	I have a predicament and could use suggestions. I have a traditional checking account at an out of state bank that I have had for decades from before I moved to my current state. When I moved here I was earning high amounts in cash (which contributed to being credit invisible) and opened a checking and savings account at a local credit union (<abbr title="Credit Union">CU</abbr>) all prior to covid. When covid hit the place I was working shut down but the state did not qualify us for unemployment until about six months later so the account sat with basically no activity. I like having two accounts as a sort of safety net to know my money is not all in one place. I get checks automatically deposited that go into the checking account out of state and pay my bills from there. I have some money in the local <abbr title="Credit Union">CU</abbr>, but rarely deposit there these days, and mostly use it currently to save for larger purchases. My issue is I cannot pay my credit card nor deposit credit card cash back rewards from the local credit union because they have not been able to integrate with Stripe. The option comes up, but the process never works, and I have contacted my bank who said they are aware of the issue (and have been for over a year) but they have not found a solution and are working with Stripe to resolve it. I have waited more than a year, and am ready to try somewhere else.<br />
	<br />
	Awhile back I filed with the state to start a number of businesses, and though I am busy right now I do want to get them started in the next year and will likely be earning almost entirely online, with a high probability of some of the earnings being in cryptocurrency. Since I still want the safety of multiple banks, but the local credit union is not integrating with Stripe, I am looking at possibilities for online banks particularly with high yield checking accounts.... which I know are less common than high yield savings accounts but sometimes I need to move money around right now because of the Stripe issue and would appreciate the convenience of another checking account so everything is faster. I do not want to have to keep a lot in the accounts since I am heading into new territories and not sure how these business ventures will go. I also do not want to have to make a huge deposit nor have to keep a large balance since again it's hard to predict if the businesses will be successful. Does anyone have suggestions for an a bank or credit union with high yield checking accounts that integrates with Stripe, does not have a lot of requirements (prefer initial deposit requirement to be under $100 but would be wiling to do more), and will not be a problem to connect to Coinbase or other cyptocurrency wallets?

<p>I just found this spreadsheet and was given permission to post it for everyone. Its downloadable and has options for 10 or 20 debts. It also has a place where you can change the amounts for lump sum/extra payments made and it will adjust for you. The only downfall to this spreadsheet compared to others is you are unable to put in 0% interest promos before interest kicks in if you are paying highest interest first rather than lowest to highest debts.</p>

	Hello, this is my first post here. I've had relatively bad credit due to a bankruptcy filing back in 2015 (a decade ago) and have since been building my credit back up but unfortunately with cards that have annual fees or monthly fees, low credit limits etc.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I realize the danger of having multiple credit cards but I do need them and enjoy having them as backup when my paycheck doesn't quite keep up with my expenditures. I'm an avid traveler and travel around 3x per year in which I incur most of my spending. I do have a full-time decent paying job but I am single so I only have "my" income to base everything off of.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	OVERVIEW:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	* I have 3 (THREE) $1,000 limits cards and they are currently almost to the max and I need to pay them off. (So not quite $3,000 but close to it).
</p>

<p>
	* I have 2 (TWO) $850 limit cards and they are currently almost to the max and I need to pay them off as well. (So not quite $1,700 but close to it).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	(I have a few smaller limit ($300, $400 cards that I keep zeroed out most of the time).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I just got a $5,000 loan (not sure if I can say from whom but it is local in my town) that I used half of that to pay off a different loan I had for $2,500 that the interest just kept snowballing. This $5,000 loan has a payment of $239/month with a total of $1600'ish interest over 2 years I believe (not the best terms - but it doesn't seem the interest will just keep snowballing and never allow me to get out from under it at least that is what i think...)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I have come into a little money recently and have the opportunity now to PAY that $5,000 loan OFF since I just got it with only incurring around $40 in interest - is that what I should do ?  OR should I use this money to pay those credit cards above? And try to pay down that $5,000 loan each month at $239 ??
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I just want to do the right thing ...
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Please let me know any thoughts or advice you may have.
</p>

	See, I haven't traded in yon stock market in quite some time.  And back when I did trade I nonetheless didn't trade much, so I am still inexperienced at this.  (Nice going.)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	On August 9th I bought 100 shares of Wells Fargross at $52.21 per share.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Yesterday I put in a limit order to sell all 100 at $56.21.  The trade was executed earlier today, yet when I logged into my Schwab account, the proceeds were reported as $5620.82.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Truly, $56.21 per share was the reported sale price; how are the proceeds not an even $5621.00 ?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<br />
	(EDIT: I mean apparently they're allowed to trade in prices that include fractional cents?  If so, is there a setting in my Schwab account somewhere that I can tweak to prevent it?  Some "Whole cents only" check box...)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	('nother EDIT:  check box schmeck box; I'm not sure why I even posted any of this  <strong>: /</strong>  )

