This is of course on top of the mafia-like black out policy whereby Las Vegas is claimed by 5 or 6 teams as a local market and therefore more games are blacked out when "my team" is on the road.

Then, see, there's a section 5.1 that grants the Trustee discretion to use the estate to cover final expenses, 5.2 says "the Trustee shall make the following specific bequests from the estate" - and then proceeds to name like no specific bequests whatsoever, and 5.3 says that "If Sidewinder is then living, the Trustee shall set aside 40% of the Trust estate that shall be retained, in Trust, for his benefit." It specifies the schedule on which that is to be distributed to me.

Nowhere in the main will was anyone named other than the Trustee and the Executor of the estate.  My uncle had no children, I and my sister and her two children were his only surviving blood relatives.  I severely doubt that my sister was iced out of the will.  I'm assuming that the law firm sent her what they sent me, except maybe without that first amendment and instead with, say, a second amendment laying out what she gets & when.  If I'm right about this, then is it the case that since the first amendment named me and no one else, it is confidential, between me, the Trustee, and the attorneys?  Such that if Sis asks either of them "is my brother mentioned in the will or in an amendment thereto?" they're not allowed to answer?

I'm not interested in finding out what Sis gets (and that's if I'm right that she gets anything at all; that there is an additional amendment naming her); I expect she's mildly interested in finding out if I get anything so that she can call me and accuse me of mismanaging it more than six months before I've even received a penny of it, because she has engaged in that kind of paternalistic bull s # !t  before. 

Also I just like the idea of her not knowing indeed whether I get a red penny.  Our mother didn't mention me at all in her will and I wasn't expecting her to; she and I despised each other.  Our dad didn't "mention me in his will" because the penniless putz died without a dime to his name, and - to my considerable surprise - my grandmother - mother to my mom and the aforementioned uncle - didn't mention me at all in her will either.  That surprised the heck out of me because I was and still am unaware of any bad blood between us; I flew out to her place (uncle lived with her as her caregiver) to celebrate her 95th and 98th (and final) birthdays with her.

I like the idea of Sis just not knowing whether I've been left high and dry by this family for the 4th time in a row.  Sis was spoiled beyond rotten into her 30's and I was making my own way in the world on $6/hour with five roommates when I hadn't turned 20 yet.  At this point in life I don't want "monetary revenge" but I must say I wouldn't mind her at least being perturbed.

We rely on our cells for the time; Alexa for an alarm.

I thought after having to cancel my Bermuda trip I'd at least be able to take care of things at home this week, and an aggressive bit of fridge cleaning today resulted in an odor in my kitchen that urgently needed airing out, even though it was 24 degrees out.

I'm not sure if it was from having the window open in the cold, or the stomach-upsetting nature of the severe smell of the severely decayed food, but I believe a bug has gotten in. Fatigue set in about five hours ago and now there is a fever well on its way, possibly a sore throat también.

What do I do now?  Echinacea?  There is a Whole Foods two blocks away.

Friday morning, it wouldn't start.  I turned the key and the gauges lit up; beeps beeped, chimes chimed... but there was nothing from the engine, no spark; no crank.

One forum suggested the battery might be bad or low, thought I have some trouble believing this since the headlights switched on just fine.  

One other thing I noticed, the relevance of which I also doubt except my expertise here is non-existent, is that the button under the front of the trunkoid on the driver's side (the button you press to release the trunkoid lid so you can fold the top down) did not release the trunkoid lid.  I resigned to drive to work with the top unimpressively up; unaware of just how unimpressive things were about to get.

Anyone have any experience with this problem with the C5 Corvette, or Chevies in general?  If it is possibly the battery, and I ought to charge it up, can anyone recommend which charger to buy?

Yesterday I filled out my info on the "start chat" page but couldn't bring myself to click the "submit" arrow.

Today I observed I am continuing to fall apart and this time I got as far as filling out my info and ACTUALLY WENT THROUGH with clicking the thing, in a minute or two I was connected with a counselor who gave me her name and I asked if I cared to give my name and age.

I left the chat.

I'm not sure if it's because she was female (see, I am male).  I really don't know WHAT my problem was, but I clicked the little trash can, pushed my laptop away and said, "Great just found ONE more thing I managed to completely screw up."

I looked up and told God or Moses or George Carlin that I just wished I could sob, that I wished there was someone I knew (I've lived in Minnesota for 15 years now but still don't know anyone here) whose shoulder I could literally cry on.

I've been doing some frantic apartment cleaning (building is being inspected on the 21st and my "housekeeping" habits betray those of a severe depression sufferer, I am expecting a lease violation if not the start of eviction proceedings) so I got some more of that done, but now I am back in that frantic state. Posted a Facebook status that just said "say hello" but no comments yet.

I don't think you're allowed to tie up the crisis hotline just because you're starved for sentient company.  (AI bots will never fill that role; humans have souls.)

Anyone have any experience using the crisis line?  I hope not, because I'd prefer for everyone to be well; but instead here we are in the real world.  : /

During the first week of December, and at mom's prodding, I went to an urgent care facility after taking a day off from the office due to illness for the first time in probably a decade (if not more).  I had been very fatigued since the return from Vegas and I had also been dropping a lot of weight without trying to do so...and by a lot, we are talking about 30 pounds in the span of three or four months.  Looking back, there were other red flags that I had chosen to ignore.  

Anyhow, lots of fluids and a CT scan later, I was being loaded into an ambulance and transported to one of the hospitals in the medical center near downtown.  I was taken into surgery within a few hours with a follow-up the next day that I didn't even know about until a day or so later.  ~5cm mass was removed from the colon, which had also ruptured.  Doc described it as basically being that my "abdomen blew up" and that I was likely within a day or two of death had I not gone to the urgent care center.  I spent the better part of the next week and a half in ICU and then a regular room before being released.  They are hopeful that the ostomy bag will be temporary and that the colon can be reconnected once the chemo is done.  

