Full Version: Loans Finally rehabbed!!!
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans
pt0872
So I made my last payment in November..most here know that from reading my posts.

But today Im looking on NSLDS website and the servicer looked different but still looked like DofE. So I called..good thing to cuz they send my new bill to my parents old address. I would've been 30 days late a month after I finished rehab.

Anyway, they put me in the Standard repayment program to begin with but because it's to expensive for us right now she offered other alternatives.

$244.21 Standard Repayment
$157.22 Extemded Repayment
$116.09 Graduated Repayment

We took the Graduated...although it will go up $20 every year...but it's more than half what I was paying for rehab.

I asked about the DofE TL's being removed...she couldnt believe they werent removed yet...put me on hold, came back and said the TL's should be removed between now and the first week in January.

She is also faxing me a letter saying the loans are now held by them and what my balance is and payment arrangements.

She is also sending me a customized letter stating the loans are no longer in default biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

So there you go rehabbing people....thats whats happened to my loans.

Congrats!!

I wish I had the same luck with the student loan issues I'm having.

Who are your loans with? and whats the problem?
ziggypop
I have to add my congrats to the list biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif (and echo 4credit's "I wish mine were where your's are" comment, but you know about my issues!!)!!! Will you be framing the letter from DOE that says you're no longer in default? I hope that letter will at least help you in your house search!

4credit, like pt said, if we can help here, please let us know what your issues with your SLs are. We've been through some weird problems, so let us know!

Thanks Ziggypop....

DW and I are actually going to look at a house tonight and we're working with a Mortgage broker already.

Basically, the only thing stopping us is the DofE loans. So if they're supposed to come off anytime between now and Jan. 1st we can wait.

Long year...glad to see it's finally over.

4credit...sometimes you just need to push the right buttons to get things fixed. If whoever your dealing with isnt helping you..go over their head.

Ok...so youve sent DV's and limited C&D letters to the CA right? And they have sent you validation of the account thru the OC which is their requirement. Was the validation complete?

Im sure you know with a C&D they are allowed to call 1 time to tell you their next move..but if they're continuing to call thats a violation.

Do you have the $$$ to pay this in full? Or be able to set up a payment arrangement for something like 4 payments?

A PFD might be your best option...but Im going to look over your posts again and see if there's something I missed.

The amount does not match what the OC is reporting. The CA added charges but didn't send me anything detailing the charges.

They have called more than 2 times already (messages saved).

It's hard but I may be able to pay in full or should I offer them a percentage? But the OC is the one reporting how will paying the CA delete this from my file?

This is charges they've added....normal...but morally wrong. But the validation should show every chage they've added to the account.

Hang onto those recordings..tape recorder or answering machine? Could make a big difference in laws of your state. Answering machine...OK but recording phone calls is a different animal.

PFD...a little harder...the OC is reporting and the CA is reporting. Most say if the OC has sold..they will delete with a dispute. Why continue to verify if they got their money. On the other hand..if they sold the debt for pennys they may hold onto the TL for future collections. Have you tried verifying with the OC?
