairly small amount, but the marks on the credit score are hurting me more than the actual money owing itself.

I am now 22 years old with a good paying job and far better financial habits. I never overdraft from my accounts, am never late on rent, pay my current cell phone bill on time every month in full and bought a car without the use of a loan (so there's no debt there). I feel useless when it comes to helping my boyfriend with financials however (we live together) because of my poor credit and not being able to take out anything in my name once the word "credit check" pops up. He says that it doesn't bother him and he knows and understands my situation (he feels it is "his job" to take care of me) but I feel terrible that everything has to be in his name due to my teenage mistakes. I would like to help him out and take some responsibility as well, despite the fact he feels it's unnecessary.

My credit and debt situation is just a big mess. I have no idea which agency has what balance so I don't even know where to begin getting in contact to fix this. Just recently my car has been having trouble and the amount to fix it is too great for me to afford. I can't get a car loan without a cosign, which I don't want anyone to have to do for me anyway. Even places that practically hand out credit cards won't approve me. All of the collections calls have mysteriously stopped for the past year or so, and this scares me too as I fear they may be starting to take further action. I really just need some advice on where to start fixing all of this before it gets worse and to get my life back. Can anyone help?

Hi,

I am fairly ignorant in the details of credit ratings and loans etc etc and I have a few questions but first a little background i suppose.

I am currently 25 years old and from 18 - 23 or so I was completely irresponsible and careless with my credit/finances and messed my credit up pretty bad. Recently I have gotten back on track somewhat and my current situation is looking like this:

I have a current credit rating of 658 (equifax) I have zero debt at the moment however and one credit card with a 6k limit i got 6 months ago. I make roughly $120k a year and have been with my current employer a little over a year.

My question really is how long is it going to take to repair my credit rating, what should i be doing and are their any ways i can speed this process up?

Also I would like to purchase a new vehicle soon as my current one could seriously call it quits anyday. Will my other factors help overcome my poor rating (no debt, 120k income) or would i simply be wasting my time trying to finance a vehicle with 658 rating? I really dont want to go in there looking for a vehicle if im essentially wasting my time.

Thanks in advance.

I pulled my credit report today. The only thing showing in the accounts section are past student loans from Sept 01,1999 to Sept 01,1999. It shows the last payment for all loans as July 01,2000. In the comments under each loan is says, 'student loan.Paid.

There are a total of 16 loans all with the Royal Bank.Below is an example of one of them.My question is what does all of this mean? How would a potential lender interpret this. Are these considered derogatory remarks.Given how old they are, they are likely covered under the stature of limitations for Newfoundland given I have not acknowledged them in any way.If possible, how can I get these removed from my credit report.Given that this is the only thing listed in my report would I look like a new creditor, given there are not any R9's or bankruptcy's etc.
