I'm sure it's been talked about before on here, and I have definitely read articles about this and have friends tell me, but what I do is I set aside $100 one time in my checking account.
For example, if I get paid say $1000, I only add to my check register $900 as a deposit, therefore creating a pseudo-overdraft protection of $100 in my account in case I screw up somehow by miscalculating my check register or miss inputing a withdrawal or charge
Anybody else do this? One of my ex-bosses sets aside $100 each paycheck not only for overdraft protection but for savings well.
