I wanted to thank the members of this board. I defualted on my student loans years ago. I know it was stupid, but I just ignored them. Recently, I decided to clean up my credit report. The student loans were the worst mark on my record. Anyway, when I found this forum, I began reading. I read and I read. Using what I learned here, I called the collector and asked about their rehabilitation program. The offer she gave me was $2000 downpayment and $250 per month. I told her I would think about it and give her a call back. When I called her back, I told her that $2000 down and $250 per month was unacceptable. I countered with $200 per month, no DP. She hemmed and hawed. She put me on hold while she went to "check". Of course she came back and agreed to the terms.

If it had not been for this site and the stellar advice given by members here, I might still be worrying about my SL or given her 2 grand upfront (which I cannot afford to do). So, thank you! You all are worth more than your weight in gold...

Now, I have to work on the rest of my CR.

Oh, I forgot to add. I was able to get 25% of my SLs forgiven. Thanks for that, too!
