Full Version: Help with Student Loan problem
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans
Trina
Hi, I'm new here. Would just like to say hello and to tell you all that this site is really helpful!

My question is the following:

I currently have federal student loans. I have chosen not to pay these loans while in school hence my loans have either been in deferment or in forbearance status. I graduated in 2002 and have been attending graduate school ever since (I am finishing this year in 2005). The problem is that during the year 2004 while I was still enrolled in school they reported me 60 days past due in Feb and in August. My question is the following: Should I first contact the SCSLC to settle this matter or should I contact one of the CRA's to see if they can remove the negative payment history. My FICO score has been affected by this mistake. Thank you!!! biggrin.gif

I'd contact SCSLC first. Some people have had success with disputing negative SL information, but it's pretty rare. Student loan people keep some awfully good records.

Keep us posted on how it goes. smile.gif
