Hello, and thanks in advance,

Im currently in a rehab program with dept of ed, so my federal loan is now being rehabbed... BUT

I just received a bill from the school itself about my tuition not fully paid.
$800 back in 1997 and now with interest its $1600 so it has doubled,

The letter states that it will sue/take legal action if not fully paid but im fairly sure ive received these bills same wording off/on since about 1998,with same wording (sue/legal action) it is not on any of my CRA's and i have no judgements

and id like to keep it that way, So my question is can this non-federal tech school still get a judgement against me? I looked up my SOL for the state inwhich i live (North Carolina) its shows North Carolina 3 years for all oral/written agreements, and my last tuition payment was back in 1997,

tho i do plan to pay them some day asit is my debt, reason i havent already is i was thinking this was part of my dept of ed loan but come to find out it is seperate.

PS: in the bill its states it wants full payment of 1600, now if i just start to send them $50 or so each month will that hurt my SOL..

From my understanding, student accounts from non-profit educational institutions have no SOL. Was this a state or county tech college?? They will submit for state tax offset. And yes they do sue for judgement in small claims court. (I am waiting to hear from an old co-worker who handles thoses accounts for specifics.)