	A generation or two ago, the thing you were SUPPOSED to do with receipts from transactions where a credit card was used was to store yes STORE the receipts somewhere safe until your credit card statement came in the mail.  Then you would audit the statement against the receipts and either find no discrepancies, or find yes discrepancies and then call the <abbr title="Credit Card">CC</abbr> company and proceed thence.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Many things have changed:  Card transactions are wayyyy more common, people are carrying a greater quantity of cards, online banking privies you to whatever info the bank has on your transaction without you having to wait for your statement.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I have a billion credit cards, too many debit cards, and thus a sea of receipts that I'm clueless about how to handle.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Do you have an organizational system for managing yours?

	I'm not really sure what to title this... or how to even describe this, but here goes.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I worked for a major company that, as part of the 401k plan, they gave you stock in the company. I was only with that company for 2 years or so, but in that time, I received around 12 shares of stock in the company. When I left, I called the financial manager and asked about moving this over to my new employer's 401k plan, and I was told there is no value in the account and nothing I can do with it. So I just shrugged and went about my way. Well, every year, I get a shareholder's package in the mail telling me how much stock I have in the company and apparently sometime in 2023, the stock split... so now I have 24 shares of stock. When I got the shareholder's package this year, it told me the value of the stock was around $8k.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	When I call the financial company, (I believe it is Fidelity), I'm told the same thing.. there is no value to it. But yet I am showing to have 24 or so shares of stock of the previous company I worked for. I've called the HR department of my previous employer and they don't want to even talk to me. I have not yet reached out to my current employer's HR department, as the stock of the company I "own" is a competitor of the company I currently work for and I don't want any conflict of interest claims being made...
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Can anyone help me untangle this mess? I'd like to just take any value and move to my current employer's 401k plan if I can.

	See, I inherited a IRA ten years ago.  The tax code at the time was such that to determine your RMD, you divide the number o' dollars in the IRA by the number o' years the IRS's actuarial table says you have left to live.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	See, I have inherited another IRA and evidently it is now the case that the whole thing has to be distributed within ten years.  This was news to me.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Is the IRA I inherited in 2014 grandfathered in, or am I in trouble for not having drained it all, these ten years later?  (With investment appreciation, there's about as much in there now as there was ten years ago, even with me having made regular withdrawals  : /  )

	My uncle's will set up a trust from which I, Sidewinder, am to receive a monthly disbursement. The amount of the disbursement is greater than my current gross monthly pay but I have no idea how many months these will go on for (until either I die or 40% of the estate has been distributed.  I have no idea how many dollars that 40% is).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The plan I have concocted is to maximize my 401k contribution - I currently contribute 6% of my salary as that is the company match ceiling - to the full 25% that the company allows; and that reimburse myself for that extra 19% out of the trust income.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	My reasoning goes that since the income you contribute to your 401k is untaxed, I significantly ease my tax burden with no impact to my net income.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I suspect I'm probably missing something here though.  My personal history tells me this probably isn't as good of an idea as I think it is.

	(What is it that I am missing?  : / )

	The list of historic buildings in which I, Sidewinder, have conducted banking business reads as follows:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	52 Main Street, Concord, Mass.  It was a BayBank - Harvard Trust at the time; is now a Bank of America.  It's where Dad took me &amp; sis to open our first bank accounts when we was kids.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	460 Montgomery Street, San Francisco.  Opened a checking account at Coast Federal Bank.  The building now holds the officess of a law firm.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	715 Bridgeway, Sausalito, California.  At the time it was a branch of Wells Fargo.  Gross.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	213 Chestnut Street East, Stillwater, Minnesota.  US Bank.  USed to be some other bank.  Meh.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	One Powell Street, San Francisco.  Opened my second (2nd) BofA checking account.  The free checks, picturing an eagle in flight, were actually ugly.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granite_Trust_Company" rel="external nofollow">Granite Trust Company Building</a>,1400 Hancock St, Quincy, Massachusetts.  Is now Bank of America. Walking distance from the Red Line station.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The Field Building, Chicago.  Also is Bank of America.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	When I visited Seattle in 1995, I encountered an ATM belonging to First Interstate Bank of Washington.  Not sure if the building was an historic one or not.  As a Californian I was excited to see a bank called "First Interstate Bank of [something other than California]."
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Have also been to a Chevron station in Seward, Alaska.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

