The OC shows $0 balance. The loan servicer reports as indicated above (with $0 balance). There is no notation from the collection agency that contacted me.

This notation would indicate, to me, that the loan was sent to collections and paid. Does this sound right? The reason I ask is that I had loans sent to collections, the collectors contacted me for about 3 months, then ceased all contact. I have not paid anything on the loans (because I am unable to pay). Any ideas about this?

Sounds like the lender/servicer defaulted you.

Who are/were the OC and the loan servicer? The collection agencey contacting you might have been attempting to cure the account, or it might have been default aversion. What CA was collecting on this.

I think the CA was Diversified Collection Services. I'd have to look it up to be sure though. OC was Access Group (private loan).

Yep, it was Diversified. They called again today and asked if I can pay. (nope, still in same situation) Woman gave me her number to call if things change -- she said it will go to the litigation department shortly. (don't know if that's tactic or true -- could be either). I don't have anything they can attach a lien to. They'd probably have to garnish my wages. I read on a site that they cannot garnish your wages when your default was caused by loss of employment until you've been re-employed for a year. Anyone know about this? She asked how long I've been where I'm working now. (only a few months) Wonder if this was the reason for that question.