Mass was determined to have been cancerous but all of the lymph nodes taken for testing showed as clear, which they tell me is a good thing.  They think they got everything, but chemo is likely to commence within the next few weeks.  Port will probably be put in place next week or the week after, with the chemo starting within the week of port installation.  

Fatigue is still an issue, but I have managed to ditch the walker for the time being.  Appetite has slowly returned, but I am still not used to eating three meals a day since I wasn't doing that before all of this came to light.  Despite that, I am still losing some weight...not huge amounts, but the digital scale is showing a few ounces a day.  I know I was carrying too many pounds, but this is NOT the way to lose weight...

At the risk of being gross, one of the biggest signs I had ignored was changes in stool.  It had decreased in size and later moved to resembling a Jackson Pollack painting.  Add in weight loss and the night sweats (which I had been attributing to just one of those things that happens to women of my age) and there were reasons to have gone for a check-up.  Another red flag was that there was a mass that I could feel when laying on my side and that was not consistent with the location of other organs that can be problematic.  In other words, not kidney, spleen, appendix.  Some of what allowed me to discount things, even taking the day off sick, was that I was not having any real pain.  Even at the ER, I turned down their shot of morphine because I wasn't hurting...well, at least other than from the various needle sticks to put in PIC lines.  

That is the nickel version...

I mailed an payment to Sioux Falls from Hanalei, Hawaii on Friday, January 17.  That's obviously the earliest it could've left for Lihue; I've no clue if it was to go str8 to the mainland from Lihue (which means landing on the West Coast and nowhere else) or if it goes through Honolulu whence it could go direct to Chi-town but I'm thinking would add more time (at least more sorting time) to the journey.

The receiving bank reported having received the payment on Monday, which is bizarre not just because how could it not have taken longer to get to a not-so-major metropolitan area like Sioux Falls from a severely not-at-all metropolitan area like Hanalei, and furthermore how is the bank aware of this payment on Monday the 20th WHICH WAS A FEDERAL HOLIDAY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.  How could the postal service have delivered it (unless it got delivered on Saturday but that's even more insane), and how could the bank or their remittance processor doing that work on an federal holiday.

As an BofA customer, I am eligible for all of these scrumptious "BankAmerideals" (I mean where else on earth would I score gold like 3% cash back on your $11 order at A&W) and one of these deals is for 10% cash back from Jamba Juice.  I was at the Jamba Juice in Lihue last night and not fully five seconds after my payment went through, I got a notification from my BofA app that "we are processing your cash back deal for Jamba Juice." 

As someone who worked in overnight mainframe batch processing for an gigantic bank, I have to ask, why would they expend computing resources sending out notifications like this in real time?  Who exactly is clamoring second-by-second for information on the whereabouts of their $1.20 in cash back, that they would require basically GDS-like database management with regard to piddling little notifications like this?  Surely BankAmerideals has fine print saying "please allow x days for processing" and even then the official Notification that they are processing the deal could be sent out after one or two overnight - maybe even weekly - batch cycles?

It's no skin off of my nose to receive the notifications as promptly as that, I am just trying to understand what sense there is in allocating computing resources like that. (This Jamba Juice one wasn't a fluke, either; same thing happened when I went to Shake Shack about a month ago.  : /  )

(Bloomberg)—Sears Holdings Corp., the unprofitable department-store company controlled by hedge fund manager Edward Lampert, plans to consider options for its Kenmore, Craftsman and DieHard brands as well as its Sears Home Services repair business.
The retailer reported a wider first-quarter loss after efforts to win back customers failed to boost sales. The net loss expanded to $471 million, or $4.41 a share, from $303 million, or $2.85, a year earlier, the Hoffman Estates-based company said in a statement yesterday. Chief Financial Officer Robert Schriesheim plans to leave the company, Sears said.

The CFO is jumping off the sinking ship. Interesting the Sears home services is mentioned in here as a potential spinoff as Sears acquired A&E Signature Service which was the in-home repair division of Montgomery Ward when MW finally ceased to exist after its bankruptcy and failed turnaround attempt.

Kenmore, Craftsman, and DieHard are keeping Sears afloat. Now granted Kenmore is really Whirlpool and LG, Craftsman is really S&K Tools, and DieHard is really (I think...) Exide car batteries. Some other retailer will grab those brand names then Sears will fade into history along with Woolworths and Montgomery Ward.

Also explain why Citibank made the changes to the Sears MasterCard they did recently. It's not a huge change going from Sears shopping points to Citi Thank You points - I think Citi knows Sears won't live much past the 2016 holiday shopping season and they're preparing to migrate Sears charge customers to other credit products. The ones who have regular Sears only charge cards will either be upgraded if they are creditworthy or dumped if not.

I'm not certain if it got filled up at a Irving station in New England (pretty sure it did), or a Hess station there, or a 76 station out west.

Disorientingly, I don't know if I ever brought it to the Amoco station in Plymouth, or the ARCO station in Greenwood.  It's weird if I didn't, since those are totally local.

(More stations should be Texaco-branded (seeing that BP is doing excellent work reviving the Amoco brand).)

Called the reference who came out and suggested a new panel. Cost about 10k.

I looked up the breaker (225 amp) part number and bought a replacement for just under $200. 

I had to change the breaker "hot" since there was no way to turn off the power w/o calling SDGE back and scheduling a turn-off that would take a 3 week delay. Fairly simple and safe even though the incoming wires are hot. Checked the current and voltage drop across the new breaker and it was just a few mVs with about 60 amps load. No reason I could see to change the panel. We aren't planning to get EVs let alone fast chargers.