	So, if I talk about an auto insurance ripoff, I don't think anyone is going to jump out of their chair and cry, "OMG!"
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Still, when I ran the numbers on my recent Geico 6-mo renewal, my eyes just about popped out of my head ...
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	We insure 3 vehicles with original cost of about $50k ea, model tears 2020, 2011, 2006.  We carry hefty limits on liability, etc.  (No coll. on the '06).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Our 6 mo pay-in-full premium is $2071.  (That's up from about $1300 a year ago.)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Now, I may have inadvertently switched my payment plan at some point, because I was billed on a 4 pay plan at $2321.  (I had to call for a pay in full quote and wait a day to schedule payment.)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So a little envelope arithmetic suggests that if you were instead to run the premium through a credit card and pay in a similar manner, the card must have an <strong><abbr title="Annual Percentage Rate">APR</abbr> of 80%</strong>+ for $250 in interest to accrue in just 3 mo. (Remember, the first 25% installment is due on Day 1 of the policy term.)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If you should go with the installment pay option on your policy, consider the numbers and possibly pay with a credit card you don't otherwise use for <abbr title="Paid in Full/Pay in Full">PIF</abbr> charges each month.  (You get cb/pts to boot).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Of course, better yet, pop 1/12 of your annual premium aside each month in a savings account and avoid the finance charges altogether.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	(Not suggesting I'm offering up sage advice here; but I really had no idea of the magnitude of the eff. Int rate charged on Geico's monthly installment plan!)

	<strong>Evening of December 27, 2023.  (Twenty-eight hours till impact)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Sidewinder deposits a $3,250 check, made out to himself and drawn on Bank of America, at an Associated Bank drive-up ATM in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.  Sidewinder drives away not having paid attention to the updated "available balance" on the ATM receipt, as he is already aware of the likeliness of an EFA hold due to the size of the deposit combined with the minuscule age of the account.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Afternoon of December 28 (six hours till impact)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Sidewinder logs into his American Express account and transfers several thousand dollars from his Rewards Checking account via ACH into the account at Associated.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Morning of January 2 (four days, thirteen hours past impact)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Sidewinder visits the Associated branch in Bloomington and deposits one thousand dollars in the form of ten crisp Benjamins.  The account balance is now sufficient to qualify for the $600 new-account bonus that was the whole blamed reason for this clown show in the first place.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Afternoon of January 2 (you get the impact thing already)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Sidewinder initiates a $100 ACH transfer to an online HYSA at another bank from the account at Associated.  The account at Associated is newly linked to the HYSA and the purpose of the transfer is to verify that the linkitude is functional.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Evening of January 4 (we're like, way impacted at this point.  (Gross.))</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Checking the overall status of his bank accounts, Sidewinder observes that the HYSA transaction history lists an ACH transfer credit of $100 on January 2 as well as an "ACH debit return" on January 4.  He phones the bank where the HYSA is and asks if they have any details on why the ACH debit was returned.  The banker investigates and reports that Associated returned the ACH transfer with a note that the account is frozen.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Sidewinder calls Associated to find out what in tarnation is going on there.  The best explanation the banker can offer is that the $3.250 ATM deposit is what caused the account to be frozen.  This was not an EFA hold on funds deposited and not yet verified; indeed the account already had several thousand dollars in funds that could not possibly <u>not</u> have been validated by that point.  Sidewinder, intending to take this matter higher up than to the person who answers the customer service 800 number on Saturday night, simply gets the banker to confirm that Associated had made the exasperating move to A) respond to a non-mammoth $3,250 deposit not by placing an EFA hold on the funds, but rather by FREEZING THE ENTIRE ACCOUNT, INCLUDING ALL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DEPOSITED IN PERFECTLY GOOD FAITH AND INEVITABLY VERIFIED and 2) not bother to NOTIFY THE ACCOUNT-HOLDER VIA TEXT, PHONE, OR EMAIL THAT THEY WERE FREEZING HIS ENTIRE FREAKING ACCOUNT.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The account was unfrozen on January 4th which does not undo the unacceptability of never notifying the account-holder in the first place.  Did they break the law by not notifying?
</p>

	I have savings bonds from two countries. While not exciting investments, I do it. It's kind of part of a diversified portfolio.
</p>

<p>
	In my TreasuryDirect account I have well into five figures worth of bonds, divided between EE and I bonds. I buy a bit more once in a while. Since I have no pressing need for the money, the bonds sit there and earn interest. I can redeem them any time I want to as long as the bond I'm redeeming I've held for at least a year.
</p>

