Full Version: EFS Reporting Incorrect
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans

I have 6 TL that look like the following on all 3 CRA.

EXP / TU / EQ

EDUCATIONAL FINANCIAL SERVICES / EFS FINANCE CO / EDUCATION FIN SERVICE (Different on all CRA)
Account Number - MYSSNxxxx (All Same)
Current Status - CONTACT MBR FOR STATUS / Charged off as bad debt / Claim filed w/ govt, past due 180 days

Balance Due - $0
DOLA - 10/2000
High Credit - The amount of each SL
Remarks - EXP Nothing / TU-Contact Subscriber / EQ - Special handling contact subscriber

FICO - 615 / 626 / 657

These all report as negative items.

I have written them a letter asking them to delete the TL because they were included in a loan rehab. I sent it CMRR, but have not received the green card yet.

One of the problems here is that EFS was purchased by Nelnet several years ago. The last time I attempted my credit repair, I called them and they gave me the run around until I gave up. This time I am not giving up.

When I originally accepted the rehab, I was in Ostrich mode and just wanted them to stop calling me. I don't have any supporting paperwork from EFS, about the only proof I could provide is the fact that I made the payments to them, and that Sallie Mae now has my loans in good standing.

Has anyone else dealt with these people in the past? Any advice?

Thanks, I have learned a lot in the last few weeks reading, and this is my first post.

As EFS was the defaulting servicer, they are under no legal obligation to change the tradeline. Who was the guarantee agency for these loans?? They are the only ones obligated to clear anything negative.

The guarantee agency was USA Funds, and there are no negatives from them or Sallie Mae (the servicer).

The problem is, that EFS told me that they would remove all negative information, and I don't have it in writing. I am hoping that they will find the original agreement and delete the information. I have sent them a letter asking them to do this, I will update when I get a response.

Hank -

While it's true that EFS isn't required to remove the negatives, they are encouraged to do so by DOE. Don't give up - it took me 6 mths to get a similar situation resolved (you can read the details in my old posts). However, my goodwill requests did finally work. So while nobody can guarantee you that your efforts will be successful, nobody can guarantee you they won't either. At least keep us updated so that others will know what works and what doesn't. smile.gif

Thanks for the encouragement. I will update when I actually receive something back from EFS/Nelnet. They received my letter one week ago and have yet to make contact. I hope they just delete.
