Does defffering your student loan bring down your credit rating and if so does it bring it down a lot

If there is any impact to your score, I belive it is minimal. My sl's were reporting "student loan not in repayment". I think that's a fairly common status. My guarrantors were SallieMae and Great Lakes. I also had one Perkins. My scores didn't budge a bit after consolidation.

my loans were in deferment. as soon as they came out, eq jumped about 40 points. not sure if it's due to consolidation because several accounts were paid off, but old accounts that were closed got an update too so im not totally sure.