<p>
	Recently, compulsive me opened an Israel Bonds account (Computershare manages it in the U.S.). I buy one $36 eMazel Tov bond online. It pays about 5.7% interest. The downside is the bond has to be held for five years, with no way to sell it beforehand, or transfer it, except if I drop-dead. I have no plans on buying more. It's more of a novelty. If someone asks me if I own savings bonds, I can say "Yes! eMazel Tov bonds!" They either won't know what I'm talking about, or will think I'm out of my mind. The latter is OK, as they'll then leave me alone. <span class="ipsEmoji">😉</span>

						Dear Burgerwars,
					</p>

					<p>
						As you may be aware, Binance.US, alongside other companies in our industry, has become the target of aggressive tactics by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC has brought unjustified civil claims against our business, from which we will continue to vigorously defend ourselves, our customers, our partners and industry.
					</p>

					<p>
						Irrespective of the baseless claims, and in light of the Commission’s increasingly aggressive tactics, our payment and banking partners have signaled their intent to<span> </span><strong>pause USD fiat channels as early as June 13, 2023,<span> </span></strong>meaning our ability to accept USD fiat deposits and process USD fiat withdrawals will be impacted. As part of our customer-first commitment, we are notifying users promptly so you can take necessary actions as we transition to a<span> </span><strong>crypto-only exchange</strong>. To be clear, we maintain 1:1 reserves for all customer assets, so customer funds are always safe, secure, and available.

	In my Facebook feed, in the Facebook app, was a ad for 20% your order at CVS if you use in-store pickup.  The fine print read
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<em>FOR 20% OFF PICKUP ORDERS: Offer available online for store pickup orders only. Expires April 22, 2023 at 11:59 PM ET. To receive the 20% off discount, enter coupon code PICKUP20 at checkout. <strong>The 20% discount cannot be combined with an additional “% off your total purchase” offer.</strong> The discount also excludes prescriptions and gift cards and is not valid on orders placed on CVS.com/Photo or CVS Optical®. The discount also excludes Voltaren brand products and all at-home COVID-19 tests. Savings are not transferable. No cash back. Tax charged on pre-coupon price where required. Tax and shipping charges are not applicable towards your order total. CVS Pharmacy® reserves the right to make changes to or terminate this offer at any time.</em>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	From my laptop I logged on to the CVS website and found the same fine print; but also when I looked at a particular product and saw another plug for  "20% off your pickup order - click for details" the Details read:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<em>Offer available online only. Expires April 22, 2023 at 11:59 PM ET. To receive the 20% discount enter Coupon Code PICKUP20 at checkout. Purchase threshold must be met before taxes and shipping charges and after all other discounts. Offer valid for one use per order. <strong>The 20% discount cannot be combined with another product sale running at the same time.</strong> The 20% discount also excludes prescriptions and gift cards and is not valid on orders placed on CVS.com/Photo or CVS Pharmacy Optical. The 20% discount also excludes Voltaren brand products and all At Home COVID-19 tests. Savings are not transferable. No cash back. Tax charged on pre-coupon price where required. Tax and shipping charges are not applicable towards your order total. CVS Pharmacy reserves the right to make changes to or terminate this offer at any time.</em>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	In one case the fleshed-out "Details" says it can't be combined only with a %-off-total-purchase deal but makes no mention of also excluding any items that are on sale generally.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	In the other case it says doesn't apply to sale items, but makes no mention of not being combinable with another %-off-your-total-purchase (which I don't care about since I don't have another %-off-your-total deal, but still).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I have a handful of other complaints about how sloppy CVS conducts its sales and promos (compared to, say Target) but these omissions here at least stoke my curiosity about legalities.  "Not valid on sale items" should've been mentioned in the Facebook promo fine print in order for them to claim enforceability, yes?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Lysol 2-pack is buy 1 get 1 50% off which would be worth it together with the 20% deal, but according to one (and only one) chunk of fine print, it's not valid.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Sometimes the headache of these CVS calculations aren't worth the dollars saved.  #target4eva

	This just happened to me. I have a small account with Stash that I thought didn't need a 1099 for this year.  I have just a few shares of a fast food chain and a few shares of an ETF in the account.  They just sent me an email that a new document is available. It's my 1099, that they dated 3/24/23.  This is not a corrected one, but the first.  I already filed my tax returns weeks ago.  The 1099 just shows about $10 in dividends. I'm not going to file a corrected 1040 and 540 (California) just for that. If they send me a letter a year from now that I unreported by $10 I deal with that then.
</p>

<p>
	Can brokerages just do this with no excuses, no penalties from the IRS, and the like? It can screw taxpayers.
